Chapter 7

I patted Theo's arm, "Let me talk to him alone for a moment. Don't worry, I won't look back."

Theo smiled, "I trust you, let's have dinner together later!"

I nodded.

At that moment, Winfred was looking at me, his tears falling, "I know I was wrong before, I've already severed ties with Mamie. My mother disowns me, but the Bowman family is still mine."

"Sabina, I've cut ties with Mamie, and from now on I will have nothing to do with them!"

"Let's make up. I promise, from now on, I will only be with you. Also, you were bothered by my ring, right? I bought a new one, this is for you!"

He pulled out a ring, and only then did I notice a new ring on his finger.

"Sabina, I regret it, I was wrong!"

I shook my head, "It's no longer a problem to me, Winfred. If you had done this four years ago, we wouldn't be where we are today."

"But I want to tell you, this has nothing to do with Mamie. Her liking for you and wanting to cling to you simply shows your own charm."

"But you are indecisive. You want everything! You enjoy my pursuit while also enjoying Mamie's dependency on you."

"Can you honestly say you were completely unaware of her feelings for you? I believe you must have felt something. You're not unaware, just unwilling to pull away, especially with someone so infatuated with you. It must feel flattering, right?"

After I exposed his true feelings, he was stunned, "How could you..."

"Stop it, from the very start when you were with Mamie, I told you, I wouldn't forgive you. In the apartment we bought, I left something for you, go back and take a look, then come back and talk to me if you still want to."

Winfred was visibly shaken, and he quickly said, "Wait for me, I will come back!"

He turned and ran back in a flurry, and at that moment, Theo approached, "What did you say to him?"

"Didn't you hear?"

"Sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but I was really curious, what did you leave for him?"

I shrugged, "Nothing much, just a bottle of origami cranes, and a bottle of thumbtacks."

"Theo was stunned, "Thumbtacks?"

"Yes, during the time I was with him, Mamie caused us enough trouble. Winfred and I had a fight, I was unhappy, and a friend comforted me and said, 'think about the good things about Winfred'."

"If he made me happy once, I would fold a crane. If he made me sad, I would drop a thumbtack, to see which there were more of in the end."

"If there were more cranes, I would stay. If there were more thumbtacks, I would leave."

"Brilliant, brilliant!"

Theo gave me a thumbs up, "Only you could come up with something like this, you're going to shatter his heart. Once he sees those thumbtacks, he definitely won't bother you anymore."

"Let's go, Miss Girlfriend, let's have dinner together!"

I took a deep breath.

Indeed, Winfred would not bother me anymore, but I also had no intention of getting entangled with him again.

Since then, he indeed hadn't come looking for me, and though I could not speak for the future, I really breathed a sigh of relief.

My relationship with Theo remained very stable, and Theo was even more caring than I had imagined.
