Chapter 59 CHAPTER 59

Chapter 59 CHAPTER 59

I didn't stop her from biting me, in fact, her desire to drink from me is what I depended on to avoid freezing like before.

Turns out I didn't need all that.

Her fangs pierced through my throat and a scream ripped from my throat but I already had my claws digging into her back.

She pulled back in shock as she realised what I was, pushing her spine deeper into my hand.

I turned her around through the bone of her existence but not before she slashed my arm.

The pain added to the one on my neck but I didn't stop.

My wolf's super strength filled me and I shook her fast like a leaf, pulling it out.

Her body disintegrated on the ground.

But the bone didn't.

I shrugged and went out with it but was shocked to see the girl was in the hallway, heading towards the door.

"Wait, I saw ... Hey!" She yelled and I bolted.

My wolf was antsy to shift and jump down the stairs but I knew where she would take us to.

That wasn't going to happen so I ran like hell.

I heard louder chaos behind me and then heard more at the beginning of the stairs so halfway, I hid the spine in my hand behind my back and exited the stairway, going to the elevator on the second floor.

The man inside gave me an odd look, expected, my hand was behind me and I probably looked like a maniac with my bleeding neck and arm.

We both made to press it together but he got to it first and thankfully put the ground floor.

"Are you alright?" He asked after a few pregnant seconds.

"Mind your business," I hissed, pulling out another syringe away from view just in case he didn't.

The door opened before he could decide.

The back door wouldn't work this time because of the blood on me, everyone in the kitchens would ask me a million questions, including, 'who are you' and 'when did you start working here?' so that left the front door.

I knew the cameras would catch me but that's a problem for the council to deal with so I changed the hand holding the spine and then broke out into a run.

"Hey! Stop! The Police!"

'Catch me if you can!' I say in my mind as I burst through the doors.

Kael immediately started the ignition the second he saw everyone racing for me and yelling in my direction.

He drove the car to me and I jumped in like I was in some action movie before he drove off.

They chased us until he finally got across to someone and they suddenly veered off in different directions.

Must be cool to have connections.

"What the fuck happened back there?" He asked the moment we drove into Nashville.

"Nothing. I did the job. Although, you didn't mention that this wouldn't turn to ashes," I said, showing him the spine.

"Holy shit!" He matched the brakes, nearly making us collide with a tree.

"You're such a terrible driver."

"Haha. Where's that from?!"

"Are we supposed to leave evidence of our existence for humans to take to labs and experiment on?”

"Well, I um.. let me get back on the road real quick."

"Hm. Good idea."

I finally dropped it on the floor of the car in the back seat where I was.

"You didn't plan your exit properly."

"Oh for fucks sake, is this how you are to everyone you train?"

"What are you talking about? You should always plan your exit, it's important!"

"How about, good job Sera, you were in and out quickly with barely a scratch?"

"Yeah, yeah, you proved your worth."

"And proved you wrong."

"I'm not saying that."

"I'm okay with knowing you acknowledge it. And I planned my exit properly but I couldn't go through the kitchen with a spine in my hand. It also wouldn't have happened if you'd told me this was possible."

"It usually isn't. Are these vampires doing something we don't know about? Evolving?"

"I wouldn't know, I barely know enough about werewolves and I was born one allegedly."

Sabrina snickered at that.

"It was a good call, thanks for not leaving it there. I'll get it to the Council before we go for our next job. Hopefully it doesn't turn to ash by then."

"We're going tomorrow so it won't."

"Tomorrow? Why? What's the rush?"

"I know this is like a vacation for you but it's torture to me. I need to eat normal food."

"I'm offended. You're saying I don't feed you well?"

"Hmph."

We passed that scent again and despite his warnings, I wound down the window a bit and baske in it.

Why on earth does he still make me feel this way, I have no idea.

Sabrina said a second chance mate is supposed to dissolve the other, which would have made it easier for us to trap him for the Council to deal with.

But now, I'm not so sure.

If he comes back to school to keep pretending he's some awesome math teacher, he's stupid.

There's something else in the air too that I can't put my finger on.

Ugh, I wish I could talk to Naomi right now. She usually helps me pick my brain apart and rearrange everything to make sense.

Now I feel mentally naked.

The next mission was tougher, I nearly died.

But I discovered that part of me Aunt Kelly said came from my mother.

Snapped his neck the second he fell into my trap.

And now, we're headed back home.

It feels like forever since I was taken from here but I know I'm not the same person who left here.

Things I never knew I could do, not only did I do it, but I'm not losing sleep over it.

Am I a terrible person now?

The door opened and Aunt Kelly gathered me in her arms, giving me a crushing hug.

"I'll be on my way Ma'am," Kael said, uncomfortable with all of this, "she's a strong one."

"It's in the family," Edgar joked.

I waved at him and then went in with everyone.

"How was it?" Uncle John asked me.

"Fine."

"Come on, Sera. You went on a grand quest, you have to have more than fine in there," Tori said, her niceness lasting till now.

"But it was. I trained, I finished the job and I'm back home. Isn't that a good thing?"

"You guys should leave her alone," Aunt Kelly came from the kitchen with a full tray, "she just got back and needs some rest." She handed me the tray, "You can eat in your room and don't bother coming out for a week if you need to. Just take your time to process everything."

"It's fine, I won't need to. Tomorrow is Monday, right?"

"You're resuming immediately?" Tori gasped.

"Yes, no point in staying at home."

They all watched me until I went up to my room, as I'd changed into a monster.

But I didn't care about all that, my mind was on my phone and if he left me any messages.

So I dropped the tray and rushed to my drawer and the phone was not there.
