Chapter 46 Chapter 46
Chapter 46 Chapter 46
Amil's POV
After taking our shower and getting dressed. Draven took me to the kitchen and made me the sofilo twists once we found all the ingredients for them.
The kitchen is connected to the dining room and the living room or I guess the lounging area is right next to them. It's just a large open space with the kitchen and dining room off the side of a long hallway.
Watching him bake, makes me remember when I used to watch my grandmother bake in the little cottage we used to live in. I wonder if it's still there, in the town an hour away from Novalyn.
"What are you thinking about love?" Draven asks as he sits next to me at the table in the dining room.
"Just, wondering if the small cottage my grandmother and I lived in is still in Lyco. It's an hour away from Novalyn. We lived there for a year before moving to Novalyn."
"If it is, if it's available, do you want to buy it and live there?"
I look at him and feel my eyes swell with tears as I nod. "Yeah, I do. Maybe, after we get married?"
"Anything you want, my love. Speaking of marriage, when should we get married? I know it takes a long time to plan." He rests his head on his fist as he stares at me.
"Maybe, a year after our baby is born? I want to make sure we can have one. Um, can you, have your mother come here so I can talk to her?" I ask him as he moves a strand of my hair behind my ear.
"I can. When should I ask her to come? I think Atreus and Xander want to talk to her too. Gods your fucking beautiful." He says and I blush when he calls me beautiful.
"Dumbass, go check on the twists." I order and he chuckles before kissing me then going over to the oven and checking on the twists.
He still flirts with me every chance he gets and never fails to compliment me. Still, it makes me happy knowing he's stayed the same, even after finding out what Silas did to him.
Atreus pokes his head from around the corner as Ziven, Xander, Arvan, and everyone else walks into the dining area.
"Are those solfilo twists I smell?" Atreus asks as he walks over to his brother.
"Yeah, Amil was craving them so I made them. They're not done yet and I made enough for everyone." Draven answered.
"Reminds me of home." Eryx reminences.
"Yeah, same here. My grandmother would make them all the time. The festival, was the last time I had them." I admit, remembering when Kiara and I were in the kitchen at the Inn, baking and cooking together.
"I still think Silas did it. I mean, we wouldn't have had that, nightmare, if he didn't." Xander says as they all sit at the table and Draven sits next to me again.
"Can we, even do anything? All we've done is sit here and keep a barrier around us. What good are we doing just being sitting ducks?" Atreus asks. He's right.
All we've done is sit around, waiting for him to come to us instead of going to him and making him pay for what he did. The thing is, none of us know where he is, so even if we wanted to go to him. We can't.
"Amil, I have found your mother. And your father." Evaine announces, suddenly appearing into the dining room.
My chest tightens. Everything goes quiet. My heart beats fast in my chest. She found them. Taking a deep breath, I gather my courage and ask, "Where are they?"
"Outside. Waiting for you. You do not have to go to them. I do not expect you to. I have told your grandfather and he should be here in a moment."
Draven takes my hand and holds it. I look at him. "You don't have to see them. But if it's something you want to do, then I will go with you."
"I want answers. I want to know why they left me." The words come out breathlessly, almost like, I couldn't say them out loud, but needed to.
He nods, "Okay. We can wait for your grandfather to get here. Unless you want to go see them first, just the two of us."
I nod, "But check on the twists first. I don't want them burnt."
He smiles and kisses my forehead before getting up and checking on the twists. When he's done, we both follow Evaine outside. The snow crunching under our shoes, and looking like tiny stars under the cool afternoon sun.
It stopped snowing last night, and I wonder, if the snow will be prettier under the light of the moon.
Fear snakes his way around my body, digging his talons into me as I look at the woman, and the man, who left me to my grandmother all those years ago.
King Alaric was right, my mother does have golden blonde hair and her eyes are a darker grey than mine. Her hair reaches her hips in tight curls, looking like a curtain.
My father, has short and neat styled light brown hair, with eyes the color of fresh Spring grass. They both look to be in their late thirties.
Evaine turns to me when we get six feet away from them. "Amil, this is your mother, Relia." She said, as she motioned to my mother. "And this is your father, Cassian."
"You've grown." My mother says, her tone cold and unwavering.
"You've grown? No. Hi, how are you? What have you been doing all these years? Or better yet, I'm sorry, for leaving you with your grandmother when you were four? All I get, after years of wondering why you left me. Is a, You've grown?" I scoff and nod. "Right, because that's all I fucking deserve, right? I'm not good enough for an apology from you, right?"
"Don't talk to your mother that way." My father orders.
I glare at him, "I can talk to her however the fuck I want. Same with you. You don't get to come here and act like parents of the year after fucking leaving me! I was four! And you left me like I was a piece of rotting trash you couldn't fucking get rid of fast enough! Don't you dare tell me what the fuck to do!"
Anger envelops me like smoke. Boiling my blood as tears fall down my face as I try my best to hold back.
I feel Draven wrap an arm around my waist, pulling me close to him as he holds my hand with his free one.
"We are still your parents. It won't kill you to show us some respect." He answers, glaring right back at me.
I laugh, not because it's funny, but because I think I've finally lost my mind. "Respect? What the fuck makes you think you deserve anything from me, let alone respect? You were never there. You didn't watch me get beaten half to death at fourteen. You deserve nothing."
