Chapter 15 Dude’s Broke
BIG KAI
Looking up from my coffee, I saw the white girl with my son in her hands, descending the stairs and following the white maid behind.
I put down my cup as I stared at them. The white girl is wearing her clothes from yesterday and my kid is wearing a blue onesie that covers his entire body but his face.
And as usual, he is playing with the girl's hair while saying whatever.
"Good morning, sir. Good morning, everyone." The white maid greeted them the minute they got to the table.
I rested my eyes on the white girl who seemed to be hiding behind the maid.
Bet momma didn't raise her right. She can't greet like her fellow white girl just did, huh?
"Lil Kai's nanny said Lil Kai would prefer to have cereals for breakfast," the maid said.
I rested my eyes on the white girl again as the maid went on.
"And she said she wants to make it herself," the maid said.
Imani scoffed. "What is she now, a cook?"
"Can't she speak?" I asked, making everyone look at me.
The maid moved aside a bit, giving me a full view of the white girl. She held onto Lil Kai like she did yesterday as she struggled to speak while staring at the floor.
I picked up my cup of coffee and sipped without taking my eyes off her.
Her body language speaks loudly of terror and nervousness.
"Where did they pick this dumb bitch from?" Imani asked, making the white girl cringe a bit.
"Speak up, dummy!" Imani yelled.
She cringed again. "He.....he likes the way I make his...his cereals," she stuttered without looking at anyone.
Imani scoffed. "He likes? Is he old enough to decide what he likes?"
I sipped my coffee again.
"See what I told you, Kai," Imani said, looking my way.
I kept staring at the white girl.
"People like her are up to no good. She just wants to make the poison and give it to Jamal."
The white girl's face twitched the minute Imani said that. She shook her head as well while holding onto Lil Kai tightly.
She finna suffocate my kid with all them clinging.
"Take Jamal from her and kill her already," Imani ordered.
Terror struck the white girl as she shook her head and looked my way for the first time.
But momentarily.
She lowered her gaze instantly.
"I...I am not going to poison him."
"Shut up!" Imani shunned, making her flinch.
"Bring my son to me," I ordered, making everyone look at me.
My eyes were on the white girl. She stood still, staring at the floor and holding Lil Kai tightly.
The maid reached for the white girl's arm, making the white girl look at the maid. The maid urged her to go forward.
She walked around the table and approached me nervously.
She got to where I was and I rested my eyes on my son.
Lil nigga still busy playin' with her hair.
I reached for his hair and caressed his curls, making him look my way.
I stared at him blankly as I rubbed my hand down his hair before withdrawing from him.
I moved my eyes to the white girl.
She is staring at the floor.
I never knew the floor had interesting features.
I moved my gaze to the maid, making her stand straight.
"Take her to the kitchen,"
"Yes, sir."
"Watch her every move. Whatever she makes for him, she must taste it first."
The maid bowed. "Yes, sir."
I picked up my coffee and took a sip as the white girl walked away with the maid.
"This is so not good, Kai," Imani said.
I put down the mug and picked up my phone.
"I just hope you know what you are doing," she said as I scrolled through my phone.
"I think he does," Tyrell spoke up for the first time.
"Shut up, Tyrell." Imani snapped, making me look at her.
"That white girl seems off to me. I don't fucking trust the bitch and y'all know my guts are always right."
Tyrell scoffed, taking a portion of his meal into his mouth.
"It is the fucking truth," Imani said as I lowered my eyes to my phone.
"Yeah. The fucking truth. The same way your guts told you to bring in Isadora but the same guts didn't tell you the bitch's a crackhead." Tyrell said.
Imani scoffed. "What the fuck are you..."
"That's enough you two," I chipped in without looking at them.
"Motherfucker," Imani muttered, making me look at her.
She is scowling at Tyrell.
Tyrell scoffed inaudibly.
"What's the update for the day, Tyrell?" I asked, returning my gaze to my phone.
"Nothing much. All deals for the week were settled yesterday. We just need to start a new file for a new week" He said.
I picked up my mug and took a sip.
