Chapter 167

Chapter 167
Mia.

"Mum, I am hungry" I whine hugging her from behind and she chuckles. Rico's mother loves it when I address her as Mum. This also means she will give me a whole lot of food. I must be carrying two hungry men in my stomach.

"I know, honey. I can tell" She stretches her hand to grab a plate and I pull away to give her space. This woman can cook. The sight of the fried chicken makes my mouth water. So brown and delicious. The aroma doesn't lie.

"Here" She hands me a plate full of chicken and I don't waste any more seconds. I moan at the first bite, so spicy and crunchy. Goodness! It's like an orgasm in my mouth. "Go take a sit" She gently pushes me forward and I nod walking to the living room where Rico and his friends are sitting.

I silently sit on Rico's welcoming lap and once again, their whispering stops. From how the guys are staring at me, I can tell they are silently gossiping about my eating habits in their heads, and it makes me self-conscious.

" Did I do something wrong?" I stop eating and warily stare at them. Carl and Marcus quickly shake their heads in denial. Diego however, covers his mouth with the back of his hand, and from his eyes, I can tell he is stifling a laugh.

"Baby, he is laughing at me" I pleadingly whisper, sadly glancing at Rico. "He used to do that a lot when you were not here. Please, do something" I can feel my eyes watering. Rico silently curses and gently places me on the chair. Diego doesn't wait to see what happens and runs out of the room. When Rico furiously goes after him, I can't help but chuckle and resume eating.

He will eventually give up.

"So, what were you guys whispering about?" Carl shares a glance with Marcus and clears his throat.

"We were trying to come up with a plan concerning the matter at hand" Carl utters and I wave my hand in dismissal.

"Oh! don't bother, Fabio will fill you in about my new plan" I shrug, sighing deeply. I hope it works.

"Are you sure?" Dante carefully asks and I nod.

"My plan always works, Dante. You better find yourself a suit and a hot date, we have a big party coming. I am so excited" I beam and the boys worriedly glance at me. Being pregnant doesn't make me stupid, idiots. I am happy because if all goes well, that day will be my first walk to freedom.

"There will be a lot of free red wine. I can't wait" I chuckle at their confused faces and get up. I don't know why but today I feel so happy.

I walk out of the house to look for Neera but someone else catches my attention. Neera can wait a little.

"Sup guys? Long time no see, Theo" I happily greet the two men. One of them is my one-time friend and the other one, I have no clue.

"You are a hard person to find, Mia. We should catch up" Theo stands from his seat and lets me take it. The other guy carefully stares at me and I roll my eyes. I am just a harmless pregnant woman.

"How about tomorrow? You, Kay, and I should go out. All day" I beam and he shifts his gaze to the gloomy guy beside me.

Men!

"What do you think, babe?" Theo asks and my eyes widen in realisation. So he is the boyfriend!. Oh! My? What a lucky idiot! " Oh! I am sorry Mia, This is my boyfriend, Sam" Theo nervously introduces us, a red tint forming on his face.

"Oh! Hey Sam, It's nice to meet you" I stretch my hand forward and he shakes it with a low chuckle. I guess my happy mood is contagious.

"Me too, Mia. I will leave you two to it" Sam gets up and after kissing Theo's head, he walks away.

"Aww, that's cute" I tease the boy and he blushes. "Does that mean I don't stand a chance?" I fake a frown and he laughs sitting beside me.

"We just have to make sure he doesn't find out" Theo wraps his arm around my shoulders and we laugh.

"Where is Kay?" I haven't seen her around since we came from the hospital.

"She went to put the baby to sleep a while ago, she hasn't come back yet"

"Let's go see her" I stand up, taking Theo's hand, and lead the way back to the house.

Baby cries reach our ears when we take the stairs, and I share concerned glances with Theo. Opening the door to the guestroom, we find Kay sitting on the bed with a crying baby in her arms. What surprises me is the fact that Kay is crying too.

Isn't she supposed to be calming down the baby?

"Hey, sweetheart, what's wrong?" I whisper, sitting beside her and she sniffles lifting her head to look at me. Her eyes are red from crying and my mind goes straight to Carlos. Did he hurt her?

"He can't stop crying, Mia. I don't know what is wrong with him, and Carl doesn't help with the baby anymore" She sniffles, and my heart saddens. I can imagine myself in her position, with not only one wailing baby but two.

Is this how Rico will behave?

"Theo, drag Carlos's ass here" The boy's eyes widen but he quickly rushes out when I glare at him."It's okay dear, tomorrow is our day out. Carl will watch his baby all day. Don't worry because we will invite Mum too. No escaping for him, how about that?" I mumble, wrapping my arm around her and she chuckles wiping her tears.

"I want to murder that guy, Mia. He is always out working. Trust me, Carl doesn't even know how to change a diaper" I guess marriage is not as easy as I thought. It's not just about loving each other. It's sharing your life with another person, and then the kids appear. Too bad I won't get a chance to enjoy alone time with my husband. Poor planning.

Oh goodness, now my happy mood just deflated.

After a minute or so, the culprit enters the room and I don't miss the tired look in his eyes when he sees the crying baby. Rico follows him in and unlike Carl, he shows concern and rushes to take the baby from Kay. Twins with different personalities.

"Baby, why are you crying?" Carl kneels in front of his wife, completely ignoring his son.

"Why am I crying? It's your turn to look after your son, Carlos. I am going to take a long refreshing bath, dress sexy, and go clubbing all night. When I am done, I will visit my father for two days, and hopefully, when I am back, you will have learned what being a father means" Kay yells getting up and leaving a silent Carl on the floor.

When the bathroom door bangs closed, Carl sits beside me and palms his face. The baby is no longer crying and I wonder what magic Rico uses on these little ones.

"Why can't I be like him?" Carl whispers, watching as his brother lulls his son to sleep.

"Well, you have tonight and the next two days to learn" I chuckle when his head quickly snaps to me.

"She wasn't serious was she?" Carl stares at the closed bathroom door and back at me alarmed.

"She was, brother, because we are having girl's alone time. Good luck, Carl" I peck his cheek and leave the room with a satisfied grin on my lips. The look on his face is extremely funny.
