Chapter 155

Chapter 155
Rico.

I wake up early dawn, only to find Mia missing beside me. She slept a while ago. I quickly get up and pull up some clothes before checking the bathroom. I don't think with the security around here, someone will infiltrate our room and kidnap her.

No one is awake yet, so I search the corridors and around the house.

When I step into the kitchen, the sight I meet renders me speechless. The girl is sitting beside the fridge with an ice cream plate in her hands. To make it worse, she is fast asleep and her neck is bent in an uncomfortable position.

Isn't that stuff cold and the tiled floor too?

"Oh! you found her" A voice says behind me and I turn to see one of the guys from yesterday. He is familiar but I can't recall who he is. I furrow my brow deep in thought only to trigger a headache. Blinking severally, I turn to the sleeping girl and gently pick her up.

Fuck, she weighs nothing.

"Does she do this every day?" I ask the guy and he nods following me to the dining room.

"Yes, from the first day, and she wakes up crying for you"

"Hand me those" I point to the paper towels and he chuckles.

"This happened the very first day when you found out she was pregnant, deja vu" I gently wipe her face and fingers and she sighs leaning into me. She looks like a baby.

"She is a keeper. Take care of her, brother" the guy mumbles, fondly starting at Mia.

"Who are you?" Fuck, I sound dumb.

"You are fucked up, Rico. If I had known things would turn out this way, I shouldn't have let you step out of that door"

"Anyway, until you remember me, it's Marcus. You left her in my care, I'm gonna go resume work. Take care of Mia" Marcus exits the room after saying that and I sigh to myself. Why do I feel like everyone is angry because I don't remember shit?

After taking her back to bed, I change into gym clothes and head out to find the gym. After directions from the guards, I start my daily routine but my mind remains on her.

I need my memories ASAP.

After two hours of intense training, I walk back to the house to find quite a commotion. I don't think I like this crowd in my personal space. But then, I found out half of these people are her guards. I know there is someone after us, the same person Bella was working for so she needs to be protected.

I pave my way to the kitchen to find the girl crying. She is standing next to the stove and longingly staring at a stack of pancakes in front of her. Diego is the one making them and I don't understand why he is laughing at the crying Mia.

"What's wrong?" I turn her to me and wipe the tears which are relentlessly flowing from her eyes.

"He won't let me have them" She whispers pointing at the food. What kind of a person denies a pregnant woman food? I remember yesterday she mentioned she was craving pancakes.

"I was just joking with her, Rico. I am sorry"

"You think this is a joke? Do you see her as a joke?" I angrily pin the guy on the counter in a chokehold. I don't know what my relationship with him was but I can't stand seeing Mia cry. "Is this how you have been treating her?" I squeeze his throat harder until he starts gasping for air.

"Let him go, brother, don't do something you will regret" Carl pulls me away and I let the guy go. Fuck, I want everyone out of this house. I can't stand all these people around me.

"I was going to give them to her anyway, I have been doing that for three fucking months" Diego angrily mutters and leaves the kitchen. Is he insinuating something?

"Listen, brother, you need to cool down a bit, will you? Everyone here has been trying to make her comfortable. These guys are your brothers, Rico, they all have your best interests at heart" Carl softly mumbles, tightly holding my shoulders.

"She was crying, Carl" I point to the girl who is currently stuffing her face with the pancakes.

"It's called pregnancy hormones, Rico. You have a lot to learn. Why don't you start by making sure she doesn't choke on her food" He laughs and pushes me to her direction.

Mia has her both cheeks stuffed and there is syrup all over her mouth. When I reach her, she stares up at me and her eyes start to water again as if she wants to cry again.

I didn't do anything wrong, did I?

"Do you think I eat too much?" she struggles to let out the words and I silently stare at the food on her plate and back at her face. Tears are almost falling and if I hesitate any longer, I know what will happen. So, I quickly shake my head and wipe her stained mouth.

"No baby, you don't eat too much at all. They are only six pancakes" I bring her to my lap and and hold her waist.

"Six? I ate six pancakes?" She suddenly starts freaking out and I bite my tongue. "Oh! God, I am going to become fat" She whispers pushing the plate away.