"And oh, Malik called."
I froze momentarily.
"Malik?" Imani asked.
"Yeah. He finna visit us soon." Tyrell said, making me look at him.
"Under whose permission?" I asked.
He looked at me and shrugged. "He wants to make it a surprise."
Imani scoffed. "Just get to the fucking point, Tyrell."
"What point is that?"
"Dude's is broke as fuck. He just wants to fucking beg as always." Imani scoffed.
"Seriously, Imani. That sum fucking shit to say."
"Ain't I right?" Imani asked.
"No one comes to my house without my permission," I said, making them look at me.
"Especially sum motherfucker who always tryna molest my fucking maids," I added, making Tyrell purse his lips.
"You better tell him that,"
Tyrell nodded. "Yes, boss."
I moved my eyes to Caleb. He is wiping his lips with the napkin.
"Time to go, Caleb," I said.
"Yes, sir." He said and pushed back his seat as he got on his feet and walked towards him.
He picked up my laptop from the table.
"But first, get my kid and his nanny ready. We leave in ten minutes."
" Yes, sir," Caleb said and walked away.
"What?" Imani asked.
"What is what, Imani?" I asked, typing on my phone.
"You are taking Jamal and his nanny with you?"
"You think I finna leave my kid at home like I did before and risk him gettin' kidnapped again?"
She stared at me.
"That ain't gonna happen. I'mma take my kid with me wherever I go until I find his real abductor," I said, returning my gaze to my phone.
"I understand, Kai. But taking him with you will be very....."
I pushed my seat back a bit and got on my feet, shutting her up as I walked around the table.
"See y'all later," I said, heading for the stairs.
"Later, boss," I heard Tyrell say as I walked up the stairs. I walked along the hallway and headed to my room.
I walked into my spacious room with black and gray aesthetics.
I walked towards my king-sized bed and picked up my golden Rolex wristwatch on the nightstand.
I fixed it on and then my knuckle rings before walking towards my walk-in closet.
I walked towards the part where I keep my jacket and took out my ash colored jacket and headed out.
Getting to my room, I walked towards the huge mirror close to the windows.
A slight knock came on my door and it opened right after as I stared at myself in the mirror.
"Kai, can we talk?" Imani asked, approaching me.
My white shirt with its first three buttons left open is always a sight, hugging my muscular body and my well-pressed ash-colored trousers hug my slightly thick thighs.
"You have to get rid of that white girl right away. Jamal is not safe with her."
I didn't say a word but continued staring at myself in the mirror as I put on my jacket.
"You know when I talk about something it always turns out bad just as I predicted it." She said, as I fixed my jacket properly.
"I can't even believe you are taking her and Jamal with you to....where are you even going to?"
I didn't respond.
"I know it is not the company."
"I am going to my club," I said, picking up my Clive Christian perfume
She scoffed. "Your club? Which of them?"
I didn't respond but applied the perfume on my neck, wrist, and body.
"You can't take a baby to a club. Are you even thinking?"
I looked at her.
Her face twitched. "Um...that....that came out wrong."
I averted my eyes from her and placed my perfume where I picked it up. I picked up my dark sunglasses and returned my gaze to the mirror.
"I know you are trying to protect your son but don't you think taking him out with you will put him in the worst danger?"
"Leaving him here will," I said, staring at my hair in the mirror.
"But you...."
"That's enough, Imani." I retorted, shutting her up as I looked at her.
"This finna be the last time you challenge my fucking decision."
"Kai, that is not....."
"Last fucking time, Imani!" I blurted.
She froze.
"Get your ass to the damn company. All them employees need your fucking energy there," I said, walking past her as I put on my glasses and headed out of my room.
I flexed my muscles, fixing my jacket as I walked along the hallway. Not long later, I walked out of my mansion.
I saw one of my guards standing close to my white Rolls-Royce Phantom. I descended the spotless stairs and he opened the backseat door the minute I got closer.
I got into the car and he closed the door.
I took out my phone, scrolling through some text messages but a movement at the corner of my eye caught my attention towards the mansion entrance.
