Chapter 28 CHAPTER 28

Chapter 28 CHAPTER 28

“Your human?”

“Sorry, that sounded more serious in my head,” the voice chuckled again.

I was hung over Mr Valkori’s shoulder so I couldn't get a better view of whoever was playing this prank.

“It's not a prank. I'm literally a part of you so one is standing around you.”

“Oh God I'm going crazy,” I whisper, my fingers grabbing the man's shoulder.

Or vampire.

Gods above, what alternate universe did I fall into?

Shit, what if I'm still on that restaurant toilet on the ground while Kane takes what he wants from me and I've dissociated so hard all of this feels real?

“Oh shit, I'm just seeing what happened,” the voice continued and I was gently dropped at the back of a car seat, “I'm sorry you had to go through that and I wasn't there to help. I might not be strong enough because of all the drugs father pumped into you but he would have gotten a black eye at least.”

“Hurry up Marcus, this compulsion trick won't work if there are more people here,” Mr Valkori snapped at his friend who was coming with three big bags, one of them looking like it contained weapons.

I looked around and indeed, there was nobody here.

I'm officially insane

Do people usually know when they've gone bonkers or I'm just a special nut case?

“Okay, you need to chill. There's no way you didn't know – wait, what's that scent?”

My neck moved without my permission, shocking me harshly and I was staring at Mr Valkori who was holding the door of the car.

Locking me in.

As if hearing voices weren't enough, something appeared in my mind.

“He's so pretty and manly and he smells so good,” the… wolf… said, googly-eyed.

“Please help me,” I cried out, “something is happening to me!” I screamed, not even to strangers, to the man who was kidnapping.

“We'll leave soon, don't worry.”

“No, there's something in my head, it's got fangs!”

“Shit, Marcus! Her wolf is coming out, we need to move!”

He opened the car and got in next to me and to my shock, he pulled out a rope from the drawer in front of the car.

“Sorry about this,” he whispered as he began tying me up, “this is for your safety.”

“What is he doing?!” The wolf screeched.

I swear I wanted to scream but the way her lips moved and words came out had me entranced.

It was like those weird CGI movies only this one was happening in my head and I didn't even need to close my eyes to see it.

By the time I blinked, I was already tied and strapped to the seat.

“Why?” Was the only thing I could say, a tear straining down my face.

“So you don't waste my time and yours by running. I'm a vampire, my speed is unmatched by any wolf but the second she starts loading you with adrenaline, you'll think you can shift the world on its axis and you'll start pulling stunts that'll just delay us. Because I will catch you Sera, no matter how far you run. Understood?”

“Why not just wipe her mind?” The other guy asked as he turned the ignition.

“What's the point? Fabian will probably snap her neck once we get home. Besides, I just did a few weeks ago. I don't want her going crazy especially this close to her shift.”

“Still makes no sense why we're going with her. If you can't do it, I can. But no, you must always take the difficult route and make us give her the last trip of her life. It's cruel when you think about it. Just do it and get it over with.”

“Drive Marcus.”

I know they were speaking English but I was struggling to comprehend.

Even the wolf in my head was speechless.

The car backs into State Road, the other side that Aunt Kelly had driven taunting me as the town that I'd come to see as home disappeared behind me.

My heart jolted all of a sudden and the rope tightened more around me.

It felt magical, especially since the vampire that tied it was dozing lightly next to me.

My eyes met with Marcus in the mirror and he shook his head.

“Sorry kid, you won't feel any pain when it happens I promise. Fabian is less messy than my best friend over there.”

When.

Not if.

Another jolt rippled through my head and I took a chance in believing that all of this wasn't a dream.

I was actually being kidnapped by vampires and being taken to some airport to be taken to England.

Fucking hell, the thought was insane.

The craziest part was that I'm a werewolf.

That Aunt Kelly, Tori, Edgar, my father.

My father is a werewolf and didn't want me to know.

I shook my head as another burst of adrenaline soaked my bones and I took the chance.

Didn't think about the logistics of it, didn't care how possible it was, or the pain I would feel.

The window was closed but I hit my head on it and it shattered.

“Hey!”

The voice faded in the background as I bounced up and grated my skin on the sharp edges.

It cut the rope as well as my skin.

The speed of the car flung me into the air.

“What the hell are you doing??” The wolf in my head screamed alongside me.

Gravity caught me and pulled me down, fiercely.

My back landed on the ground right as the car screeched to a stop far from wherever I landed.

I didn't waste one second.

“No, don't run on the express, run in the middle of the forest, I'll hide our scent.”

The wolf was surprisingly helpful even though some part of her was trying to drag us back to the man who was going to kill us.

Thankfully she heard him.

He wants us dead.

He's dangerous.

Finito, no arguing with that.

I noticed when she did it, I didn't even realise I had a scent until it disappeared.

My feet kept going, faster than I've ever run in my life or seen anyone run

The forest disappeared steadily around me and surprisingly my vision got clearer even though it was dark everywhere.

Soon, I heard them, faster than the wind, feet barely touching the ground.

I increased my pace, shocking myself, in fact, Nashville appeared closer and in just a minute, I should be there.

But I'm a werewolf that didn't know I was one till five minutes ago and they're old vampires, royals for that matter.

The air shifted and suddenly the ground disappeared from under me. My feet were still running in the air from how fast it happened but nothing was moving, just me.

Caught.

“Told you I was going to catch you.”

“Are you going to wipe her memory now or do you want us to keep doing this the rest of the journey?” That asshole snapped.

I opened my lips to scream for help but hands clasped around my mouth.

“Fine. I'll wipe it and put her to sleep. I need to sleep and can't be running and chasing after you young lady. I apologise in advance.”

And that was the last thing I remembered.
