Chapter 33

Moments after the evil act took place, Desire staggered to her feet, touched her neck, and winced as it hurt like hell. She was sure it would leave a mark, so she covered it properly with her hair.

She could’ve gone back to report to her master or maybe leave to report it to the court lady but she brushed off the idea and moved on to the kitchen. She didn’t want to start a controversy in the mansion even though she had no idea who could have hated her so much to step on her neck.

“Did he collect it from you?” Lady Nor asked as she saw Desire walked on to the kitchen.

“Yes ma” Desire replied quietly and went back to sorting out the seasonings used in the kitchen.

“We’ll soon start preparing Lunch, Desire. Find Fei and tell her to report here immediately” Desire nodded and left what she was doing.

Lady Nor saw that she was acting strange and decided to question her actions.

“What’s wrong, Desire? You’re quiet somehow” Lady Nor asked.

“Everything is fine, Lady Nor. Thank you” Desire replied.

As she was about to walk out of the kitchen in search of Fei, she met with the court lady who was also coming into the kitchen.

“Where are you going?” The court lady asked.

“I was about to look for Fei so we can start preparing lunch,” Desire explained.

“We will sort lunch out. Fei is waiting for you outside. The both of you would be going to the market to get enough food and fruits. I’ve already given Fei a list of what she should get and I need you to go with her” Desire nodded.

When Desire moved, her hair moved a bit and by chance, Lady Nor saw the red mark that was on her neck, shocking the poor old lady to the core. She wondered where she got such a mark.

“Desire,” she called out. “See me when you get back”

“Okay ma”

Desire walked out of the kitchen in search of Fei. Once she spotted her at the outside of the mansion, she was in the company of two guards and also Cassandra.

“Desire! I didn’t know you’ll be coming with us” Cassandra giggled, excited to see her friend.

“I didn’t know you’ll be coming as well, little Cassandra” Desire gushed out, already forgetting about the incident.

“I didn’t know you were coming. The snow Queen only told us we should wait for someone” Fei said

“At least Cassandra won’t have to be with someone she doesn’t like”

“Yes!” Cassandra shouted and Fei glared at her while Desire chuckled.

“Desire, let me introduce you to my brother” Cassandra said pointing to one of the guards who had followed them.

“Your brother?”

“Chang, look at my Desire, the same person I’ve always told you about” The person turned and Desire was tongue tied.

“Chang, how come you’re here?” Desire cried out and threw her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly.

“I knew you were working here so I applied to work here too so I’ll see you. I tried approaching you the other night when you came back to the mansion but you didn’t see me” He explained.

Years ago when Desire had met Chang on her eighteenth birthday, he was just 18 himself too but now he looked manly and so handsome. Even though they never saw each other again after then, the two still kept on writing letters to each other and it wasn’t just an ordinary letter, it was a love letter.

The two claimed to be in love with each other and wouldn't want to see the other with another person and waited for the chance to finally see each other again.

“I’m so happy to see you again” Desire said giddily

“Me too Desire. I got worried when you didn’t reply to my letters but I’m glad you’re safe”

Desire remembered the letter he was talking about. She couldn’t reply because that was the day she got condemned into the dungeon.

“Sorry I couldn’t reply to your letter Chang, it was a really hard time” Desire apologized.

They all kept on walking the remaining distance till they finally got to the market. They purchased most of what they wanted to buy and made a decision of coming back to get it the next day. They could have gotten them but there was no extra pair of hands to carry them nor was there a horse to help them.

By the time they returned to the mansion, it was sunset. Desire and Chang bid farewell, promising to see each other every day, while Cassandra went on to finish her work in the garden. Fei and Desire were helped by other servants and maids in getting the items bought into the storehouse.

“Lady Nor, we are back,” Fei announced when they entered the kitchen.

“From saving the region?” A voice asked and both Desire and Fei turned to the direction.

“I thought you were gone for good” Fei asked as she couldn’t hide her shock of seeing the housemaid of Lady Fang.

“No, we are not. We are back to retrieve the master from the cheap slut standing right beside you. Since she’d spent a quality amount of time at the Harem, she’d learned enough skills to seduce a man”

Her words would not have affected Desire on a regular day, but with what had happened to her earlier, Desire burst into tears and ran out of the kitchen. She stopped at a corner and kept on crying. She wanted to escape, she was tired of everything happening around her.

“Desire, What happened?” Lady Nor who had ran after her asked.

“This happened” Angrily, Desire opened her hair, revealing the scar to lady nor.

“I’m so tired…” Before she could continue talking, the court lady appeared.

“The master has requested for his dinner and Desire is to bring it to his suite”

Desire almost cursed out at the mention of her name. Reluctantly, she walked towards his suite with the food at hand. Even before she could knock, Sylvester opened the door giving her entrance into the room.

“My lord, your dinner”
