Chapter 57

Lisa arrived at a room with gray colors which only consist of a long table and rows of chairs surrounding it.

Selena Melrovia, the oldest among the five witches at the table stood up at Lisa's entrance with raised eyebrows. "You said we've got an important task to do, Lisa."

Lisa nodded and dragged the master chair since she happen to be their leader. She sat down and looked at them. Selena also did.

"Very important. Difficult." Lisa told them.

"And what could that be?" A woman asked.

"The king wants us to open a portal. One that could send Luc to a place of oblivion." Lisa informed.

They all looked at themselves in confusion since it felt surreal to them.

"A portal. That's way above us. Don't think that has ever been done by any witches." Selena stated.

"But it can be. We just need the right ingredients." Lisa told her.

"And where can we find those ingredients? I don't think I've ever come across how to open a portal in one of our common grimoires." A lady stated the obvious.

Lisa sighed and nodded. "I know. I could only come up with a thought..." She trailed off and looked at Selena.

"What?" Selena asked, looking clueless.

"The grimoire, Selena. It's our only way."

Selena frowned. "But you know it locked me out, Lisa. I can't access it anymore, I can't control it."

"We have to find a way!" Lisa rose her voice in frustration. "The king is getting impatient. We couldn't find a way to kill Luc, but removing his memories didn't strip him of his powers, hell, I fear things could go much worse. I'm sure you must have heard what he's been doing to the allies of Logan. He's rampaging the city, it won't be too long before he decides to..."

"Turn himself off." Selena completed.

Lisa nodded. "You've experienced it, Selena. You can imagine being under his reign without his humanity on and if he walks that path, we're all done for. We need to banish him."

They all sighed broodingly. "So the grimoire is our only way then." One of them said.

Lisa gave her a dull look. "Don't make me spell it out."

"We've tried every spell to make it accessible to us but it turns out the book has a mind of its own. How are we gonna get it to open this time?" Selena asked.

Lisa shrugged. "It's been a long we tried to force it to open, who knows it must have rested. For now, let's just bring it to us. We need to open that portal."

Selena nodded. "Then I guess it's time to go back home and visit my granddaughter."

"Where have you guys been?" Jacob asked as Macy and Stephanie entered. It sounded more like an interrogation.

He was sitting on a chair doing nothing. Julian was behind him on a chair, looking exhausted.

Macy and Stephanie spared a glance at each other but as Macy was about to answer...

"Chill, brother. Why do you care where they went to? Macy is probably showing Stephanie around or working on something." Julian told him.

Jacob nodded. "Okay, um, have you been able to connect with Amelia? Can you..."

"Not yet," Stephanie answered him. "It turns out very powerful magic was used on me."

"Wow. That trumps curiosity. Finding out who you really are cause as it turns out, we don't even know where exactly this Amelia originates from. Who is she?" Jacob asked.

"She is..."

"No idea yet." Macy interrupted Julian. "We're working on that."

Julian nodded in agreement. "Yeah. We've got a lot of questions we don't have answers to."

Stephanie and Macy nodded in agreement.

Jacob equally nodded. "Well, I'm going out so I'm leaving things to you, Julian."

Julian furrowed his brows in confusion. "Going out? To where?"

"Somewhere important. I'll be back as soon as possible."

"And when are you leaving?" Macy asked him.

This was something she was beginning to realize. Jacob always goes on unknown personal adventures that she never cared about. She never wondered where he goes because of the trust but now, she's thinking twice about him.

"Early tomorrow," Jacob answered.

Julian blinked. "Wow. I'm already feeling bored here and now you're leaving. I'm so wishing I left with Richard."

Macy lowered her gaze and looked at Jacob. "About Richard. You said they already found Luc and Amelia, right?"

Jacob nodded. "Yep. We're lucky they're all safe and sound."

"All of them? Like nothing went wrong?" Macy inquired carefully.

Jacob tilted his head at her with narrowed eyes. "You're questioning me like you're doubting my words."

Macy immediately shook her head. "Of course not, Jacob. It's just...too easy, you know. If you get what I mean."

Jacob nodded. "Believe me I do but luck shone on them so let's not worry too much. I'll call them another time to know of their plans."

They all just nodded and he stood up toward his room.

Selena arrived at her home and looked around the empty but rough-looking house. It made her frown. "Katherine!" She yelled but got no reply.

She looked around, her eyes still sizing up the whole place. "Katherine!" She shouted again.

She grunted in frustration with her hands placed on her waist, wondering where Katherine could be.

She shook her head deciding to ignore and went to the part of the living room where she kept the grimoire and her jaw dropped at what her eyes met.

The grimoire was on a table, opened widely. She walked toward it and blinked in wonder as to why it was this way.

It was opened and to her, it felt surreal. Very strange.

She slowly extended her hands toward it and grabbed it. She has always been lucky that the grimoire didn't totally reject her as it did Lisa.

Though she could no longer control it but she could still touch and feel it.

She gently carried it open and left the house.
