Chapter 72 Chicken Ginger
"I think Romeo feels like he can truly breathe again thanks to you." Camilla said with a smile on her face.
Cara felt her cheeks redden and she smiled softly.
"Okay. So that's what we are going to do. Now, let us share our duties. I will work on the decorations, what's left is cake, drinks, appetizers and presents. You all should decide on which one you feel capable of doing." Andrew said.
"I'll take the cake!" Camilla exclaimed excitedly. "The caterers in charge of our wedding makes the best of the best cakes. She is very talented and I think she will be able to make a good iron man cake.
"Do you think it should be a statue of him? I mean Iron man. I think that will look very cool and mature!"
"Sure, you're on cake. Just make sure it's perfect and more than one please." Andrew ordered.
"I'm on appetizers." Jastrow said. "Although the caterers should do that too but it's cool, I know someone anyway."
"That girl you have been dying to hook up with?" Andrew asked. "I can't believe you are going to use Romeo's birthday as an opportunity to have sx with some girl."
"Okay, firstly, she's not just some girl and secondly, I'm not using this as an opportunity. I just want to help a friend. Then if she wants to hook up, who am I to say no?"
The three guys shared a laugh and Camilla shook her head. "Look at these men, talking about women like that." She muttered to Cara.
Cara simply smiled.
Rick placed a hand on Camilla's thigh as he spoke. "I think presents should be done individually. Everyone should buy what they want to give him and if you feel like it, you can buy a little extra more."
"Yeah I know that but aside from individual presents, I want there to be a butt load of other presents on the present table." Andrew suggested.
They all nodded in agreement. Rick continued. "Then in that case, I think Cara and I will handle the drinks and presents. It's something I can do alone but I want you to know that you contributed for his birthday."
Cara smiled softly and thankfully. She was grateful to know that she didn't have to carry drinks on her own.
She would have gratefully carried the expenses for drinks, if only her boyfriend's taste in wine was not the piece of a house! And not to mention, his friends had the same high taste and expectation in wine and champagne.
After deciding on what and what to order, the meeting was over and each of them returned to their homes.
It was a fine Saturday and the perfect time for a date. Romeo had gone over to her place and insisted on cooking for her. He was a good chef and that fact was undeniable.
He made a few mistakes, but one of the perks of having an even better chef for a girlfriend was that she was always there to correct his mistakes.
By the end of the day, their dinner was ready and Cara insisted on serving. He had prepared Ginger chicken with rice noodles. He added a little amount of cilantro to avoid the scent to be too strong and just the perfect amount of scallion.
It was like he was born to be a chef. It didn't take long for the meal to be ready and his only mistakes were while he was preparing the chicken breasts.
Cara sat down opposite him at the dining and was the first to take a bite from the food. She felt her taste buds come alive immediately and her mouth watered. "Oh my goodness..." She muttered. Taking another fork full, she chewed and swallowed, everything still seemed impossibly good. "Hmm! This is amazing! I didn't expect it to be this good!"
Romeo grinned satisfactorily. "I'm glad you like it. What I initially had in mind to prepare was chicken Apple pasta primavera but I realized you didn't have any zucchini in the fridge. I thought about something else I could do with chicken and this was what came to mind."
"It's awesome, really." She stated with a big smile on her face. "And I'm not really a fan of zucchini which is why I don't have any. Maybe we can try to make it with cucumbers?"
He chuckled softly. "I thought about it, but you also don't have cucumbers. Let's go shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables tomorrow."
She nodded her head with a smile on her face. "I have just been too busy lately to get anything done around here. I don't remember the last time I vacuumed." She realized what she had said and looked up at him.
He chewed on his food and swallowed. "Well it's a good thing I vacuumed today then." He said before raising his glass to his lips and sipping from it.
She had expected him to perceive her as dirty or ignorant of her duties but instead, he was glad he could have helped her clean up?
She didn't want to believe her ears. "You are too good to be true, Romeo." She said to him.
He looked up from his food at her, his expression was that of a confused person. "What?"
"I mean..." She expressed with a slight chuckle. "You didn't care that I am not a billionaire, you didn't care that I am a divorcée, you spend on me, you are this handsome, you cook and clean?" She scoffed.
"I feel like I am being delusional here. Like seriously, are you real?"
A gentle smile touched his lips as he stared at her. He rose from his feet and walked over to her, reducing himself to stay on one knee, he took her hands and placed them on his face. "Go ahead and check." He said softly.
She felt her stomach tie into complicated knots and her middle tingled. His voice made a shiver run down her spine in a good way and she felt frozen in the moment.
All she did was stare into his eyes.
