Chapter 174 Letting Keira Go
Chapter 175 Aiden is Not Dead Yet
Keira hesitated for a moment and didn't speak.
"Keira, stop hesitating. Lucky for you, Justin let you go this time; you could have been killed."
His tone carried a hint of approval for Justin, as well as lingering fear.
"Thank you, Dashiell." Keira thanked him quietly, somewhat bitterly.
She knew that if Dashiell could find this place, it meant he'd been keeping track of her movements all along.
He had always been like this, appearing whenever she needed him.
"No need to be so formal with me." Dashiell's gaze was gentle.
He took a deep breath and slowly spoke, his voice low and clear,
"Keira, come with me. Leave this place. I'll take you away to somewhere no one knows us, and we can start over.
I'll protect you, I'll never let anything happen to you, and never let anyone hurt you again, just like, just like I promised you when we were kids."
This sudden confession made Keira's whole body stiffen.
She suddenly looked up, meeting Dashiell's eyes filled with tenderness and hope.
The warm boy from her memories overlapped with the mature man before her.
That promise, delayed by over a decade, should have been touching.
But,
Her hand unconsciously moved to her belly.
She'd been so busy lately, she hadn't had time for the abortion.
This life, along with her two children, was a mark between her and Aiden that could never be erased.
They were also the deepest divide between her and any other man.
"Dashiell, thank you for your kindness. But I'm sorry." She spoke heavily.
The light in Dashiell's eyes instantly dimmed.
He asked urgently, "Why? Keira, what are you still afraid of? Are you afraid of my mom? Or afraid of Aiden?
Don't worry, this time I'll definitely arrange everything properly. I won't let anyone find us again!"
"It's not about fear." Keira raised her head, looking at him calmly,
"Dashiell, I'm not that little girl waiting for your protection anymore.
I've been through too much, and there are changes I can't undo."
"I don't care!" Dashiell suddenly stopped the car.
His eyes churned with crazy obsession, "Keira, I don't care!
I only care about you! As long as you're by my side, I don't care about anything else."
"But I care!" Keira forcefully pulled her hand away from his, raising her voice slightly.
"Dashiell, wake up! Between us lies over a decade of time.
And besides, I don't want any more emotional entanglements with anyone from the Coleman family!"
Seeing the hurt in his eyes, she felt some sympathy, but she had to be firm now.
"Dashiell, you'll always be that friend who gave me warmth and protected me, my family.
That will never change, but that's all it can be."
These words completely crushed the faint hope in Dashiell's heart.
Looking at her, he felt his chest hollow and empty.
All his tenderness, all his waiting, seemed so ridiculous in the face of her choice.
Just then, his phone vibrated in his pocket.
He mechanically took it out. It was a message from the hospital.
He glanced down at it, his expression changing slightly, a flash of something complex in his eyes.
"Keira." He spoke, his voice returning to its previous gentleness, but if you listened carefully, you could detect the tension,
"The hospital just sent word that Aiden's condition has suddenly gotten worse. The doctors are doing emergency treatment again."
"What?" Keira's whole body shook.
Emergency treatment again?
Although she hated him, feared him, and wanted to escape from him, hearing this news, her heart still clenched uncontrollably!
That image of him throwing himself over to protect her in the car accident appeared clearly before her eyes again.
He couldn't die, at least not because of saving her. That sense of debt would crush her!
"I, I have to go see!" She almost blurted out, lifting her foot to get out of the car.
"Keira, you can't go!" Dashiell grabbed her,
"If you go to the hospital now, you're walking into a trap! My mom's people are definitely still there waiting!
If she finds you, do you think you'll survive? Justin let you go this time, but he might not next time! It's too dangerous!"
"But," Keira was anxious, and in the face of life and death, everything else seemed pale and powerless.
"No buts!" Dashiell gripped her arm tightly.
"I'll go to the hospital right away! I'll stay there and keep you updated on the situation!"
His suggestion was also the safest arrangement.
Dashiell patted the back of Keira's hand, gave her a few more instructions, took Keira to one of his properties in the suburbs, then hurried away.
The door closed, and Keira weakly leaned against the wall, her heart full of confused worry.
Downstairs, Dashiell quickly got into his car, and the worried expression on his face instantly vanished without a trace.
In its place was a cold calmness.
He took out his phone and dialed a number.
"I want him to stay in a coma forever. Be careful, don't leave any evidence. As for payment, I'll double it."
Hanging up, he leaned back in his seat, watching everything rapidly receding outside the car window, his gaze cold.
Keira, what if Aiden, the biggest obstacle, disappeared forever?
When that time comes, can you still reject me?
The car sped through the night toward the hospital.
Arriving at the hospital.
Mira was anxiously speaking in low tones with Aiden's attending physician.
Her face was ashen, her eyes bloodshot, clearly on the edge of collapse.
Seeing Dashiell appear, the worry in Mira's eyes was instantly replaced by fury.
She rushed forward a few steps and, before Dashiell could react, viciously slapped him across the face!
The bodyguards and medical staff standing nearby were all stunned, instinctively lowering their heads, not daring to look.
"Dashiell! Was it you! Did you hide that bitch?"
Mira's voice was shrill and piercing. She pointed at Dashiell's nose, trembling,
"I knew it! I knew you were just like Aiden, both bewitched by that bitch!
Do you know what you've done? You let her go. What if she goes out and talks nonsense, or uses some dirty tricks to harm Aiden again?"
Dashiell's head turned from the blow, but he quickly turned back.
He raised his hand and lightly wiped the corner of his mouth.
"Mom, that's enough. Keira has already been hurt badly enough by the Coleman family.
All these years, what kind of life has she lived? Don't you know?
Now Aiden is lying in there between life and death. Is all of this her fault? Can't you just let her go?"
"Let her go? Has she let the Coleman family go?" Mira's voice suddenly rose.
"Let me tell you, Dashiell, if you have any conscience left, tell me where she is right now. I want her to pay for all this with her life!"
Dashiell's eyes suddenly turned cold. "Mom, you've really lost it. Aiden isn't even dead yet! And you're already thinking about killing Keira?"
