Chapter 126 Funeral
Chapter 126 Funeral
MIA
I didn't respond.
He raised his brows.
I held Vicky closer.
"We will spend the night. Tomorrow, we will leave." I said.
He scoffed. "Seriously? You don't wanna call him?"
I didn't respond.
He scoffed, getting on his feet.
"Fine. Spend the night. It is late anyway. Tomorrow will be better to host my favorite enemy." He said, putting his hands in his pockets.
Lowering my gaze, I placed my hand on Vicky's shoulder as he attempted to walk away.
"The maids will get you guys dinner. See you at breakfast tomorrow." He said.
I looked at him.
"Have a good night." He said, heading towards the door.
"Where is my ring?"
He stopped in his tracks and turned his head to me.
"Excuse me?"
"I had a diamond ring on. It is either you or one of your men who took it after you had them knock me out without mercy."
He scoffed.
"I want it back," I said, holding Vicky tighter.
"Girl, I have no use for any fucking diamond ring. I'm as rich as your man. If not richer."
I stared at him.
"Okay, we are equally rich. That nigga can't lose. It is almost like he is allergic to losing. Well, that's mutual. Anyway, about your damn ring. I will see what I can do. Good night." He said, walking out of the room.
I let out a breath of relief.
"Mia?"
"Yes, Vicky?"
"When will Jay Jay join us as you said? I miss him already."
My heart clenched.
I caressed her cheek. "Don't worry. We will um....we will see him tomorrow."
"Promise?"
I stared at her as guilt filled me. I nodded slightly.
"I promise."
"Okay." She said, wrapping me in a hug.
I held her, feeling tears approaching my eyes.
I need to think of something before tomorrow comes.
What am I going to do?
HOURS LATER........
I rubbed my arms as I stared at the beautiful stars through the windows, getting lost in painful thoughts and painful memories.
Past four in the morning and I haven't closed my eyes.
I can't sleep.
I wasn't expecting to.
It is my first night away from Big Kai.
God, he must be aware of his mom right now.
I can't stop thinking about how he must be feeling. I wish I could hold him right now.
I wish I could show him what happened.
His sister is a devil sent from hell.
Just to separate us she had to kill his mother.
Who does that?
How obsessed is she with him?
What kind of 'he doesn't want you' doesn't she understand?
I huffed, wiping my tears as I moved to the bed.
Vicky is sound asleep and letting out tiny snores.
She is the only thing keeping me sane. I am ready to endure this with her around me, keeping me strong.
I sat on the bed as tears flowed.
Ready to endure this?
Really, Mia?
For how long?
How long, Mia?
It hurts being far from him. I don't know how he's doing.
He must be devastated. She was his only parent.
How could someone he calls sister do this to him?
It is so unfair.
I covered my face with my palms as I sobbed silently.
The feeling is terrible. Losing a parent is really terrible. I cried my eyes out when my dad died.
I did the same when it was my mom. But it wasn't worth it.
No one deserves to lose their parent. It is unfair.
I am so sorry, Big Kai. I couldn't watch my back as I should have.
She said it to my face. Even though she didn't make it clear, she was telling me she would ruin me.
I took it as a bluff.
Now look at me.
This is all my fault.
I sniffled, wiping my face with my backhand.
I blew out air.
I shook my head, sobbing uncontrollably.
I covered my mouth, got on my feet, and walked towards the windows.
I folded my arms as I rested my eyes on the stars.
God, please help me.
Please help me.
Comfort Big Kai for me.
He needs to find out the truth.
Please.
NEXT DAY......
"The dining room is this way." A maid dressed in her uniform said, gesturing at a room.
I nodded, taking Vicky in the direction.
It is eight in the morning, Vicky and I did our morning hygiene an hour ago but we are still in our clothes. They didn't bring my luggage along.
I remember leaving it at the store and going ahead to chase after the man who took Vicky.
I guess they didn't see it.
Marcel invited us for breakfast. I am not hungry but Vicky has to eat.
I still don't feel comfortable in this house. I need to leave.
Marcel is Big Kai's enemy.
I shouldn't be here.
It feels like betrayal, staying here with him when I know who he is to Big Kai.
After breakfast, we are leaving. I still have the money in my account and if they give me back my ring I will.....
I can't......
I can't sell that ring. No I can't.
I got to the door and I found it open, revealing the dining area but it was not empty.
Marcel is seated in his head seat at the end of the table.
He is not alone.
There are three beautiful women seated to his left. There is also a boy who looks Vicky's age and two babies seated in their chairs.
Are they like..... family?
