Chapter 158: Loved the Wrong Person

Chapter 159: It's Just an Allergy, It Won't Kill

Justin hesitated for a moment and answered in a low voice,

"Mr. Coleman, Ms. Grey is outside. She looks very worried and guilty. She said she wants to be alone for a while."

A trace of surprise crossed Aiden's pale face.

Then, a faint smile curved at the corner of his mouth.

Late at night, the VIP floor of the hospital was silent.

Keira didn't know how she had walked out of the ward area.

Like a ghost, she made her way to the stairwell of the emergency exit, curled up on the steps, and buried her face deep into her knees.

After who knows how long, a suit jacket still warm with body heat was gently draped over her shoulders.

Keira's whole body trembled.

Aiden was standing in front of her without her knowing when he'd arrived. His face was still somewhat pale.

Wearing a hospital gown, he looked at her with complicated eyes.

"Why are you sitting here alone? Isn't it cold in the middle of the night?" His voice was much softer than usual.

This sudden gentleness pierced Keira's confused heart once again.

She instinctively shrank back, avoiding his hand that tried to help her up.

Aiden's hand froze in mid-air.

Keira raised her tear-filled face and looked at him, as if trying to confirm something, or making a final struggle,

"Aiden, have we known each other for over ten years?"

"Yes," Aiden answered without thinking.

Keira was stunned, her mind in complete chaos.

After a long while, she comforted herself that now, nothing mattered anymore.

What the truth was, what love and hate were, none of it mattered anymore.

What mattered was leaving.

"Don't worry, it's just an allergic reaction. I'm not going to die." Aiden said.

Keira didn't respond.

The next day, his condition had improved quite a bit, and he wanted to take her somewhere.

The car stopped in front of an ancient church with a hundred years of history, located halfway up a mountain.

The morning light painted the church's spire a warm gold, and the surroundings were quiet, with only the rustling sound of wind through the leaves.

The moment Keira stepped out of the car, her steps paused slightly.

She remembered this church.

Many years ago, she had seen its photo in a travel magazine.

At that time, she had pointed at the photo and told Aiden that if she ever got married, she hoped to have her wedding in this church.

He actually remembered, and even brought her here specially?

A strong wave of dizziness hit her, almost making her unable to stand.

Fragments of memory intertwined with reality, the image of that warm boy and the cold Aiden before her eyes overlapped and separated, making her unable to tell if this moment was real or a dream.

She stood dazed in front of the church, as if through the building before her, she could see another version of herself in a different time and space.

Aiden stood beside her, watching the complex expression on her face. His heart stirred, and he quietly took out his phone and pressed the shutter.

Keira went inside to look around and stayed for a long time.

She hadn't expected that she would have a chance to come here in her lifetime.

What a pity, it was too late.

She was no longer that silly girl who only knew how to dream.

That evening, in the hotel restaurant, Aiden's mood was noticeably better.

He rarely set aside his usual coldness and took the initiative to serve her food and pour water.

The lighting was soft, the music soothing, and the atmosphere became harmonious.

Keira wasn't as cold as usual. She sat quietly, eating small bites.

She didn't refuse his care.

Her compliance and quietness made Aiden think she was finally starting to let go of her resentment.

However, what he couldn't see was that deep in those calm eyes was a determination colder than glaciers.

After dinner, they returned to the suite.

Aiden seemed to want to say something, but Keira already showed signs of fatigue.

She said softly, "I'm tired, I want to rest early."

Then she walked straight into the bedroom and closed the door.

Aiden stood in the living room, looking at that tightly closed door, strangely feeling not much displeasure.

Instead, he felt a sense of reassurance that "there's plenty of time ahead."

He thought the ice barrier between them was melting.

Inside the bedroom door was a different world.

Keira opened her laptop and looked at the latest email from Isaac.

The new identity documents were ready, and the escape route had been arranged.

She glanced at the date.

They would return home the day after tomorrow afternoon—perfect timing.

That day was Zoey's new song launch event, and Aiden would definitely go, giving her the perfect opportunity.

On the way back, the atmosphere was calm.

Keira leaned against the car window, but from the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Aiden typing on his screen, with the recipient clearly being "Zoey."

She sneered inwardly but remained calm on the surface.

Right after, she saw on the entertainment headlines that Zoey would hold a new song launch event tomorrow afternoon.

Everything was as expected.

Keira took the opportunity to speak up, "Tomorrow afternoon, I want to go see Apollo. I haven't seen him in a long time."

Aiden looked up at her.

Seeing her expression was normal, he nodded, "Okay, I'll have the driver take you. I have something at the company tomorrow afternoon, so I might come home late."

"Okay," Keira responded, and the last stone in her heart fell into place.

As soon as they got home, Keira's phone vibrated. It was Jessica.

She answered the call, and Jessica's cursing voice immediately came through,

"That idiot Joshua thinks Ella is his daughter. He won't listen to my explanation at all. What should I do, Keira!"

Keira's heart sank.

Had Joshua lost his mind?

This completely disrupted her plan to take Ella with her.

If Joshua insisted on fighting for custody, forcibly taking Ella away would not only be extremely difficult but might even bring police investigation.

Exposing their whereabouts and implicating Apollo and herself—the risk was too great!

In a flash, Keira made a decision.

"Jessica, listen to me. The situation has changed. Ella can't come with me."

"What?" Jessica cried out in shock.

"If I forcibly take Ella away, Joshua will spare no effort to track us down, and none of us will be able to leave."

Keira said coldly,

"The plan must be adjusted. Tomorrow, I'll only take Apollo and leave. Ella will stay with Joshua for now—that's actually the safest option."

There was silence on the other end for a few seconds, then Jessica's sobbing voice came through,

"I understand, Keira. I'm sorry for causing you trouble again. I'm useless—I can't even protect Ella."

"Don't say that!" Keira's heart ached. "Jessica, pull yourself together! This isn't your fault. Once I'm settled, I'll contact you right away!"

After hanging up, Jessica wiped away her tears, a cold, desperate determination flashing in her eyes.

For Ella's sake, she had to fight this once!

She used a different number to call Joshua,

"Joshua, I want to see Ella right now. Otherwise, I'll die at your doorstep and make the Wilson family tomorrow's headline news!"

Joshua was shocked by her madness and cursed her as crazy.

But ultimately, fearing she would actually do something extreme and damage the Wilson family's reputation, he reluctantly agreed with a dark expression.

Half an hour later, at the Wilson Villa.

Jessica finally saw Ella being brought out by the nanny.

When Ella saw Jessica, she immediately cried and threw herself into her arms.
