Chapter 26 Imani's Business

My uneasiness picked up again as I withdrew my eyes from him instantly.
I picked up another meal with my now-sweaty hand, still feeling his eyes on me.
Why is he staring at me like that?
Maybe he is watching my move.
God, he is creepy.
Like he could order my death at any moment.
Imani is closest to me.
All he has to do is give the orders and she will reach for my neck with her cutlery and slit it up.
Terror washed over me at my thoughts, making me clear my throat as I fed Jay Jay.
Everything is Jay Jay.
He is my shield. All I have to do is take good care of him and I will be safe.
Time went by and Jay Jay was almost done with his meal.
He let out a loud burp, making Imani and the unfamiliar woman chuckle.
"Silly, boy," Imani said, ruffling Jay Jay's hair.
He let out a cry, making me furrow my brows at him.
"What's wrong big guy?" Imani asked, still caressing his hair.
Jay Jay cried crankily.
He looks uncomfortable.
I stood on my feet and reached to pick him up but.....
"Come here, sweetie," Imani said, picking him up.
Jay Jay's crankiness got worse and his cry increased as he moved to get away from her hold.
Everyone on the table stared at them as Jay Jay continued crying.
"What is wrong?" Imani asked, still holding him.
I have no idea what to do.
Take him from her?
Or wait till she hands him over.
"He clearly doesn't want to be in your arms." The unfamiliar woman said, making Imani throw her a glare.
"What did I say about keeping your stupid opinions to....."
"Give him to his nanny," the boss chipped in, attracting our attention.
He is sipping his drink.
"Kai," Imani called, moving her glare to the unfamiliar woman. "This escort of yours has to....."
"Give 'em to his freaking nanny!" The boss yelled, making me flinch.
He is glaring at Imani.
"Here," Imani said, handing over Jay Jay to me.
Suppressing my uneasiness, I took Jay Jay from her.
He stopped crying as I caressed his back.
Awkwardness circled the table.
"Please, excuse me," I said, walking away and heading towards the kitchen before anyone could say anything.
I begged internally not to be called back till I got to the kitchen.
I let out a breath of relief as I moved towards the island. I walked towards the counter and picked up a glass.
I filled it with water and walked towards the island. I placed the glass on the island before placing Jay Jay on the island as well and sat on the barstool.
I picked up the glass and fed Jay Jay some water.
I took some amount as well as I thought about my meal.
I dropped my shoulders, letting out a sigh.
Jay Jay's eyes were on me.
"I left my meal out there," I said.
He smiled.
I scoffed. "How is that funny?"
He raised his hands, chuckling.
I smiled, feeling my belly rumbling.
"I can't play now. I am hungry, Jay Jay." I moved my face to him and he gripped it.
I placed my nose on his shaking hit playfully, chuckling as well.
"Mia," a familiar female interrupted.
It was Coco.
"Coco," I called, smiling as she approached me with a plate of meal and a glass of milk in her hands.
I don't know why but I feel happy to see her.
"Hey. I brought you your meal," she said, walking towards me.
"Oh,"
She placed the meal in front of me and my taste buds wanted nothing but to dive in.
"Thank you," I said, smiling as I held Jay Jay's hand.
She smiled too.
I rested my eyes on my meal as I picked up my fork.
"The boss sent me to give it to you," she said, making me look at her as she caressed Jay Jay's cheek.
"Hey, Lil Kai," she sang happily, making him smile.
I smiled as well as I picked up a portion of my meal and ate.
The delicious taste massaged my taste buds.
"Can I hold him?" Coco asked.
"Sure," I said, eating more of my meal. "Let's hope he doesn't cry,"
Coco picked him up and guess what, he didn't cry.
That is good.
I need to eat comfortably.
"He is so adorable," Coco said, making me look at her.
She is caressing his back.
"He is my best friend," I said.
"Aw really?"
"Yeah," I said, eating another portion of my meal.
"That's sweet. Can you take an extra best friend, Lil Kai?" She asked, raising him.
"Huh, big guy?" She asked, chuckling.
"I guess he will," I said, smiling.
She chuckled.
"Um....I didn't get the chance to um...to say thank you for the clothes you gave me." I said.
She looked up from Jay Jay.
"Thank you so much. They are a perfect fit and I love them." I said.
She chuckled. "You shouldn't be thanking me. All I did was go to the mall and pick up your size which is almost like mine but I am bigger so....yeah."
I looked at my meal, wondering how she got the clothes.
I thought they were.....
"Thank the boss when you have the opportunity to. He funded them." She said, making me look at her.
She is playing with Jay Jay's tiny hands and saying something playful to him.
The boss bought me those clothes.
I thought they were for Coco and she chose to give them to me because she wears uniforms mostly.
Why didn't he give me uniforms instead since I work for him as well?
Why the dresses?
"Lil Kai is really a bundle of joy," Coco spoke up, taking my attention again.
"When he went missing, the mansion was in turmoil," she said, looking at Jay Jay as she went on.
"His dad was furious and his mom...." She paused, looking at a random place.
I furrowed my brows. "His mom?"
She looked at me.
"What happened to his mom?" I asked. "I haven't seen or heard about her until now. No one talks about her. Does she live here too?"
She moved her eyes nervously.
My heart picked up as the thought of the worst came to my mind.
"Did anything happen to her?"
"She uh....she became..... "
"What is your business with his mother, you white little abductor?" Imani's familiar evil voice interrupted, making Coco stand on her feet quickly.
I gulped as Imani approached the island.
Her wicked eyes rested on me as she approached slowly with her hands behind her back.
She is as scary as the boss.
But she is the most heartless.
I lowered my gaze, feeling uneasy the more.
"You," she called.
I looked at her.
She is looking at Coco.
"Get out," she ordered.
"Yes, ma'am," Coco bowed slightly, handing Jay Jay to me before running out of the kitchen.
I am left alone with Imani and her unknown evil agenda.
I have Jay Jay here with me too.
It is less scary.
She placed her two hands on the island and opposite me, making my heart pound continuously.
God, what is she going to do to me?
"I see you are getting comfortable being a nanny to that little....." She paused, looking at Jay Jay.
I held Jay Jay tightly as I flicked my eyes to her.
She moved her eyes to me.
My heart continued pounding.
She smiled weirdly at me.
"Well, congratulations. You are one clean pathetic white bitch." she said.
I furrowed my brows slightly.
"I couldn't find anything on you but trust me when I say, Soon. Very soon your head will no longer be on your neck."
My heart dropped.
She smirked, tilting her head to the side like a demon.
Next, she frowned instantly.
God, what is she?
"When I am done with you, you will regret not minding your fucking business from the onset."
I furrowed my brows again.
