Chapter 90 Simple Request

Chapter 90 Simple Request

She let out a scoff, refusing to believe that those were the actual words of Cara. How could she be so mean to her? She knew that she might have done some bad things to her that actually hurt her but would she really not get over it? Was she really going to be that petty?

Another scoff escaped her mouth. She reached forward and picked up her drink then gulped it down. Placing the empty cup on the table, she raised her eyes to meet with Cara's.

"Is that really what your response is going to be?" She sat crossed legged with her arms below her breast. "Are you really going to play this petty? Like for real?"

Cara crossed her arms below her breast. "I do not understand what you are talking about. Being petty? If anyone amongst the both of us is being petty then it is you or don't you know that?" She arched her brow at her.

"I came to an old friend for help regarding a mistake I made that anyone could have made. How is that me being petty?" Jessica demanded in a restricting tone.

"This is not a matter of old friends, we are not old friends. We were never friends from what I know now about you, you just wanted to use me and get what you wanted which was my husband and my happy home and now you are back, trying to use me once again to get what you want.

"I am not a fool Jessica and neither am I a little child whom you can deceive or snatch a sweet from. At least not anymore."

Jessica arched her brow. "What kind of translation are you putting to this simple thing I said to you? You are overreacting due to the bad blood we have between us and I can understand that. But I am here with no bad intentions as I have sworn earlier. I just need a simple favor from you!"

Cara gave a roll of her eyes. Jessica was really a case. She reached for her drink and froze half way, remembering that she had to be careful with everything she would be eating and drinking from that moment on because she was carrying a baby.

She retrieved her hand and relaxed into her seat.

Jessica scoffed a laugh and shook her head. "Cara Smith..." She called her name softly. "You never cease to surprise me." She said as she reached forward towards Cara's glass and grabbed it.

Raising the glass to Cara like she was making a cheer, she placed the cup to her lips and emptied it in one go. With a soft sigh of satisfaction, she dropped the glass. "I did not put anything inside it, how could I have even done that when I was sitting right here when the drinks were brought over by the bartender?"

Cara arched a confused brow. It took her a minute to understand the words that had left Jessica's mouth.

Of course she would interpret it that Cara had not drunk the drink because she was doubting Jessica. But Cara did not bother to explain herself to her, there was definitely no need to tell a hawk that a set of baby chicks had been born.

So she went on like nothing had just happened. "Why do you think I should do you a favor?" Cara's voice was composed and calm.

Jessica relaxed into her seat. "Well, I believe there is something grand I did for you that you have not thanked me for yet."

Cara furrowed her brows. "And what is that exactly?"

"I helped you escape from an unhappy home into a home that welcomed you in with wide open arms." Jessica proudly responded with a smug smile on her face.

Cara stared confusedly at the woman that was sitting before her. It had better not be the translation she was thinking. "What exactly are you talking about? You helped me escape from an unhappy home?"

Jessica nodded her head. "Of course I did! The Knowles family obviously treated you like trash! You must have been so unhappy to be living with people like that. Then Chris is such a terrible husband and he must have been worse to you I am sure.

"If I had not made the ultimate sacrifice by taking him from you, how would you have moved to a man like Romeo? I mean think about it! Romeo is smart and handsome and rich and everything a woman could ever dream of and then there is Chris who is far from what any woman could ever want.

"If I had not taken that trash off of your hands, how could you ever have come about dating a man like Romeo? So you have me to thank for everything you have at the moment."

Cara's jaw dropped almost to the ground. Jessica had said so many things that normal people would deny, with so much pride and confidence. She had admitted to stealing Cara's husband and even criticized the Knowles family!

"Are you kidding me?" Cara was forced to ask.

Jessica shook her head. "Why would I say something with such a serious face and you would still think I am joking? You owe me this favor and many more to come, Cara Smith, so you had better respond wisely to this simple request I am making of you."

Cara broke out in a soft laughter. She looked up at Jessica and laughed again. "You think that I owe you a favor because you stole my own husband and my own home from me? Fine. Let us say that I have you to thank because truly, I might not have divorced Chris up until this moment because as a woman, my marital life is something I value a lot.

"So to repay that grand gesture you did, I will offer to pay for our drinks here today so we will now become even." Cara rose to her feet. "I will be seeing you around... Or not."

She turned to walk away but then Jessica's voice stopped her in her tracks. "Don't let history repeat itself again Cara."

Cara turned back to face her. "What do you mean?"
