Chapter 125 WHO IS THE MASKED WOMAN ?

Chapter 125 WHO IS THE MASKED WOMAN ?
DANTE'S POV

I pace the entire length of the shared living room area for what feels like the hundredth time already.

My bare feet are silent against the floor boards, but every one of my muscles feels so tight that it might snap.

The whole suite feels so quiet and eerie without Micah here.

After our argument last night, Micah had locked himself in front the entire night, and this morning before I could speak to him, he was gone.

Not that I have anything to say to him anyway, but I would've liked to speak to him.

Now it's already close to midnight, and I believe I've given him enough time for himself.
I keep on checking my phone like a possessed man, but there's nothing.

Not even bad news, but no news is good news, right?

The call I had with Alison earlier on keeps replaying itself in my mind.

After I had unblocked and called her yesterday, she was so hysterical and desperate, it was almost pathetic.

“Dante–”

“How fucking dare you?!”
My voice came out really loud and angry, causing her to let out a small breath in shock at my outburst.

“You corner him after practice when we're so close to championships, and then you go on to threaten him with photos that don’t even exist? All in the name of trying to force him to leave me.”

I let out a small sigh before directing all the fury I have right now at her.

“Who the hell do you think you are to me?”

She starts crying almost instantly, that high broken sobs she's practiced almost everyday to sound preppy.

“But I love you! He doesn't love you as.much as I do! I love you!”

She's gasping for air, and talking at the same time.
“Whatever he means to you, he cannot have you! Only I can! No one is allowed to touch , to even be with you, Dante! You're mine!”
I have to remove my phone from my ears when she starts going hysterical.

This isn't working anyway.
I already know she doesn't have footage, so calling her was a mistake in the first place.

“Wait!” She yells just as I'm about to press the red button.

“Don't hang up now, if you want to protect your image! I have recordings, clear ones from the study hall! If you end this call, I'm releasing them all!”

For the first time today, I actually burst into laughter.
“You couldn't have made or had time to make any recordings, Alison. I knew you were there all along.”

“...”

“I saw the shadow outside the study hall that night.” I continue even though she's not saying anything.

“I made no move and let the person watch before leaving. After pulling the CCTV footage from the hallways an hour ago, I saw that you just stood there, pressed your face to the glass and then you left.”

“No–”

“So why the hell are you still lying, and even threatening me about something you never had?!”

She started blabbering, and going in a downward spiral about how the matter would still go in her direction.

“It doesn't matter anyway! I can still come outside and swear that the incident did happen!”

I let out a small sigh when she's still trying to “threaten” me.
Clearly she's forgotten who I am.

“I can post detailed descriptions of what I saw, the downright ugly and dirty details of that day is what I'll spread  to everyone!”

I can't believe I actually had hoped that Alison would see reason and change with this warning call.

I was naive. People are ugly when they try to fight for what isn't theirs.

“People will believe me because the rumors are already spread out there! I'll go to the big blogs, the cheer chat groups and the scout's assistants! I'll make sure the both of you have no future in basketball or even getting drafted.”

“Alison, just imagine what–”

“I'll even do you one better!” She cuts in sharply.

“I'll say you forced him! Or I'll paint it as him blackmailing you, I don't care whichever version sticks! I'll just keep talking until all and every opportunity for that scholarship kid disappears! You think you can just throw me off and end things after I've begged you for months!”

I exhale deeply for patience.
I am giving Alison some grace because she did have an almost legit reason for betraying me last year.

But that's it.

“–I still have contacts, okay? One message from the ex girlfriend, and the story becomes a fact permanent on your records! You need me to be quiet, Dante. You need me on your side so give me another chance, hmm?”

She finally sighs as she lets out all what she wanted to say for so long, before finally telling me in a cool tone.

“This is my last plea and warning to you, Dante. If you refuse me, I will burn both of your reputations and records to the ground, I swear it on everything–”

I continue letting her drone on and on , waiting for it all to be over.
I'm done avoiding Alison, I'll lay it out to her once and for all.

When she finally started huffing for air, I asked one calm question to her.

“Is that why you planted cameras in our suite?”

“...”

“Cameras?” She sounded quite confused.

“What cameras are you talking about, Dante? I never–
Dante, I didn't put anything in your room. I wouldn't even be able to get in after you banned my entry. Are you accusing me of–?”

That was enough, and all I needed to hear.

So it wasn't her…

The recordings from my home security CCTV has shown a short, and slight figure dressed in all black sneaking into the suite.

The figure focused mostly in Micah’s room, to which I promptly went and destroyed everything there when he wasn't looking.

The figure was obviously female, and had a lithe figure, so my first guess was someone in the cheer team, Alison.
