Chapter 127 Bang!
Chapter 127 Bang!
BIG KAI
"In the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit."
"Amen!"
Rain droplets hit her beautiful portrait resting on the side of her white coffin.
Her smiling face stared at me, full of life, beautiful, and stubborn.
Bossy but loving.
The fact that my last words to her were harsh and dismissive feels like daggers piercing into my soul.
She's gone.
A shit I can't fucking believe.
No goodbyes.
No kisses.
No fucking shit.
How could this happen?
Fucking come back from Africa and decide to die in my fucking hands? Really, mama?
You fucking serious right now?
Forget I complained about spending all your time in Africa without checking up on me.
At least you still breathing.
I still have a mother.
You shouldn't have come back if this shit was planned.
What am I supposed to do?
Why the fuck would you leave me?!
Clenching my knuckles, I raised my chin, sensing the black umbrella held up above me by Caleb.
There are a lot of black umbrellas here. A lot of black attire.
I never planned this as the next gathering I would be in.
A fucking funeral.
This gathering is supposed to be at my house, my fucking wedding.
With you, mama, dressed in the most expensive dress in the world, smiling at your son while he joins his life with the fucking love of his life.
But you just had to do this too.
Leave your own son.
Dad did it. He left without looking back.
We both hated it.
We were both unhappy.
But look at you.
Who is the hypocrite now, mama?
You.
You, mama!
I felt a soft touch on my hand.
I looked at the person.
Shawty's teary eyes were staring at mine with a lot of worry and concern.
Mama hated you so much that she decided the fucking cowardly way out just so she wouldn't see us get married.
Can you believe that shit, shawty? I didn't know she had such diabolical hatred in her, baby.
How could she do this to her own child?
She reached for my cheek, caressing it.
I lowered my gaze at her hand that was holding mine. I held hers, taking in the comfort that she brings. I moved my eyes back to her face.
It was replaced with Imani's.
I froze.
She shook her head, staring at me with tears in her eyes.
"Mama, loved you so much, Kai. I can't believe this is happening," she said, wiping her face with her white napkin.
I released her hand and moved my eyes to Mama's coffin.
"Caleb," I called.
"Yes, boss?"
"The fucking flowers," I ordered without looking away from the coffin.
He handed them to me.
I walked towards the coffin with Caleb following me, ignoring the sermon going on.
Her picture has never made my soul numb this much.
She took the picture in Africa. Caleb found it in her room.
I guess it is her recent picture. She planned to stay for a long time which is why she had a lot of luggage and all.
But she was wallowing in her typical character. Supporting Imani and reminding how much we owe her and her father.
All she wanted was to reciprocate the good she got.
She didn't ask how I was doing all this time.
She didn't spend quality time with me. All she did was fight me about Imani whenever we talk.
The fuck is that shit, mama?
I am your son, damn it.
Because of all the damn fights, I didn't get to bond with you as mother and child should.
I placed the flowers on her coffin, trying my best to suppress my anger.
This hurts.
Terribly.
I am pissed, mama.
So fucking piss.
Wherever you are right now, I bet you can tell how fucking pissed I am with you.
Now, I'm gonna live the rest of fucking life in regrets. Regret dismissing you like that on the phone.
Not ignoring your tantrums and spending quality time with you.
Not bothering to pay you a visit in Africa.
Rest in peace.
That's all I can say.
I put on my glasses, staring at her picture one last time as the remaining piece of my soul goes down the fucking drain.
Farewell, mama.
I walked away, earning the droplets of the rain on my body but I was instantly covered with the damn umbrella.
"Kai," I heard Imani's voice.
I didn't look back but headed towards my car.
NIGHT HOURS.....
THE LIVING ROOM......
I took off my coat and Caleb took it from me.
I sat on my couch, letting out a sigh as I stared at nowhere in particular.
"Dinner is ready, sir," Caleb said.
"Throw them in the damn trash."
"Sir, you...."
I threw him a glare.
His face twitched.
"Yes, sir," he said, walking away.
I relaxed my head on my seat, welcoming countless memories in my head.
Those peaceful moments with my parents present. Both of them.
The home was beautiful.
Dad had plans for me.
To be a fucking surgeon and shit.
He died, so did his dream for me.
Mama....
I heaved a sigh, rubbing my eyes with my fingers.
A tiny voice caught my attention towards the staircase.
Shawty and my kid are descending the stairs.
I felt my soul coming back slowly.
My heart is healing sluggishly.
She approached me like a light in a tunnel filled with misery and pain.
Loss.
Death.
Loss.
"Shawty...."
My kid extended his hands to me, taking my attention.
I held him, placing him on my lap. I reached his hand to my face. I held it, pulling it down gently.
I moved my eyes to Shawty.
She was replaced by Coco.
I furrowed my brows.
"Sir....."
"Where is she?" I asked.
She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out.
"Where is Mia?"
"I....I don't know, sir. She is not back yet."
I lost my soul again.
"Vicky too," she added.
"Sir," Caleb called, taking my attention.
"You need to go to bed. You need rest."
"Why haven't I seen Mia since yesterday?"
He exchanged a look with Coco.
"Caleb."
He looked at me.
"Where the fuck is she?"
"Sir, she....."
"Kai!" Imani's voice sent adrenaline to my fucking brain.
The door closed as her heels approached the living room.
I clenched my knuckles as she came into sight with her maid standing behind her.
Both were still dressed in funeral attire just like the rest of us.
"Caleb, take the kid away. I need to speak to my brother about something important." She ordered, moving the white envelope in her hands.
"Is this a fucking joke, Imani?" I asked calmly.
She shook her head.
"You should take your things and leave in one piece. I'm calm right now cause I don't wanna defile mama's memory this early. But that can change if you keep pushing your fucking luck."
"This is something you must know, Kai. In a few minutes, you will get to know that I have always, and always been looking out for your good. I still am." she said.
"Caleb," I said without looking away from her.
Caleb moved towards me and took Lil Kai.
"The fuck is you on about?" I asked.
She raised the envelope proudly.
"In here is mama's autopsy," she said.
I looked at the envelope and then at her.
She moved towards me and handed it to me.
I took it from her and opened it.
"Mama was stabbed three fucking times by someone you know."
I froze, looking at Imani.
She nodded.
I read the papers.
"What do you mean?" Caleb asked.
"What I said, Caleb. Our mother was murdered in cold blood and you will be amazed when you find out who did it."
I looked at Imani as I gripped the paper.
Adrenaline increased to its peak.
"The person who killed her is in this room right now."
I froze.
"What?" Caleb blurted, making me look at him.
His eyes moved to me.
He has surprise and disbelief dancing on his face.
I moved my eyes to Coco.
Surprised too.
I moved my eyes to Imani.
She raised her chin, certain about the motherfucker who killed my mother.
Oh, I'm so gonna drag out his or her intestines and glue them to his or her back.
I'm gonna take all the fucking sense organs on their face and glue them to the back of their heads.
They finna see backwards.
I moved my eyes to Naomi.
She has a similar expression to Imani on her face.
I moved my eyes to Naomi.
"Say what you got to say, Imani."
She smirked, moving her hand to Naomi.
Naomi took out a phone from the bag in her hand and placed it in Imani's palm.
Imani holds up the phone.
"In here is the footage of how Mama was stabbed."
Anger washed me dry as the hunger to spill blood has never felt this needy.
"Give it to me," I ordered.
"One moment," Imani said, taking out a gun from her coat pocket.
She turned the gun towards Naomi instantly.
Naomi's face twitched. "Ma'am....."
BANG! BANG!! BANG!!!
