Kay promised after the first three months, I would start behaving normally but no. I just ate six fucking pancakes and I am about to cry about it. At this point, I think the only thing keeping me sane is work.
This is so embarrassing. More reason to believe the kid inside me is a girl. She is causing so much trouble already.
Neera arrives with my ringing phone and I thank heavens for saving me from the embarrassment. It's a call from my secretary. This reminds me I have a meeting at ten.
"Yes?" I put the phone on speaker and place it on the table.
"Boss, the representatives from Bentley will be here in an hour. I am calling to remind you that" her urgent voice comes through.
"Thank you" I look at my watch and hastily get up from Rico's arms. As a growing company, I have been receiving offers from different brands and since our client's demands are variable, I am left with no choice but to sign partnerships with different brands.
My initial plan was to keep 100% of my company, but I realized it would be tricky in the business world.
I need to find a house help and at least one chef around here. Now that Rico is back, I am sure the guys will eventually leave. I also know that Rico is not fond of many people around his house, the problem is, will he be okay if I hire help or should I go back home?
I dress in a white free lace top, a short black flared leather skirt and white knee-length boots. I curl the ends of my hair and leave it down.
The closet door opens and Rico walks inside. I am so grateful he is here but this Rico seems kind of aloof. I miss the warmth he once had. I know he doesn't remember anything but it hurts all the same. He silently scrutinizes my outfit and finally walks to me.
"How long will you be out?"
"I am not sure. I have been thinking, Rico" I face him and he silently nods for me to go ahead. My eyes land on his bare chest and back to his face. I don't know what prompted him to go for the skin tainting. " The guys will leave now that you are here, my guards will be taking turns and I won't have much crowd around anymore," I say this in regard to him hating too much crowd in his personal space.
"I don't know, are you okay with me staying here? I know you wanted me here before, but now, maybe I don't know, do you want me here?" I mutter staring at him with uncertainty.
"Of course, I want you here. How am I supposed to take care of you when we are apart?" Rico grabs my waist and pulls me to him. " Just because I don't remember doesn't mean I don't have feelings. I want you here, baby. Please, give me time to pull myself together, okay?" His thumb gently rubs my cheek and I deeply sigh.
His eyes are tender, and they give me hope.
"So, can I hire help?"
"Sure, baby, if it will make you happy then do it" I nod with a little smile. This makes me feel like we are about to start a real family. I slowly pull his head down and gently kiss him. Rico quickly responds and drapes both of his arms around me, caging me to him.
"Thank you. I love you" I mumble, and he smirks tucking away my hair. The day he will say the words back is the day I will know I have him back. Right now I can only hope.
"Please, forgive me" He whispers touching his lips on my forehead. "I feel so bad, the guilt eating me right now is immense, Mia. I feel less worthy of you. You deserve better, baby" Instead of saying anything, I bury my head in his chest and hold him tight. I am not going to cry because it will make him more guilty.
He probably saw the conflicted emotions in my eyes.
"We will be okay, I promise. I will make sure of that" He whispers kissing my head and I gently nod.
"I need to go" I lift my head only to find him staring back at me. His eyes are red and full of emotions. If I didn't know better, I would have thought Rico was about to cry.
