AFTER PARTY

The mansion was a total mess. Most of the guests were gone, but many were lodged in the rooms. The lodged guests were the mess of the night.

Many of them had taken partners and stayed under the pretence of being drunk, just to help each other keep the bed warm. But that’s the good thing balls anyway, the rather bigger problem was with the Greys.

Morgan paced the big hall like it was a slim walkway where she could navigate the entire length easily to and fro, while Freya and Peniel watched her.

“I asked you not to send an invitation to that wretch, but you wanted to win the fight,” she growled. “Look how it turned out and became our greatest backlash!”

“Your greatest backlash,” Freya retorted.

Morgan stopped.

“Yes, your greatest backlash because I only saw you just once with that dude,” Freya cracked a finger. “You weren’t serious, so, the desperate one taught you the lessons you need.”

Peniel chuckled.

“Peniel?” Morgan cried.

“No offence, sis, but imagine Mary right on that fella’s lap, riding his dick as she signed for gymnast,” Peniel made silly emphasis with her hands.

Freya couldn’t laugh. She wanted to but it hung in her throat. Why would she?

“Mom, you don’t want to speak to your daughter, can’t you see she’s being stupid over there?” came Morgan.

“Stupid?” Peniel posed, “Come on, if I was you, I could have walked up to that mother fucker and pressed her lips with two fingers so she gets to know she’s only but a little lost thing.”

Freya chuckled. She could hold it no more.

“Mom?” Morgan widened her eyes.

“Never mind, but your sister was right, you don’t stay calm all the time,” she turned to leave, but Grey walked in with two young men. One of them was the guy Mary danced with, Dickson.

“Son, you are back,” Freya hugged Grey, “with that…Dick boy.”

“Dickson, ma’am,” said the young man, Dickson with respect.

Freya chuckled.

“Mom, how are you?” Grey caressed her back gently.

“Good.”

“And the party?”

“It was great, but your sister isn’t happy at all.”

“Why, the Dick guy behind you danced with Mary.”

“Excuse me.”

Grey left the ladies behind to settle their scores with Dickson, and the second man played the middleman role while he was off.

He passed by a couple of rooms and heard the odd sounds, many people had been lodged and they all seemed to be entangled with the best game that could be played in an overnight ball, sex!

He wondered just how many were cheating on their partner's.

He stopped at Lola’s door and knocked.

It took her one minute to open up.

“Hey.”

“Hey.”

“Can I…”

“Sure, come in.”

Grey walked into the room. Lola shut the door.

Her laptop was on the bed, and her diary was opened. She was busy with something he didn’t take an interest in. he sat on the edge of the bed and looked her in the face while she stood by the door.

“Our wedding is tomorrow,” he said, “are you ready to be my wife?”

“I already signed your contract,” her response was swift, “what else do you want?”

“We will make a baby,” he stood up, “and it must be male.”

The stylist was the first to check into her room the next morning. She came with her apprentice, the young lady who held her bag and walked behind her like a scribe of the Dark Ages.

Lola had just stepped out of the bathroom with a big white towel wrapped around her abdomen.

“Ma’am,” said the stylist with a warm smile, “today is the day we partied for, but mind you…”

“I need no more warnings, old lady,” Lola sat on the stool in front of the big mirror in the room. “Come do your job already.”

“No, not here, you will come with me to the bridal room, where you will be made into a bride with the most…”

“You have said enough, I’ll come with you.”

“Okay.”

The so-called bridal room was busy. Peniel had been selected by Freya to be the chief bride’s maid, while Morgan and Auralia were the bride’s maids.

The bouquet was set on a desk, and the wedding gown was hung on a wooden mannequin. Lola walked in with the stylist and the stylist’s apprentice.

“Here she comes, the woman of the moment,” Morgan announced.

“Morgan,” said Lola, “I can see you slept well last night.”

“There are no nightmares in the life we live,” Morgan held her hand and led her to a stool. “This is where you should sit for your hair to be made.”

“No, the gown first, she has to wear the gown…” the stylist looked at Lola, “first.”

Freya took notice of the stylist’s unease. It seemed she had been scolded by the lady she went to fetch to the bridal room. She smiled and joined the both of them.

“Freya, today is your wedding day, but your stylist doesn’t look happy,” Freya sat on a stool next to Lola, “Did you scold her?”

“No, but I asked her to stop talking,” Lola said.

Freya narrowed her eyes. The mirror in front of them showed her herself and how she looked with her eyes narrowed like that of a child.

“Your beauty, Lola,” she started, “lies in the hands of your stylist, she can make you the ugliest bride in the universe, and she can make you the most beautiful bride eyes has ever seen.”

Lola turned to the stylist. She was behind her, and her gentle gaze was on Lola. Lola smiled at her, and she delayed a bit before she smiled back.

“Sorry,” said Lola, “don’t make me an ugly bride.”

They all gathered, the guests and the families of the Greys, but none from Lola’s side except Salmon who showed up in a wheelchair, and with a nurse who brought him to the garden where Lola and Grey were being wedded.

“You may kiss the bride.”

Lola’s eyes met Grey’s. his eyeballs weren’t soft, they were bold like that of the devil, and with what he said the previous night, she felt the urge to drop the ring and flee, but he took off her veil, and like lovers, they kissed.