I held Vicky's hand, pouring my discomfort into my hold as their eyes moved to us.
"Morning," Marcel said, chewing something. " Come on in."
I walked into the room and moved towards the empty side which is Marcel's right-hand side.
I don't know why all the women and their kids sat on the left where there are empty seats here.
I took out a seat for Vicky and she sat on it.
I took out mine which is the second seat after the first seats close to Marcel.
"Glad you could join us," Marcel said, smiling.
I felt eyes on me, making me look at them.
The women are staring at me.
Maliciously.
The first one is seated next to the kid who seems to be Vicky's age. The second has a few-month-old baby next to her and the third one does as well.
They are both feeding their babies but throwing unpleasant glances at me.
I lowered my gaze, wondering who they were.
And why are they looking at me like I came to steal from them or something?
"Ladies," Marcel spoke up, making me look at him.
He sipped his wine, put down the glass, and cleared his throat.
"This is um...." he furrowed his brows and looked at me.
"What's your name, Sweetie?"
A scoff from the women followed, making me look at them.
They are busy with their meal but throwing glances.
"Mia," I said, looking at Marcel.
"This is Mia, my favorite enemy's girl," he said, making them look at me.
This time with less unpleasantness.
"Your enemy's girl?" The first woman asked.
"That's what I said," Marcel said.
"So she isn't an addition?" The third one asked.
Addition?
"What about the kid?" The second one asked.
Marcel scoffed, sipping his drink again.
"You all must have heard about Big Kai Kincaid. My fucking rival."
They nodded.
"That's his girl." He gestured. "And that's her little sister," he added.
The first woman hummed.
"That's good to know." The third one said.
"Yeah. Clarity is bae." the second one said.
"You got that right," the third one said, raising her hand and the second one gave her a high five.
The first woman rolled her eyes.
"Mia," Marcel called, making me look at him.
"These are baby mamas. Brandy, Nicole, and Shelly."
"Hello," they all said in unison.
Did he just say, baby mamas?
As in, three of them?
"That's my first one, Marcel Junior," Marcel said.
"Glen Marcel Junior, honey," Brandy said.
"Fuck that," Marcel said, making her throw him a look. "My two youngest sons, born on the same day. Malcolm and Oscar." He gestured at the babies.
I nodded slightly, lowering my gaze as the maids served us food.
Geez, that's a lot. But a big family. Three baby mamas?
And they all live with him.
They must have thought I was the fourth judging by the unpleasant way they were looking at me.
"I know your man got a baby mama too," Marcel said, making me look at him.
He is chewing his meal.
"He has one."
He shrugged. "That's what I said. And you are about to be the second."
Nicole and Shelly chuckled mockingly, making me look at them.
They are chuckling while staring at me.
"I am his fiancée," I said, cutting their laughter. "And I am not even pregnant yet."
"I don't see a ring on your finger, girl." Shelly sang.
My heart tightened as Nicole chuckled.
"About that," Marcel spoke up, taking our attention.
He moved his hand into his pocket, took out something, placed it on the table, and moved it towards me.
It was my ring.
My heart melted.
"The hell?" Shelly asked.
"What is the meaning of this, Marcel?" Nicole asked as I picked up my ring, staring at it and tears filled my eyes.
"Are you proposing to her now, Marcel?" Brandy asked. "I thought you said she is just your...."
"Dennis took it," Marcel retorted, making me look at him.
"He wanted to have his revenge for kicking him in the balls. He almost sold it but he was caught. You are welcome." He said, sipping his drink.
I moved my eyes to my ring, feeling my heart ache and flutter at the time as I recalled the day Big Kai proposed to me.
The ring of a heart that wants me more than anything in this world.
I have to keep it safe. I can't lose it.
It is the only thing that reminds me of him so much.
A movement by the women caught my attention.
Nicole is leaning her head close to Shelly despite her baby in the middle, saying things to her while staring at me.
Shelly nodded as Nicole kept whispering whatever.
What are they.....
Next, a guard walked behind them, taking my attention as he walked towards Marcel.
He leaned down to Marcel's ear, telling him something.
Marcel's eyes moved to me instantly, making my heart pick up.
The man stood up straight and Marcel gestured for him to leave.
He obeyed.
Marcel picked up his drink and took a sip while staring at me.
I swallowed, moving my eyes to my meal.
Why is he staring at me? What did his guard tell him?
"Mia."
My heart skipped as I looked at him.
"Did you know your future mother-in-law is dead?"
I froze.
"Today is her funeral."
My heart tightened.
Funeral? Today?
Oh God, Big Kai.
