Chapter 25 25

Chapter 25 25
Lacey POV

“She’s not your replacement, Lacey. She can’t be compared to you; she’s just a maid!” Henry retorted, trying to make it look as if I was the crazy one.
But I knew what I saw. I noticed how his eyes wouldn’t leave her body, the way she blushed, and the flirtatious look he threw her way, so no, I wasn’t overthinking things. Something deep was going on in the background, something I wasn’t aware of.

I took a step closer to him, his masculine scent wafted into my nostrils, oh, how I’ve missed him, but my anger clouded my feelings for him.
“She is just a maid yet you couldn't take your eyes off her curvaceous body, when was the last time you looked at me that way? Ever since I gave birth to Eloise, you have treated me like a stranger, like I didn’t matter to you!” I yelled, my chest rising and falling very fast. All of a sudden I felt very dizzy, a reminder that my body still needed a little bit of rest.

He turned away facing the window, outside, the members of the pack chatted amongst themselves, none of them paying us any mind, they‘d grown far too used to our drama and arguments to care anymore.
He ran his hands through his long raven hair that was let loose framing his chiseled face, then he turned to face me, “Do you trust me ?”
I hesitated, for the first time in years, I realized I didn’t have an answer to this. How did I notice we have drifted this apart?

“Don’t change the topic, Henry.”
“Well, you need to trust me and stop overthinking things,” he paused, taking in a deep breath, “you’ve been in bed for weeks, you were weak, unable to eat, I was scared for your life, this isn’t surely the best way to welcome you back.”

“You should have thought about that before listing after another woman!”

“I wasn’t…”

“Don’t you dare gaslight you, I know what I saw, I can feel it, you don’t love me anymore, something is wrong between us and don’t you dare try to make it seem like I’m insane when we both know I’m not!”

He nodded, smiling, then the smile faded, a look of pity replacing it. “How can you say this Lacey? I was lonely, I had to watch you lose your spark every day, I was so lonely but then I’d never cheat on you, never!”

“So what was that about?”

“Can you just forget about that and be happy you are alive?”
“No I can’t, I have a feeling you cheated on me Henry, with that Whore, how could you?” I yelled, tears blurring and burning my vision.

“I’m not doing this with you, Lacey, you need to rest."With that he turned his back to me, he packed a few things, his sword, some clothes, a sign that he wasn’t spending the night in our chamber.

I held his arm, "Where are you going?” I asked.
“You can have the room all to yourself, I won’t let you get me annoyed again,” he hissed and I retreated, “I’m glad you woke up.”
With that, he disappeared into thin air leaving me alone once again with my thoughts, the ones that threatened to tear me apart.
I leaned against the wooden door as I cried my heart out, I clasped my clammy hands together, a sign that I hadn’t healed properly, maybe he was right, I needed some rest.

I sat at the edge of the bed, different thoughts flying into my head; was I the one overthinking things?
Has he been faithful all these weeks I’ve been unconscious?
I rubbed my temple as I felt the migraine springing up again, I took a sip from the potion beside me, which calmed me down for a bit.

“I’m going to find out what you’ve been up to, Henry!” I muttered to myself while taking another sip.
Each sip cured me, but then my thoughts were interrupted by a screech from the door, I straightened and Andrea stepped in quietly. She looked calm yet tense.

“My lady!” She said, kneeling.
“Can’t I have some privacy in this house?” I yelled taking a sip from the potion.

“I’m sorry my lady, I have something to say.”
I arched a brow suddenly interested in what she had to say. “Which is?”

Andrea paused, her fingers fiddling with the hem of her white almost transparent dress. “You deserve the truth, my queen.” She purred.

“What truth?” I asked.

She glanced at the door as if trying to make sure no one was peeping, or Henry wasn’t coming back, then she lowered her voice to her whisper.

“He’s been sleeping around with that new maiden,” she bellowed. “I’ve seen them together more than once, at the stable, even outside, making love close to the stream, they seem madly in love with one another.”

Her words hit me like a sledgehammer and for a moment I forgot how to breathe, I couldn’t speak because I was too angry too, my skin simmered with fury as I began to imagine the image of Henry making love to another woman except me.

“No!” I roared, “You’re lying!”I whispered.

“I have no reason to lie to you, my queen, I’m just keeping you updated!” Andrea assured me.

My lips turned up evilly, how dare Henry do this to me? I clenched hard to the sheets as I forced myself to remain calm.

“Any other thing I should know?” I asked, nonchalantly.
Andrea nods, “Yes, my lady. He also lied about the battle against the witches.”
“I don’t understand.” I scorned.

She scoffed, “That didn’t happen, his men never fought for the Blue blood pack, in fact I overheard his guards saying they canceled it, and they were glad they didn’t even fight for Chloe and her family.”

I was in utter disbelief, why would he lie to me about something like that?

“Why would he do that? I’m his wife, I'm Luna, I deserve to know the truth!” I griped.

Andrea bowed her head. “Maybe he doesn’t trust you, my lady, after all, he thinks you are evil…” Her words faltered instantly.
“Evil? How?”I asked, I couldn’t believe my own ears, everything felt like a bad dream. A nightmare.
“A few days ago, I overheard him telling the medicine man he thinks your illness was a result of your evils catching up with you. He wanted to give you mercy killing, but the medicine stopped him.”

My heart skipped a beat, “Mercy killing?”

She nodded, “Yes, he also has been visiting the blueblood territory frequently, something tells me he goes there to see Chloe!”

I didn’t know what to say, I just stared at the blank space, unable to believe my own ears.
“Don’t worry, I don’t believe any of that, I care about you and I think you are just misunderstood!”
Surprisingly a smile played on my lips, “Maybe they are right!”

“No, they aren’t…”

“They are!” I cut her off, my voice suddenly calm and stable. “I’m evil, and I’d show him what it feels like to be evil.”
Andrea blinked twice, “No, my lady…”
“Thank you for the information but I need you to stop babying me around, back off, Andrea,” I said, walking past her out of the chambers.

Henry thought I was evil, I’m sure everyone thinks that, but neither of them knew why I had to do what I did, I killed my mate to protect Henry but here he was cheating on me. I’d teach him what an evil woman does.

As soon as I reached the bottom of the staircase, I saw the new maiden, she was mopping the staircase, and looking at her closely just made me realize how young and attractive she was, no wonder he couldn't resist her honey brown eyes.
As soon as our eyes met, she stopped cleaning, dropping her head to the ground.
Guilt, it was written all over her.

I strode slowly towards her, “Hi, new maid.” I purred.
“My queen, excuse me,” she bowed curtly about leaving but I blocked her path.
“Wait. A word.”
She nodded, I could hear her breathing, loud, and sweat had formed on her forehead.
I circled her like I’d just seen my prey. “I’m sure you know who I am, right?”
“Yea, yes, my lady.”

“Good, you should also know I'm the one who rose from the dead, I always get what I want, so lying to me would be…. Unwise.” I cheered even though my tone was laced with anger.

“I don’t…. I don’t understand, my queen,” she stammered.
“I think you do, did you sleep with the king or not?” I asked.
She shook her head, fear written all over her face, “My lady….”

“SSH” I cut her off placing a finger on her lips, and then a smile crept onto my face as I cupped her jaw and leaned close kissing her softly on the lips. “No need to deny honey…. I like you, we can share him if you want.”

She gasped, her eyes widened in disbelief.
