Chapter 143 MIND BLOWING CONFESSION
Chapter 143 MIND BLOWING CONFESSION
MICAH'S POV
I don’t wait for him to come find me, or continue this silent fight we're having between us.
As soon as I hear the keypad beeping at his entrance, I step right into the living room and block the path he takes to his bedroom.
His eyes widened faintly, before sighing and nodding like he was expecting my reaction.
I know we've not talked directly for weeks now, but he looks horrible.
“We need to talk,” I say, instead of asking the real question of why is he looking like that.
“Right now. Before you go off to handle and fix things behind my back, making it worse.”
His brows raise up faintly, but he says nothing after that, setting his bag down slowly. “Alright then.”
“There are several cameras all around the suite.” I swallow and say it just exactly as I've rehearsed over and over in the last hour.
“How long have you known about them, and did you know someone was watching us since? And don't say you only found out, I know you better than that Dante.”
He smiles faintly at my last sentence, but gets serious when he sees my annoyed expression.
Something flickers right behind his eyes as he opens his mouth to answer me, and I already instinctively know he is going to lie to me.
So instead, I don't let him talk.
“I did even more digging after I found the first four cameras,” I continued, quickly interrupting him.
“The one set up at the angle of the video Savannah used to spy on us were cheap wireless models that would have died in a week or two. But in my digging, I found something else.”
Dante tenses up, but instantly hides it with a weary sigh.
Oh you're not getting off that easy, captain.
“I discovered other cameras, and do you want to know a fascinating thing I learned? The cameras were all different.”
Dante shifts in his seat but I keep on talking.
“The other ones I found were much smaller, easily blending to the surroundings, and we're of a very different make. A much more expensive make.”
He looks me dead in the eye, and I don't flinch. “So it's either we have a new second stalker who's richer, and waiting to release more videos of us… or they're yours.”
The silence that follows thereafter has me second guessing my theory.
What if they all had been Savannah's, and I'm just here accusing him even after he warned me about Savannah?
I continue holding his stare for another long moment, before he sighs like all the air in him has been punched out.
“They're mine.” He said quietly, making me sigh with relief.
Wait. What is wrong with me?
I'm more worried about being wrong than being in this crazy situation where Dante, my ex lover, was stalking and watching me with cameras?!
Focus Micah!
“How long?”
“Since the second week you moved in.” His voice continues in a placid manner that makes my stomach turn.
“I told myself it was just for your security and safety. I said it was because my company's rivals once used a teammate to spy against me, so I couldn't take any more chances.”
Even though I splutter with outrage, he continues speaking.
“But then I saw you for the first time, and the reason changed fast. It became more selfish. I wanted to know who you liked, who you were talking to, and if you liked me.”
“You were watching me.”
“Yes.”
“In my room.”
“Yes. But only audio. You threw a sweater over the camera so I couldn't see you.”
Why the hell does he think somehow that is better?
“Alison and Max. How much of that did you ‘handle’ yourself without telling me?”
Dante doesn’t look away, but instead holds my gaze like he didn't do something wrong.
“I immediately shut Alison down the night she threatened you by making it clear what would happen to her if she continued. With Max, I was much more direct. He has cancer and doesn't want the sponsors to know, so…”
Oh fucking hell! My hands curl into fists on my lap as my voice rises a pitch.“You used his cancer against him?”
“I merely used the leverage he had, to prevent him from threatening you.” Dante answers calmly.
“There's no apology in his statement, only cold truths.
“I will not pretend like I'm remorseful when I will do the same thing in a heartbeat if he dares threaten you.”
Here it is again!
That same skipping of my heartbeat when he gives me an indirect warning, whilst staring straight at me.
The living room suddenly feels all too small and tight for me as I look away to process the fact that I've been lying in bed with a stalker who is morally grey in character.
How much of chemistry did we share between each other, or is that just another scheme from him?
“Was any of it real?” I ask without thinking, hating the way my voice trembled at the end.
“Or were you just lying to me the whole time we were together?”
Dante’s jaw tightens with confusion, before it morphs to something that looks like anger, and then finally dead set calm.
“It was real.” He takes a step closer to me instinctively, before stopping himself when he sees that I flinch subtly.
But I only flinched from the passion in his tone, and how surprising it is for me.
But I don't correct his assumption nonetheless.
“Micah the way I want you is one of mind numbing passion, that it strips every ounce of my self control every second I fight myself back to not hold you in my arms.”
Woah, easy there Dante.
“The way I want you is such a carnal emotion that I fear for my soul if something ever happens to you. I won't insult you by claiming my control issues didn’t influence our relationship, but I don't think I'm capable of changing so easily either. I watched you, arranged things in place–”
