Chapter 26 Fake Rossie
Hosh! Hosh!
Steven was panting heavily as he reached the middle of the stairs leading to the 28th floor. Bryce, on the other hand, still looked calm as he climbed the stairs.
Besides being handsome, Bryce also took good care of his body. He exercised regularly, either swimming or weight lifting. No wonder he had no trouble climbing up and down the stairs; his movements were steady as he stepped.
"Mr. Bryce, is it still far? I can't take it anymore!" Steven complained as he caught his breath, occasionally holding his knees.
The Nexus Group office was indeed very grand, standing atop a 32-story building.
"You're only 30 years old, but you're already like an old man! That's what happens when you're too lazy to exercise!" Bryce teased with a cold snort.
Although his body size was average for a man, Steven was not a fan of sports. Rather than spending hours on physical activities at the gym, he preferred sleeping at home or playing PlayStation games.
"Come on! Hurry up, we can't lose Miss Cavendish again! This matter must be resolved immediately!" Bryce exclaimed as he led the way.
Steven snorted and retorted, "Huh! Miss Cavendish is really too good at entertaining her guests!"
Bryce heard him, but he didn't care. This time, he had only one goal: to meet Miss Cavendish and find a way out for his future wife's family.
Actually, there was no problem using the elevator to the 32nd floor, and the Cavendish family never felt excluded from their employees. None of them ever objected to being in the same elevator with guests or Nexus group employees.
However, with Bryce's arrival this time, a different treatment was necessary, of course. Rossie thought that playing with the Johansen group was a little fun, like a warm-up for revenge on them.
After arriving on the 30th floor, Steven sat down on the waiting chair provided there to catch his breath.
Hosh! Hosh!
"Finally, we're here."
Steven felt very thirsty now, but when he looked around, there were no drinks in the corridor at all. As a result, he could only swallow his own saliva and exhale deeply. Bryce, who was sitting next to him, just shook his head at Steven.
"Huh! What a young man with the stamina of an elderly person," Bryce muttered mockingly.
Soon after, a young man with brown hair, wearing a business suit, walked towards them. The young man was probably the same age as Bryce. He was Darren Wayne, Rossie's secretary.
"Mr. Bryce, it's nice to meet you. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Darren Wayne, Miss Roseanne Cavendish's secretary." The young man extended his hand to Bryce.
Bryce shook the young man's hand.
"Please come with me, Miss Cavendish has been waiting for you in her office for a long time!" Darren said politely, but there was a hint of firmness in his voice.
Steven was unhappy with the secretary's words, but he tried to refrain from confronting her. So he just whispered to Bryce.
"It seems like this secretary is deliberately snubbing us newcomers," Steven whispered to Bryce.
Bryce turned to Steven with a gloomy face and pouting lips. Then he smiled back at Darren and said politely, but sharply.
"Climbing five flights of stairs does take longer than taking the elevator. I hope we didn't offend Miss Cavendish." Bryce replied sarcastically, and Steven covered his mouth to hide his small laugh.
Darren did not respond to Bryce's remark. He chose to turn around and lead the way, but no one knew that he was actually smiling at what Bryce and his assistant were going through.
"Huh, what kind of attitude is that?" Steven finally couldn't control himself. He raised his hand to pat Darren on the shoulder.
But Bryce stopped him and shook his head. "Get a grip!"
Steven fell silent and walked alongside Bryce, who was now following Darren to the general manager's office. He had attended many important events. However, this was the first time he felt nervous before meeting Miss Cavendish in person.
After a knock, a woman's voice was heard from inside. "Come in."
Darren opened the door and motioned for Bryce and his assistant to enter the office.
At that moment, Bryce swallowed nervously. He composed himself before stepping into the office.
Behind the desk was a young woman dressed in luxurious pastel colors that made her look so elegant. Her long black hair fell over her shoulders, and the pearl clips in her hair showed her gentle side.
"Is she Miss Cavendish? Is this elegant and gentle-looking woman really the one who has been making my life difficult?" he thought.
In Bryce's mind, Miss Cavendish was an elegant and dominant woman. He even imagined that today Miss Cavendish would be dressed in all black with Latin makeup and red lipstick. But who would have thought that this woman would actually look so cute?
"She looks different from what I imagined. She actually looks like a spoiled girl. Could it be that what Aunt Miranda thought was true? That this spoiled girl likes me?" thought Bryce.
"Mr. Bryce, you must be tired. Please sit down!"
At that moment, Rossie gave orders to her doll, Becca, through an earpiece, and the fake Rossie repeated her words. Unfortunately, Becca looked stiff and nervous, not relaxed like Rossie, who was now in the next room enjoying Pringles potato chips.
Bryce and Steven sat down in the seats provided, and he looked around. What caught his attention was the classical piano in the corner of the room.
"Do you play the piano?" Bryce asked cautiously.
Rossie was silent for a moment, remembering the incident that had injured her hand and prevented her from playing the piano again.
Meanwhile, the fake Rossie tried to hide her confusion in answering. She thought that if she answered yes, Bryce might ask her to play the piano or talk about it.
"Just say you like it so much that you bought it for interior decoration!" Rossie said to the fake Rossie.
Becca repeated what Rossie said, smiling.
"Oh, is that so?" Bryce replied coldly.
"Yes, do you think it's strange that someone who can't play the piano would display a classical piano in their office? Or do you think I'm silly because a Cavendish can't play it?"
