Chapter 87 Phase One
Plans were made on how to begin their finding for the truth, of course, Romeo offered to carry all the responsibilities so he would avoid stressing her.
He put her to bed that night and left early in the morning after preparing breakfast for her and every other necessary thing.
Cara woke up early in the afternoon, feeling refreshed after a good night rest. She freshened up and went into the kitchen. She was not surprised to find freshly cooked meals in the kitchen but she was pleased.
All day long, she kept touching her stomach, thinking about her baby that was now growing inside of her. How was the baby doing? Was the baby healthy? Did babies inside the womb sleep? If they did, was her baby sleeping?
She did not know whether to eat much or not, but she did not have appetite to eat that morning. Shaking her head, she told herself to stop thinking about the baby and focus more on the new task at hand.
Just at the thought of the Knowles family, her phone started ringing and it turned out to be Jessica. She was both surprised and confused to receive such call.
"What does she want...?" She muttered to herself.
Picking up her phone, she was hesitant to answer the call but she ended up doing so anyway. She placed the phone to her ear but said nothing.
"Hello?" Jessica said into the phone. "Cara, are you there?"
"I'm here..." Cara responded. "What do you want?"
"Is that any way to talk to an old friend?" Jessica demanded. "Acting like we are strangers."
"Are we not strangers?" Cara said in a strict tone. She arched her brow at the ridiculous word that was coming out of Jessica's mouth.
"We were not always strangers. We once had a good relationship or do you not remember? Everything we once shared, the happy memories. They are still fresh in my head."
Cara gave a roll of her eyes. "Cut the crp Jessica, what exactly do you want from me?" Her voice was strict.
Jessica let out a soft sigh. "Fine. I want us to meet up and talk. There is something I have to discuss with you."
"What could you possibly want to discuss with--" Cara cut herself off. The memory of what happened the night before returned to her and she understood why Jessica must be calling her. There must be serious issue at the moment and Chris must have asked her to find a solution.
She felt a smile crawl up her face. "I wonder what a woman of such high position has to say to someone like me." She said in a mocking tone.
Jessica gave a roll of her eyes, knowing that she had been figured out. If anything, she knew Cara well. Cara was smart and she was never the last to figure out a situation or something like.
"Can we just meet up please?" The please came out with reluctance. She had never imagined herself at the mercy of Cara before. She always wanted to be the one on top.
She continued, trying to hide the irritation in her tone; "we can meet up at a bar and have a little chat over some drinks like we used to. It will be fun, I promise, there's no hidden motive behind it okay? No set up, no nothing."
"Oh so you agree to always trying to set me up?" Cara scoffed a laugh. "How unexpected."
Jessica gritted her teeth angrily, blood rushed to her face and anger pulsated through her vein. "Will you see me or not?"
Cara kept mute for a second and more to think about it. She had nothing to do for the day anyway so she might as well just give her audience but she had to be extra careful not to trust Jessica and also not to take anything offered by her especially now that she was pregnant.
She finally responded. "Sure. Text me the address and time and I will meet you there."
Jessica was surprised and confused but also thankful. She never expected cara to pay her any audience but she was extremely grateful that she did. Although her gratitude would never be portrayed.
"Alright then," she spoke up, trying to hide the excitement in her tone. "I will do just that. See you in two hour's time."
She hung up and jumped to her feet squealing in excitement but then a sudden pain from her waist caused her to stop and bend forward, holding the affected area.
Lifting her top up, she noticed the area turning darker, the bruise getting larger.
The other time that she was shoved by Chris against the couch and then hitting the floor roughly, it has caused a bruise in her side and she had overlooked it, not applying any ointment to it.
But now she was starting to regret it. Yet once again, she ignored it. "Now that Cara has agreed to meet me," she stood up straight, "the first phase of my plan is complete. On to the second stage, I have to find a way to convince her into talking her boyfriend to not cancel the contract with us.
"If she refuses then I will have to find something incriminating to use against her and force her into giving in to my wish. I only have two hours to do so, I have to quickly--"
A knock on her door cut her off. "Who is it?!" She asked in an irritated tone.
"I apologize for disturbing you madam but Mr Knowles has asked to see you in the living room." A maid voiced out from the other side of the door.
Jessica scrunched for forehead in confusion. What could the man want from her now? After all, the other day, he had ignored her when Chris gave such an absurd option and walked away. What could he possibly have to say to her now?
But he was her father in law and she was obliged to obey. She rolled her eyes. "I'm on my way."
