Chapter 173: Let's See Who Can Save You This Time

Chapter 174 Letting Keira Go

This time, Keira, no one will be able to save you.

The long day finally passed. As night fell, the atmosphere in the ICU became even heavier than during the day.

Keira had been staying outside the ward keeping watch, but the medical staff insisted she go rest in the adjacent room. She had no choice but to comply.

Now she felt like she was under house arrest again, with someone watching her 24/7. This feeling really annoyed her.

Justin personally brought in dinner—a bowl of oatmeal porridge with a few light side dishes on the tray.

His expression was calm as usual.

"Ms. Lynn, you've barely eaten all day. Have some oatmeal porridge, it's good for your stomach."

He placed the tray on the bedside table, his voice flat.

Keira leaned against the headboard, her gaze calmly sweeping over the bowl of oatmeal before landing on Justin's face.

She said indifferently, "I'm not hungry. Just leave it there."

"Eat at least a little. You look terrible," Justin urged. "If Mr. Coleman wakes up and sees you like this, he'll worry."

Keira's heart twitched slightly.

She said nothing more and reached out to pick up the bowl of oatmeal.

But as she lifted the spoon, scooped up a small mouthful, and brought it to her lips, her movement paused slightly.

Something was wrong with the taste.

Although the oatmeal's aroma masked it well, she still caught the scent of medicine.

Instantly, countless thoughts flashed through her mind.

They were finally making their move!

The overwhelming sense of danger made her blood run cold, but she couldn't panic—she had to use their scheme to her advantage!

Without showing any emotion on her face, she put the spoonful of oatmeal in her mouth and swallowed.

Then she forced down two more spoonfuls before putting down the bowl. "I suddenly feel a bit dizzy. I want to sleep for a while."

After speaking, she slowly leaned back against the pillow.

Justin stood by the bed, watching her "pass out." He took a deep breath and gave some quiet instructions to someone outside the door.

Soon, two people in white coats came in, moved Keira onto a mobile bed, and wheeled her out. Justin followed closely behind.

The car sped through the night, leaving the city center and stopping in front of an old villa.

"Ms. Lynn, stop pretending. I know you're not unconscious," Justin said flatly.

On the bed, Keira's eyelashes trembled almost imperceptibly, but she didn't open her eyes right away.

Justin continued, "The drug in the oatmeal was a light dose—it only makes your limbs weak, not enough to knock you out immediately. With your alertness, there's no way you couldn't taste it. You're faking."

This time, Keira slowly opened her eyes.

She really hadn't expected him to see through her act.

"Mira made you do this," she said.

Not a question, but a statement.

Justin didn't deny it. He just closed his eyes painfully, and when he opened them again, they were filled with turmoil.

"Yes. Mrs. Coleman won't allow you near Mr. Coleman anymore."

"So you're going to kill me?" Keira's tone remained calm, as though discussing the weather.

"I..." Justin suddenly clenched his fists. Looking at her calm, emotionless face, his feelings were incredibly complicated. He almost roared, "I can't do it."

His voice echoed in the empty villa as he staggered back a step, as if all his strength had been drained.

"I've been with Mr. Coleman for over ten years, watching him get to where he is today step by step. I want him to be well more than anyone! But ever since he met you, everything changed. Am I supposed to just stand by and watch Mr. Coleman lose his life over you?"

Keira quietly listened to his accusations without interrupting.

"So killing me will solve the problem?" she asked softly.

Justin trembled violently, his face losing all color.

Right—what would happen to Aiden? With Aiden's obsessive possessiveness over Keira, if he woke up and found Keira "dead," he would definitely investigate to the end.

What would happen to him then?

Just imagining the consequences made him shudder!

"I... I..." Justin was incoherent. He slowly crouched down, torn apart by conflicting emotions that nearly drove him mad.

Keira watched him break down, feeling no satisfaction, only desolation.

After a long while, Justin slowly raised his head, his eyes strangely calmer.

He stood up, walked over to Keira, pulled out a car key from his pocket along with a small stack of cash and a forged ID, and shoved them all into her hands.

"Behind the villa, there's an old car with a full tank of gas. It can't be traced. This money and ID will get you by for now. After this, you're on your own."

Keira held the cold car key and papers in her palm, looking at him in shock. "You..."

"Go!" Justin suddenly turned around. "Before I change my mind! Don't ever appear in front of me again!"

With that, he stopped looking at her and strode toward the villa entrance, waving at the two people waiting in the distance, signaling them to leave.

But Keira fell into an indescribable emotional state.

Should she leave? Or stay?

Aiden's life was hanging in the balance right now. He ended up like this because of her—how could she just leave?

But if she didn't go, once he woke up, would she ever have another chance to leave?

Keira was torn, not knowing what to do for a moment.

She stared blankly at the night sky outside the window, Aiden's worried expression from before the accident surfacing in her mind.

Her heart stirred with emotion again.

"Keira." Just then, a familiar male voice called out.

Keira jumped in surprise.

Instinctively looking toward the source of the voice, she saw Dashiell striding over, carrying the chill of the night.

"Are you okay?" Dashiell's face was full of concern. "I came as soon as I got the news. I'm so glad you're alright—you scared me to death!"

So he also knew she had almost been killed.

"I'm fine." Keira's voice was heavy. Although she hadn't died, she couldn't smile.

"Come with me." Dashiell grabbed her hand, his gaze intense. "I'll protect you from now on."

Keira's expression stiffened, a strange feeling rising in her heart.

He should be the person she trusted most, but somehow, at this moment, she didn't want to be too entangled with him.

The gulf between them was indeed hard to bridge.

"Dashiell, I haven't figured out what to do yet." Keira was somewhat helpless. "Can you give me some time?"

"There's no time!" Before she could react, Dashiell suddenly swept her up in his arms and headed outside. "When you came here, my mother's people had already set out. We have to leave now."

His embrace was broad and warm, full of security, but Keira's body was stiff, not daring to fully rely on it.

She found herself thinking of Aiden again.

Although he was always fierce, always ordering her around, whenever danger came, he was always the first to shield her, and his arms also made her feel safe.

The two got in the car. Dashiell floored the gas pedal, and the car shot out like an arrow, cutting through the night.

"Keira, you have to hide for a while, or it's too dangerous," Dashiell said.

Keira laughed bitterly. She hadn't expected that as soon as Aiden fell, her life would be threatened too.
