Chapter 100 Hundred
AMELIA XAVIER
The tracker led me deep into the woods. I clutched my gun as my feet crunched dried dead leaves with every step I made. The light from the moon hardly penetrated due to the large branches, instead it gave this eerie feeling.
I needed to keep going.
The pathway was endless and I soon started to lose hope that maybe I wasn't going to find that bastard of a relative, Ari Xavier.
I stopped to catch my breath, resting my hands on my hips. Something told me that coming here was the worst idea ever, but it wasn't enough to stop me. Thinking back to what she had done, anger boiled within me urging me to move on.
A few minutes later, the tracker beeped, and I knew I was there. Not too far away — something like a walk from where I stood, a house came into view. It looked old and shady, but I didn't mind, my goals were set and achieving them was all that mattered.
Walking towards the building, I cocked my gun ready to shoot, but as I cracked the door open, no one was there. It was completely empty with only a chair and an unfinished cup of coffee.
“You got to be kidding me,” I murmured, turning to leave, but stopped.
If a cup of coffee was here, that meant the tracker wasn't faulty. Ari Xavier and her men were here, but wanted to play tricks on me, although I questioned if they ever knew I was coming, except…
Just then, the door behind me swung open which left me turning on instinct.
Someone clapped walking slowly into the building accompanied by men dressed in black.
Fucking Ari Xavier.
“I was expecting you, sweetheart,” she said and my eyes widened in disbelief. She knew I was coming, either someone ratted me out or she knew about the tracker and made me play right into her game.
I cursed, pointing my gun at her head. One move, and I would blow her fucking head off.
“You knew about the tracker, and made me come here!” I raved visibly disgusted at her intelligence.
“You catch on quite fast, and you came on your own freewill,” she answered walking towards me.
“Don't come close!”
She walked some more and I took a step back until my leg hit the chair and the coffee spilled, the coldness stinging my skin.
Ari Xavier came closer placing her hand on the gun and bringing it down, so it was pointed on the floor.
“Let's talk.”
I scoffed at her words. After a near death experience in the woods, all she wanted to do was talk.
I should play along.
I tucked my gun in my waist belt and waited for her to start. While she was probably finding her words, I assessed her — dark hair, dark eyes, slim figure and face just like her father. Her long dead father.
“You took everything from me,” she started, her words making me give her a funny expression as though she were mad.
“Care to explain?”
“Your father took everything from me, he killed my father and left me with that godforsaken woman he called his mother. I wasn't happy while with him, my father I mean, but…” I watched her as she paced round me, her fingers tapping at her gun ready to attack, so I got ready, and alert.
“To be honest, your father was a coward, a greedy, self involved bastard — his death was the best thing that ever happened in the history of Xavier!” I argued, eyeing her men, they were closing in on me.
Ari's expression changed, she was furious and I could tell because her ears were red, maybe even smoking hot.
“I'll kill you, and have my revenge you goddamned bitch!” She shrieked rushing towards me, I dodged her flying fist and planted my gun to her stomach.
She grimaced holding her stomach.
Her eyes were bloodshot, rage taking over her. She lunged at me, but I ducked just in time for her punch to land on my jaw.
I smacked her down and pointed my gun at her.
“It's over,” I said, pulling the trigger.
Ari cackled uncontrollably, then swiftly took a knife and slashed my leg. I screamed falling to the floor with a heavy thud. The bullet went flying and hit the wall.
Fuck!
Blood stained my leg, the wound sending pain signals to my pain. It was excruciating, but I wasn't about to give up so easily.
I took out my knife and tried to stand up. I needed to survive — survival was necessary.
“Die!” She screamed coming at me with great speed, but miscalculated because I slashed her wrist as her punch came flying. Using my head, I nodded her to the ground and quickly shot her arm.
Her men wanted to join in, but she stopped them.
“This is between us. I was destined to end this woman,” she gritted, blood running down her nose to her lips.
We were both in pain, but we had to achieve our goals — to murder each other, and we both knew one person must survive.
I stood waiting for her to come at me because my left leg wasn't in good shape, and she did, this time she elbowed me and just as I was about to dodge her next attack, she planted her knee to my stomach making blood splutter from my mouth onto the floor.
I gasped clenching my teeth, my body boiled with rage, as I struggled to stand. I leaned on my right leg and aimed my gun at her, but she must have signalled one of her men to act, because the back of a gun came in contact with my head and I stumbled, falling face flat to the ground.
I groaned in pain tasting the metallic nature of my blood.
Slowly taking out my star edged knife I shot it at her and it hit her already damaged arm. The poison was going to weaken her, that was if she wasn't already weak.
She screamed in pain, grinding her teeth together. Ari marched towards me and kicked my stomach. Tears ran down my face. I bit my lips to keep from crying out loud while my hands struggled to find a weapon.
Ari kicked my gun away to the far end of the room and pointed hers at me.
“I guess I win.”
