Chapter 105 Side Story 12

Chapter 105 Side Story 12
Devon.

"I'd like this one, please," she announces. The woman smiles and beckons Jessica to sit down, helping her to wear it in her hair. Once she's done decorating herself with the hair ornament, Jessica stands up to admire her reflection in the mirror, a permanent blush on her cheeks.

"Oh, wow..." Jessica trails off, touching the ornament in her hair. "I look like a true Italian," she mutters to herself before turning to look at me. "What do you think of it?" she asks, running her fingers through the new addition.

"It's fitting on you. You look absolutely gorgeous," I mutter. She smiles, taking out a couple of notes and attempting to pay for the service, but the older lady pushes the money back to Jessica, shaking her head even as a small smile adorns her face.

"Per te, mia bellissima. Prendila," the older woman says as she waves Jessica off, a graceful smile on her face. Jessica stares at her in surprise before turning to look at me.

"What did she say?" she whispers to me, holding my arms. I smile, glancing at the older woman.

"She wants you to have it. It's a gift from her," I translate, and Jessica's eyes widen.

"Ohh... Thank you!" Jessica replies. Then backpedals. "How do you say thank you in Italian?"

"Grazie," I answer, staring at her with a smile on my face.

"Grazie!" She repeats, more enthusiastically this time before bowing her head and walking away, the ornament in her hair glittering as it sways. I reach into my pockets, pulling out a couple of dollars and placing them on the woman's stall.

"Grazie, signora," I mutter before walking away, hurrying to meet Jessica, holding her hands as we walk out of the market. Excited with her gift, she won't stop touching her hair, and of course, we get a couple of stares from passersby. Jessica pays no heed to them as we continue on our way, making our way back to the hotel.

We pass by an opera house, and Jessica stops as well, gazing at the entrance, her eyes glinting once more.

"Oh, they are having a show. We should go in. I've never been to an opera performance before," she tells me, tugging at my arm as she looks up at me.

"Do you want to?" I ask, and she nods.

"Then, let's go!" I say, and with a swing of her arm, we walk into the building, buying tickets and finding our seats in the front row of the arena. We settle down and wait for the show to begin. The opera singer soon comes out, accompanied by her orchestra, and they start to serenade us with their beautiful music. Jessica listens with rapt attention, her eyes glued to the stage, eyes widened and filled with awe at the notes she's hitting, and for a while, I do too, until I find a much more interesting spectacle. My wife.

My gaze becomes trained on her, taking in her expression as my heart pounds with love. I reach for her hands, squeezing them softly. She turns to me, a smile on her beautiful face before turning back to the performance in front of her. Bringing her fingers to my lips, I press a kiss to them, letting it linger on my lips.

The show ends, and Jessica squeals, clapping her hands vigorously as the singer bows. "That was beautiful! Wow, I had goosebumps," she says as the singer leaves the stage, and the curtains fall.

"What do you think of it, Dev?" she asks, looking at me. I press another kiss to her hands.

"I think it was magical," I reply, squeezing her hands. She just stares at me, her face reddening.

"I don't think you watched the performance, Devon," she mutters, wearing a mock frown.

"I did. Through you," I answer. "You enjoyed it, so I did."

She gapes at me before letting out a breath. Standing to her feet, she beckons to me. "Come on, let's go home," she announces. I follow her, and together we exit the opera house. With the night already upon us, the temperature drops, and it becomes chilly. Jessica begins to rub her arms, and I remove her jacket, placing it on her shoulders.

She glances at me, surprised. "Thanks, but... What about you?"

"I'm fine. Besides, we'll soon be back at the hotel anyway. I don't want you to catch a cold before then," I say. She smiles, nodding gently as she looks ahead.

We arrive at the hotel and enter our room. She walks in first, and I lock the door behind us, leaning back on it as I watch her remove the jacket. Turning around, she sees me at the door and stops, folding her hands.

"Why are you still standing there?" she asks, and I shrug, gazing intently at her.

"Not sure, maybe because if I come any closer, I might be tempted to kiss the hell out of you, so I'm staying here," I answer.

She stares at me incredulously for a while before walking up to me, tilting her head as she unfolds her hands.

"Well, I don't think I mind," she replies, gazing up at me.

"You don't?" I repeat, walking closer to her. The air sizzles with tension, and the hair on my nape begins to stand on end as I gaze at her.

"No, not really," she mutters before moving closer until her lips are just inches away from mine, her gaze on mine. "Kiss me, Devon," she orders, her voice low.

A crooked smile hits my lips as I lower myself, pulling her closer as my lips meet hers for a searing kiss.
