Chapter 22 Meeting in the woods
Dona turned to Hazel but was immediately heartbroken when she noticed Hazel wasn't saying anything about it.
Pissed and unsure of what next to do, she rushed out of the room.
“Dona”!
Hazel called but she was already gone. She turned to Cathy and spoke.
“Why do I feel you are trying to upset her intentionally”?
She asked and Cathy rested her back on the bedhead as though she didn't just ruin the entire mood.
“I told you already, I don't like her. I don't trust her enough to have her take care of Lucian".
She said but Hazel couldn't help but feel like she was overstepping.
“Dona has being with Lucian for five years Cathy, she practically helped me birth the boy. You can't strip her of something she has fully cherishes just because you want to”.
She said and Cathy sat properly, looking at how Hazel had suddenly become serious.
“Why are you so serious about it? I just felt it'll be a good opportunity to get to know Lucian".
She said but Hazel shook her head.
“Not at he expense of someone else! Lucian can get to know you and be very close to you. You know I'd want that more than anything but the position of godmother is gone”.
She said and Cathy immediately stood up.
“Fine!! I won't stay then. Since you got back you'd rather be with her instead of me anyways. I'm obviously not welcome here”.
She said, packing up her things to leave.
“Cathy, I didn't mean it like that”.
She said but Cathy ignored her and just walked out, leaving her alone in the room.
Hazel closed her eyes and collapsed on the bed.
Cathy has been her friend since they were kids and they practically did everything together like sisters but Dona wasn't any less important just because she came into the picture much later.
She had proven herself time and again and showed that she is a good friend.
Hazel was in a dilemma, although she couldn't bring herself to trust any of them fully right now, she still didn't want to hurt any of them. But at this point, it's either they get along or they all keep hurting each other.
Dona kept running without being sure of where she was going. She wasn't even sure if she was mad at Cathy's audacity or Hazel's silence, she was just too angry and needed to blow off some steam.
Running behind the mansion, she had gone deep into the woods before she noticed.
Trying hard to catch her breathe, she began looking around, trying to figure out where she was.
She was still looking around with one hand hand on her chest and the other one her waist when she suddenly stumbled of red glowing eyes and a growl.
Her breathing immediately went silent and she began moving backwards as quietly as she could.
She knew what that was and she wasn't ready to be torn apart by a hungry werewolf.
She could feel it moving close as she moved back and with no other option, she turned around and took to her heels, running as fast as she could.
As she ran, it chased after her and seeing how it was getting closer, she began yelling as loudly as she could but before she knew it, it had pushed her to the floor.
She was lying with her head facing the moon but her eyes closed shut, waiting for the pain but nothing came so she slowly opened her eyes, only to be met with those cold and almost empty eyes that only brightened when they saw Hazel.
“Miguel”?
She called and his hands that were on the floor folded into a fist as even the way she called his name was beginning to drive him crazy.
He said nothing and just kept looking at her but she couldn't help but notice his bare chest.
Dona was still innocent as most people ran away from her or tried to kill her most of her life so she didn't really have time to know men much but she has read a lot of books to know how the body reacts and seeing his well chiseled chest in front of her made her swallow hard as her heart began to beat fast.
'could this be… lust'?
She thought as her hand unconsciously went to his chest, touching him gently.
Miguel groan to her touch, trying so hard not to show he was being tortured but she wasn't stopping, she kept tracing his body with her fingers, every step doing things to him.
She looked away from his chest and looked back at his eyes.
When she came in contact with his cold gaze, she immediately removed her hand and her feeling of lust was immediately replaced with fear.
“Could you… get off me please”?
She asked but he remained there for a few more seconds before standing up.
“Why are you in the woods alone by this time of the night”?
He asked after they were both on their feet and she sighed.
“I don't even know when I got here”.
She said and looked at him.
“Is it far back”?
She asked but he said nothing and began walking away and she immediately followed him.
“This is Kael's personal route to the general woods. You're lucky you were still in his lands”.
He said and stopped, turning to her and causing her to come to an instant halt.
“A few more steps into the woods and you would have being fresh meat for countless werewolves”.
He said and she swallowed, determined to never go to the woods again.
“Thanks”.
She said when she noticed he was about to leave and he turned back to her with a brow raised.
“I know you don't really like me, thank you for not killing me”.
She said and raised her head so she could see his eyes.
Unable to look at her, he looked away.
“I have no bad feelings towards you”.
He said and began walking away. His words made Dona smile as she rushed to him.
“Really? You don't hate me”?
She asked but was met with deafening silence.
“If that's the case, lets be friends”.
She said and he came to an immediate pause.
