Chapter 45
The next day, Macy arrived home, her mouth set in a thin line at the unfamiliar faces in front of her.
Xander and Richard were both sitting on the chair discussing something when Macy entered. They both stood up at her arrival.
"Why are you guys in here?" She asked, then in a way, it dawned on her. "You're friends of Luc, am I right?"
Richard nodded. "Yeah. We came with Julian."
She equally nodded in understanding.
"We've got questions for you."
Macy nodded. "I know. I need to freshen up first, though." She made it known and walked toward her room.
Richard and Xander glanced at each other and saw how she stopped in her track. Macy was surprised to see Steph and Bethany in her room, luckily they were dressed up, although their hair was damp.
Stephanie chuckled awkwardly, walking toward Macy. "Hi." She said. "I'm Stephanie."
Macy nodded and looked Bethany up and down. "You must be Bethany." She figured since she was familiar with her.
Bethany nodded. "Yeah. Nice to meet you. I was told you partly helped in getting me back to...well, not being a killing machine."
Macy slowly nodded and chuckled. "I should have expected this but this is all so sudden." He looked at both Richard and Xander. "You guys should wake Julian and Jacob up. We have things to discuss."
Bethany and Stephanie left her room for her and Macy entered, closing the door.
Stephanie walked up to Richard and they gave each other a long lingering kiss.
Xander went toward Jacob's door and knocked on it.
"Slept well?" Stephanie asked as they pulled away from the kiss, raking her hand through his disheveled hair.
He just shrugged. "Doesn't matter right now. I'm glad you are here, though."
Stephanie chuckled. "Now I understand what you meant by following you home. Lia said the same thing too."
Richard nodded. "And don't worry, your parents won't bother you or have a reason to worry."
Stephanie sighed. "Easy, isn't it? I feel like they're keeping something from me, and you know what it is?"
He chuckled and shook his head. "Believe me, I don't."
And truly, he knows nothing of where Stephanie and Amelia comes from, though one thing he knows definitely is that Stephanie is like him, it's just the connection she has with Amelia that's the mystery.
And now that he's back home, he'll try finding out the truth about their lineage. He's curious to know.
The door of Jacob opened and Julian came out with Jacob behind him. "She's back, right?" Jacob asked.
They nodded. "She'll be out in no time," Bethany stated.
Julian threw a big book at Richard who caught it even though he found it unexpected. Richard looked at the brown, designated book and a low chuckle escaped him. "The bestiary."
Xander walked toward Richard and took the book, accessing it, the bestiary written in gold on the brown hardcover. "Wow. It really is it."
"What do you guys need it for?" Jacob asked curiously.
Stephanie and Bethany were the most confused ones among them.
"There are just some things we need to find," Richard answered him, giving him a blank expression.
Jacob just nodded. "Okay."
As Xander unlocked the book, Macy's door opened revealing her in a white gown. She looked at every one of them and sighed knowing she's got a lot of things to do.
Knowing the task ahead of her. Knowing she's gonna have to be the one to right her sister's wrong as it usually is.
She let out a breath and walked toward them. "It's best we start going straight to the point. We don't have time to waste."
"And what should we do?" Bethany questioned.
"A tracking spell will suffice. Any of Amelia or Luc's property could help since they're both together." Macy answered.
"And you can't tell where they are?" Jacob asked.
"They're obviously Imprisoned by Logan and Lisa." Richard asserted.
Macy shook her head. "I don't think so. Luc can't die so I know Lisa came up with something. I don't think they're in her hands now."
"So, a tracking spell could help us find them?" Stephanie inquired.
Macy nodded. "If you have anything of theirs, I can work it out."
"Right. But question,..." Xander chimed in. "How did they find Luc and Amelia? They couldn't have just used voodoo to find them."
Macy sighed and shook her head. "Unfortunately, I have no idea how. What's important is for us to find them." She brought her hand out. "So, anything?"
They all gave each other glances of confusion and Stephanie blinked, looking back at Macy. She unclasped the silver necklace she was wearing around her neck and handed it to Macy. "This belongs to Amelia but since she doesn't really wear it, I took it. Will it suffice?" Stephanie asked unsurely.
Macy took the necklace and looked at it. The pendant was a circle with a star in it. It felt familiar. She knew she's seen it somewhere. "You say it belongs to Amelia?"
Stephanie nodded. "Yeah."
"Where did she get it?"
"Uh, Amelia said she's had it like forever and as far as I know, she always had it," Stephanie explained.
Macy sighed, looking back at the pendant. "It could suffice."
"But it's not going to like vanish away, right? Amelia could kill me for that."
Macy chuckled at her humor. "Of course not. It'll be fine."
Stephanie nodded, a bit surprised as she saw Macy laugh. She seems to always have a serious expression on.
"Okay, let's get on with it."

In a new territory, Amelia couldn't help but look around the cottage the inhabitants called home. Some are made of planks, some mud, some blocks, and cement depending on how rich they are.
Unlike the night before, everywhere felt silent like she was in a graveyard but in the bright morning, everywhere was crowded
Katherine gave her a black fringe, and a long wig to wear so she won't be the center of attention which she easily accepted even though she hasn't yet understood the deal with Katherine.
The middle-aged unkept woman she was looking at gave her her bread wrapped in nylon and she handed the woman her money. The woman snatched it and went further to attend to other customers.
Amelia furrowed her brows wondering who everyone is in the world. Most people walking around and working seem to be hungry people. Their faces look sad and tired.
She blinked and turned away to walk back toward the home she was coming from. Katherine's family home is a cottage made out of blocks and designed with beautiful flowers. It stood out amid all the other cottages close to it.
As she walked, a little boy wearing a brown shirt torn in the shoulder and a white shabby and dirty trousers stopped in front of her, extending his hand out.
It was obvious he was begging for alms. Everyone seems to be suffering including kids like the one in front of her who looks alone and lonely.
Amelia sighed and dropped the remaining gold coins in her hand on the little boy's small hand. There was a broad smile on his face as he took the money. "Thank you."
Amelia smiled back and the boy ran away to get himself something to eat. Hopefully, Katherine won't mind if she gave her money out.
After a few walks, she arrived at Katherine's home and entered. She walked toward the dining room and dropped the bread on the table, before walking toward the room Finn was sleeping in.
She saw Katherine inside sitting on a brown chair and observing his pulse. Finn still asleep was a thing to worry about. He was getting paler, looking like a dead person.
"Are you a doctor, or physician?" Amelia asked, sitting on the bed.
It was something Katherine seem to always do, and she haven't had the clear mind to ask.
Katherine shook her head and let go of Finn's hand. "No. I'm something else." She looked at Amelia. "What did they do to him? His unconscious state seems to have been caused by something."
Amelia nodded. "That witch..." She uttered with gritted teeth. "That witch they call Lisa sprayed some kinda powder on him..."
"Knock-out powder, I figured." Katherine interrupted, nodding her head.
"He's fine, right?" Amelia asked hopefully.
Katherine nodded and stood up. "Definitely. He'll wake up very soon. Why don't we go prepare ourselves breakfast and chat about who we are."
Amelia equally stood up. "I'll very much like that."
