Chapter 12 Lily's Anger
Bryce returned to his residence in a state of turmoil after being abruptly abandoned by his arrogant ex-wife.
The woman had grown so cold; she was no longer the wife who had once begged him not to divorce her. It seemed as if she had never felt anything for him during their three years of marriage and had only tolerated him for some unknown purpose.
"Your coffee, Mr. Bryce."
Steven entered and found Bryce looking serious. He couldn't help but ask, "Have you... Contacted Mrs. Rossie? Did you get her new number?"
Bryce held the bridge of his nose as anger flashed in his eyes. He was angry after failing to achieve what he had set out to do. At first, he was sure that his life would be better after Rossie left, but in fact, he was even more upset after finding out that Rossie had been having an affair with Dominic.
'How dare she do this to me?' Bryce thought to himself as he clenched his fists.
"Huh! I don't want to think about her now," he said, sipping his coffee. A moment later, his eyebrows furrowed. "What kind of coffee is this? Why does it taste so bad?"
"I followed the recipe Mrs. Rossie left behind. How could it taste any different?" Steven scratched his head in confusion.
"Recipe?"
"She gave me a notebook before she left, and it contains all your preferences, down to the smallest details—what to avoid, how to prepare your coffee... It even lists what dishes you like to have more of," Steven explained as he handed the notebook to Bryce.
The man took it and hesitated a little before opening it. But his curiosity was so great that he looked at Rossie's notes. Her neat handwriting immediately caught his attention, reflecting her formerly polite character.
"Add a little salt to the coffee to improve the taste. Bryce really likes it."
"Bryce ate two bowls of seafood soup that I made with fresh oysters this morning. I should make it more often. Make sure the oysters are still alive!
" Bryce really likes sweet foods and doesn't like sour flavors very much. Desserts made with chocolate and milk pie are his favorites. "
Bryce, Bryce, and Bryce again... His name was in almost every sentence.
He held his breath as he turned each page, as if afraid that a single breath would make the words fly away. His eyes darkened as he crumpled the pages.
"An extraordinary ability to try to understand someone. What is this if not his deception at work?"
He had mixed feelings as he read everything recorded in the notebook, but that didn't stop him from tossing it into the trash with a flick of his wrist.
"Hey! Don't throw that away! Mrs. Rossie worked hard for three years on that. Why would she write these things down if she didn't care about you? You have an essential place in her heart. "Steven rushed to grab it with a pained expression.
" Stop calling her Mrs. Rossie. She doesn't deserve to be called that!"
At that moment, loud noises came from outside the study. The sounds were coming from the right side of the hallway, where Rossie's room used to be.
"Go see what's going on." Bryce frowned wearily.
Steven left the office and returned, looking confused.
"It's Miss Jones, sir. She's... um..."
"What happened to Lily?"
"She's throwing out Mrs... I mean... your ex-wife's things."
Meanwhile, in Rossie's bedroom, Lily appeared emotional. She was furious and threw everything that belonged to Rossie that was there.
"You slut! You bitch! You're just a poor country girl. All this arrogance is just because some old woman spoiled you? What's so special about that stupid bracelet? How dare you look down on me?"
Rossie didn't take anything with her when she left after signing the divorce papers. That gave Lily plenty to play with. All the skin care products and accessories next to her bed were thrown carelessly on the floor like trash.
The room was a mess when Bryce arrived.
"What are you doing, Lily?" Bryce frowned.
Lily stopped what she was doing and turned to Bryce, breathing heavily.
"I hate that there are still traces of your life together! It's as if Rossie is still here!"
Lily cried and pretended to be in pain when she saw Bryce approaching. "If it weren't for him... would we have lost three years together? Anyone can see he stole my position... Why are you acting as if I've hurt him? Am I the other woman? "
" You're not the other woman, Lily. Don't think like that!" Bryce pleaded.
His gaze darkened as he bent down to pick up Ruby's turtle ornament. What he saw surprised him. The ornament winked and gave him an adorable look, which made him laugh until he unconsciously smiled.
That was when Lily started ransacking the closet, throwing Rossie's clothes away.
"What's this?" She opened a large box and found a neat women's suit made of high-quality fabric inside. "Huh... This must be a gift he prepared for Grandma. She has had a backup plan to ensure her comfortable life for a long time! "
Bryce's eyes widened as he picked up the box.
" Look how evil she is, Bryce! I thought she married you because she really loved you. I believed she would cherish you, but it turns out she was only here to climb the social ladder. She made you look like a fool!"
Her eyes were red as she grabbed the fruit knife on the coffee table. Without hesitation, she ran over to tear the clothes to shreds. Bryce quickly protected the box in his arms, but as a result, the knife cut his arm. Blood immediately soaked through his white shirt.
"Ah! Bryce! I—I'm sorry!" The knife Lily was holding fell to the floor as she covered her mouth in fear, her mind blank.
"Oh my God! What happened here?" Miranda, Bryce's mother, came in with a servant only to see Bryce injured, his blood staining the cream carpet beneath him.
"Bryce! Why... How did a knife get here?"
"Steven, quickly tell the driver to take Miss Jones home." Bryce sighed while enduring the pain.
"I don't want to go home now, Bryce... I want to stay here with you!" Lily hugged Bryce anxiously.
\\
"Oh, it's late. Why not let Lily stay over, Bryce? You're hurt, and she can take care of you." Miranda took the opportunity to give her opinion. She really wanted to bring Lily to Bryce's bed tonight for her own personal gain!
"No need. She has to go home." Bryce said firmly and would not accept any arguments.
"You and Lily will get married someday..."
"We'll be together every day after she marries me. She should stay at home before getting married. She can spend more time with her family. Rossie and I haven't finalized the divorce proceedings yet. It's still inappropriate for Lily to live with me here."
Miranda fell silent and said nothing.
