Chapter 96 Meet My Parents
Tears trailed down Cara's face effortlessly. She had hoped for that day to come but she had also never imagined it coming. She nodded her head, trying to control her tears. "Yes..." She managed to voice out amidst the tears that washed down her red excitedly flushed cheeks.
Romeo's lips curved into a smile, he might have looked like he was calm but his heart was racing uncontrollably. He had not expected a straight and positive answer from her even though he knew she loved him.
He felt like all his worries were washed away by a sudden downpour and now he felt so light without any burdens or worries.
He carefully placed the ring on her ring finger, adorning the small and petite hand of Cara Smith.
Cara blushed hard, her hand, it had been empty for too long, without a ring to show that she belonged somewhere. She stared at the delicate adornment, wondering why something so small had the capability of making almost every woman happy.
"My dad called me today." She said the words in tears and then she sniffed, cleared her throat, sniffed again, and continued in a more clearer tone. "My dad called me today before you arrived, he asked me how we were doing and when we would visit him again."
Romeo, who was still on one knee, asked, "what did you tell him?" His thick brow arched slightly.
Cara gave another sniff. "I told him that we would visit him soon. I also mentioned it that we had good news to tell him, I was thinking about what I was going to tell him about the pregnancy and now this happens... He is going to be so happy." Tears still flowed down her face.
Romeo finally rose from his knees and sat down next to his fiancée on the couch. He took her arms in his and squeezed them softly. "I am so happy that you are happy. I want us to build the strongest and happiest family ever."
"Me too. Let us spend all of eternity together. I really want that." She cupped his face in her small palms. "I don't want to lose you too." A single tear drop rolled down her face.
This was not a tear of joy, it was a tear from the remembrance of everything she went through to please Chris, everything she endured just to grow with him as a family. Just to be able to remain by his side forever.
She remembered when he proposed to her as well, when he made the promise to remain by her side no matter what. When he pretended to care. Or maybe he did care then, until he met a prettier woman who could make him happier. Then she lost everything.
Romeo knew this. He could tell from the desperation in her eyes. He cupped her face in his own palms and placed a kiss on her forehead. Looking into her eyes, his mesmerising emerald eyes bore into her soul. "Cara... You are my woman, my past, my present, and my future. You are everything to me, without you, I'm just like a shell without the snail, useless, prone to be destroyed by anything and everything.
"I never want to lose you and I hope that the day I will have to say goodbye to you never comes."
Cara's eyes fell shut, she let the words sink into her skull. Romeo made it so easy for her to believe him. His soft words and gentle caress were all it took to make a woman become a fool for him.
But she loved him sincerely for the man he was and he claimed to feel the same way for her too, she hoped she would never get to find out that it was all a lie...
With a nod of her head, she opened her eyes again and stared at his face. "So what happens now? You're a very prominent figure, are we going to hold a conference or what are we going to do?"
"Cara..." Romeo called her name softly. "Can we make the pregnancy a surprise for everyone?"
She blinked. "A surprise? How are we going to hide that?"
"We are going to make the announcement about our wedding as soon as we can but the pregnancy should be a news to shock everyone. To keep the baby safe as well from Chris and his psychotic wife who is always plotting something evil."
She understood his point but how was she going to hide the pregnancy when her stomach would start to grow bigger? "How are we going to hide a baby bump? My stomach might have grown bigger by the time we are doing our wedding, people are very observant, they might notice it even if we don't announce it."
Romeo smiled softly. "It is still your first trimester, we are going to get married before the end of your first trimester."
Her eyes widened. "We are? But we haven't even told the parents anything!"
"I already told them everything. I didn't tell them you are pregnant though, I was hoping to tell them after our wedding." He explained.
She stared at him with surprise. "Wait, you mean to tell me that... Your parents have given us their permission to get married?"
He nodded his head. "It wasn't easy, I won't lie to you, but I am Romeo Armani after all."
Cara could not believe the words she was hearing. So there was nothing standing in their way of becoming a family? They could get married the next day if they wanted!
She threw her arms around his neck and pulled him into a tight embrace, she would hug him till the next day if she could.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her back. "I love you so much Cara."
"I love you too Romeo. I love you so much more than you think." She could not suppress the joy that overflowed inside of her.
But back to the main question she was asking. "But... How are we going to hide the pregnancy from the media after our marriage?"
