Chapter 32

“Cassandra, I’m so happy that you’re fine. I thought something bad had happened to you when I didn’t see you again after that day” Desire cried out as the girl hugged her tight.

“Me too Desire, when I didn’t see you anymore around the mansion, I thought the master had killed you” Desire laughed at her assumption.

“I’m here now, little one. I’m so glad you’re fine. Tell me what happened after I left” Desire asked.

“The men were planning to let me keep staying in the dungeon but I didn’t know my brother was already here. He trained as a soldier and he’s currently serving under the master of the house”

“You didn’t tell me you have a brother”

“I have and I’ve told him so much about you so I can’t wait to tell you so much about him”

“I’ll be glad to hear all of his stories but that’ll be later, my girl. I need to get back to work and so do you” Desire patted her by the hair, smiling widely at her.

Her heart was glad that the young girl was safe and sound.

“I’ll go back to the garden and keep working but expect me back later in the day. I’ll tell you about everything that has been happening around here and I’ll love for you to do my hair like yours, it’s so beautiful” The girl kept on rambling on and on making Desire wonder if she had always loved to talk this much.

“Isn’t this our little chit chat birdie?” Fei asked as she walked into the kitchen.

Cassandra stopped talking, turned and glared at Fei before waving at Desire and walked out of the kitchen. Desire could only laugh and waved back.

Fei gritted her teeth after the little girl, ready to be released so she could beat her up.

“What happened between you girls?” Desire asked, wondering what could have caused their fight.

“I ate her food but I swear by the moon that I didn’t know the food belonged to her. Even though I tried apologizing, the girl won’t stop hating me” Fei explained and Desire started laughing.

Desire never knew Fei had this serious obsession about food even though she was barely fat.

“You slept well last night, Desire, I was wondering if you were so tired to sleep that soundly. I even had to cover you up with the blanket when you were cold”

Both Desire and Lady Nor who had been silent the whole time shared a look.

“Fei,” Lady Nor called her. “Why didn’t you sleep in your room last night?” She asked.

“I slept in my room, ma. I wouldn’t have said all what I did about Desire sleeping if I didn’t in the room” Fei answered confidently.

“If you had slept in your room, you would’ve realized that Desire didn’t sleep in hers and that she slept with me during the night”

Fei covered her face with her hands knowing she had been caught. If only she had covered her mouth shut.

“Start talking Fei before I let the court lady know that you haven’t been sleeping in your room for the past months” Lady Nor threatened.

“I swear by the moon, my lady that it was only three times that I didn’t sleep in my room and it was because he insisted that I should stay in his room” Fei confessed.

“Him? Does *Him* has a name?” Lady Nor asked “He said I should keep his identity hidden or else the master would get mad at us for having an affair under his nose”

“Then he must be so ugly and unattractive” Lady Nor said, confusing both ladies who were there in the kitchen with her.

“Ma?”

“Who doesn’t want to be seen with such a pretty lady like you? You should end it with him, he doesn’t deserve you”

Desire smiled at how well Lady Nor took the matter and Fei went on to hug her because she knew her secret was safe with her.

“Here Desire” Lady Nor stretched out a tray of some sweets and tea towards her.

“Master didn’t have any breakfast, you should take that to him. He’ll be in his study by now”

Desire collected the tray and thanked Lady Nor for her thoughtfulness.

She knocked twice as soon as she got to his study but got no response. She knocked again the third time before the door was angrily opened by her master.

“I told you I didn’t want to be disturbed, what do you want?” He yelled not looking at the person at the door.

“I was asked to bring this” He looked up immediately and heard that voice.

“Come in, dove. I didn’t mean to yell at you, I’m just exhausted” He quickly removed important documents from his desk, collected the tray from her and placed it on the desk.

He went on to close the door behind them before cupping desires face in his hand and kissed her thoroughly, making her yearn for more.

“I bought some sweets and tea, my lord.” He nodded and took a piece of the sweet, ate it and drank some tea as well.

“Take one more, my lord” Desire tried persuading him. “You haven’t eaten all day”

“Have you?”

She nodded. “I had a quick breakfast while I was in the kitchen, my lord”

“Why are you avoiding my eyes, Dove?” He suddenly asked after he became aware of her silly actions.

“Nothing, my lord. I’m not avoiding you” She replied.

“Look at me, Dove. You make me ask you to look at me all the time” As their eyes met, he locked their lips together, kissing her once more, tasting her and wishing he could have her right in his study.

“You look exhausted” Desire noticed this after he had released her lips.

“I’m fine, Dove. You should go back to work now so I’ll be able to concentrate on my work too” He kissed her forehead and released her and sat on his chair to continue working.

“I already talked to the healer, he said you should come this evening. He’s willing to teach you more” Sylvester gave her the good news making Desire all giddy and excited.

She ran to where he was sitting and kissed his forehead before running out of the study, excitedly.

As she skipped down the stairs happily, she wasn’t aware of the danger that lied in hiding for her. Before she could take the last step, a leg suddenly stretched out, making her fall flat on her face.

Before she could turn, the leg stepped with all the weight of the perpetrator on her neck as she cried out in pain.
