Chapter 35 Bryce's Anger

Chapter 35 Bryce's Anger
"Forget it. It's not going to happen. We're not having dinner together!" Rossie flatly refused Alex's request.

Alex hissed, "Have you forgotten how I helped you..."

Alex didn't finish his sentence. He waved his hand in front of his face and said, "Never mind, forget it!"

Rossie frowned, "What are you trying to say?"

"Nothing. I just misspoke. Never mind, maybe we won't have dinner tonight, but someday we will!" Alex winked and turned away, leaving Rossie still curious.

Alex had indeed saved Rossie when she was confronted by thugs a few years ago. At that time, Rossie was very frightened and fainted when Alex was about to face the thugs. Coincidentally, Bryce was there, and Alex asked him to take Rossie to the hospital while Alex faced the thugs and injured his arm.

"Bryce Johansen?" Alex's eyes widened when he saw his old acquaintance entering the restaurant.
Bryce was startled and shook Alex's hand just to be polite. However, unbeknownst to him, Rossie was still in the restaurant, not far from where they were standing. Rossie stared at them with a burning gaze.

She had to admit that Bryce was still as handsome as ever. His beautiful eyes were shining, but they were cold to her.

"Ah, why am I thinking about him again? All this time, I'm the only one who loved him, and he never loved me. Now I have to live for myself!" Rossie thought to herself.

Bryce turned and saw that Rossie was still there, so he approached her with narrowed eyes. He felt suspicious of Rossie.

Seeing Rossie here made Bryce feel a burning anger in his heart. He wasn't the type of person to get angry easily, but Alice always made him lose control! He stared intently into her eyes. "What are you doing here?"

"Working," Rossie replied calmly.

Bryce's memory flashed back to a few days ago when he met Miss Cavendish. It turned out that Rossie had not only met Mr. Dominic Cavendish that day, but was also working here.

"Are you crazy? We're still married, and not only are you dating Young Master Cavendish, but you're also working here? Have you forgotten that this is a competitor of the Johansen group?"

Bryce was so angry that his forehead was wrinkled and his teeth were chattering, "Oh, I know, you're sulking and doing this to get my attention, right? You know, your attitude is actually making me even more disgusted with you!"

Alex was shocked to see this argument.

"So that's what you think." Rossie stared at him coldly. "If that's the case, let's settle this today. We're getting divorced today!"

"Rossie!" Bryce shouted.

"What, you didn't bring everything you need? Tell Steven to bring it to you and meet you at the civil registry office!" Rossie smiled cynically. She didn't seem to have any feelings for Bryce at all.

Bryce immediately became angry. He grabbed Rossie's arm roughly. It was as if he were afraid he wouldn't be able to catch her if she ran away. Unfortunately, in the next second…

"Argh!" A sharp pain shot through his arm. Sweat began to pour down his forehead.

"Why are you pretending?" Bryce asked in a high-pitched voice.

Alex gasped and immediately pushed Bryce's hand away from Rossie roughly. Rossie was pale as a sheet. Her left arm hung limply at her side, and cold sweat poured down her forehead.

"Rossie, are you okay?" asked Alex. He looked worried.

Seeing Rossie's pale face and continuous grimace as she held her arm, he realized she was not pretending.

"Rossie, your arm seems to be sprained or maybe dislocated. I'll take you to the hospital!" Alex offered.

Rossie, who was in pain, just nodded. Sometimes Alex acted annoying, but she knew he was a good guy.

Bryce narrowed his eyes at him. Another man in front of him was hugging the Rossie he had known. He felt uncomfortable seeing this.

In the past, he had been disappointed and angry because of the forced marriage. The more Rossie was friendly to him, the more he hated her.

Now that they had separated, that friendly face had disappeared from his life. But why did he feel so much more alive and energetic when he treated her with anger and hatred?

"Bryce, I didn't get a job because I wanted to embarrass you or your family. I just wanted to find a way out after you inevitably left me."

"But you could have found another job? Or started a business with the compensation I gave you!" Bryce exclaimed, still angry.

Rossie just shook her head and chuckled.

"I don't know why you keep stopping me from moving on with my life. Didn't you turn around and move on with someone else after ending our marriage? Are you still attached to me? No, that's impossible. You don't have the heart for that. You just don't want to see me do better than you!"

Bryce felt like something was choking him. He couldn't speak. His silence broke Rossie's heart.
She smiled cynically. "Are you waiting to see me fall apart without you? That won't happen again. I've lived like that for the past three years, and I've had enough. Leaving you isn't a continuation of my tragic life. It's liberation. Leave me alone from now until Grandma's birthday. I don't want to see you again."

Rossie turned away. The pain in her arm was nothing compared to the pain in her heart. She was immune to it.

A sprained arm was no problem. She could fix it right in front of them. But she didn't want to. Rossie wanted to stay in this mess and endure as much pain as possible. Then, she could achieve liberation.
Suddenly, something warm pressed against her lower back. Rossie gasped. At that moment, she felt Alex's arm behind her, lifting her into his embrace! "Put me down!" Rossie tried to struggle.

But the harder she fought, the tighter Alex's grip became. He even pressed Rossie against his broad chest, making her stop. Rossie could feel his chest rising and falling. She could even smell his cologne.
For some reason, she felt frozen now. Alex, that annoying young man, could be so warm to her. "I'm taking you to the hospital. A sprained arm is no laughing matter." Alex's face was cold and expressionless, but his eyes were dark.

"Alex, but it's my hand that's hurt, not my leg! I can walk myself!" Rossie exclaimed.

Seeing this, Bryce's heart burned. He immediately approached Alex and tried to pull Rossie's hand.

"Rossie, get down! Since when did you become so spoiled?" shouted Bryce, who was still trying to pull Rossie, but all he got was a light kick that made his knees buckle and hit the floor.
