Chapter 49 A Piece Of Her Mind
"You are the worst man-- no, the worst human to ever exist." She said to him.
"What?" He seemed confused by her sudden rude reply. "What are you...? Cara--"
"You useless son of a btch! What do you actually take me for? A cheap woman? You think I'll come crawling back to you because you bought me a car? A cheap car?!
"Who told you it works like that Chris? Rather than apologizing, you just downgraded my life to the lowest level possible and you want me to do what? Tell you I love you and go back to you?"
She scoffed a laugh. "I would rather eat sht than do that! No, I would rather jump in front of a car and then jump in front of a train and have them dump my body into the river where piranhas can eat me instead of going back to you!"
"Watch your tone Cara, I am being really open and generous with you here!" He barked. "So if this is a joke then you had better stop it because it is not funny."
"Oh honey, it is far from funny." Cara stated. "You are a selfish jerk with the worst personality in the entire solar system! What? A cheap car? I'm driving an expensive Benz and you want me to freak out because you bought me a cheap car?"
He sighed. "Fine, I didn't know you liked expensive things now. Since this is the case, I'll have the car switched, how about that? I can't offer you a car as expensive as the one you are driving now but it will be good."
She broke out in a loud laughter. "You think the car is the problem?"
"Stop beating around the bush and tell me what exactly the problem is!" He yelled out angrily. "I can't help make us happen if you won't open up to me so tell me what the problem is and I'll get rid of it!"
"You." She responded sharply, almost cutting him off. "You are the problem Chris, I want you gone, I want you to just disappear. I want the floor to open up and swallow you up right now!"
"Cara--"
"What? You know me? I like cheap things? Cheap clothes, cheap shoes, cheap bags, cheap jewelry, cheap everything! Do you know why I bought them? Because I was poor Chris! I was poor and struggling before I married you.
"My family weren't rich and I learnt how to manage funds ever since I was five! But now, I am going to live flamboyantly because I am doing just fine with my pretty rich boy.
"I will take my parents on trips and buy the best of the best bags and shoes because I can! Currently speaking, my purse costs more than the car you ride so don't even think you know my level." She sneered.
She wasn't the kind of person to brag about her things but as long as it was Chris, she would go all the way. After all, it was true.
Romeo had purchased it for her and she remembered that it cost a fortune!
She didn't even spare Chris a minute to speak as she continued. "You're trying to brag to me about Breeze? Oh please, Andrew Malhotra is a friend of mine and we are even going on a cruise party together."
"Wait you are?!" Chris exclaimed in surprise.
"I'm going to say this once and never repeat myself again. Don't you ever in your terrible stricken life dare to call me again because if you do, then I'll really go all the way then.
"There are things a woman like me can do to destroy your life, Chris, don't forget that."
"What?" Chris was surprised at the chill in her voice. Did she just threaten him?
But before he could get another word in, she hung up.
She wished she could throw her phone away or smash it on the ground from the anger that roused inside of her. She had never felt so belittled in her entire life before!
She knew her family was never rich and that she always managed but did he have to spell it out for her? Did he have to mercilessly pour salt in her wound while smiling and saying it would heal her pain?
"What an ahole..." She muttered to herself.
Taking a calming breath, she erased her face of anger and cleared her throat before going back into the mini mart.
She was surprised to meet only Andrew with a basket filled with bottled wines and whiskeys. "Oh, hi."
"Hello beautiful." Andrew smiled. "If you are looking for Armani, he stormed off after you went out to answer your call. Don't know what's suddenly up with him." He shrugged.
"Oh..." Cara muttered. "Well thank you for telling me." She flashed him a smile before turning to leave the mart.
But remembering Chris' words, she stopped and turned back to face Andrew. "This is an odd question and I bet you probably don't know him but I am just curious. Do you... By chance... Have you ever met a man named Chris Knowles?"
Andrew's brow twitched. "Chris Knowles? Of course! He is one of Breeze's valuable customers. Number nine amongst the top twenty I think. Why?"
"He is my terrible ex husband." Cara admitted with a sigh.
"Wait what? No way!" Andrew had a smile on his lips.
"Yeah. He said he bought a car from you recently. He'll come back to return it, he might be a jerk but he's also a fool." She rolled her eyes. "Can you please just accept it back?"
Andrew stared surprisedly at her. "No freaking way. When he bought the car, he made a statement about how important the person he wants to gift it to is. He said the person is more important to him than his wife. So he meant... His ex wife?"
Cara rolled her eyes. "That fool really is the worst person on the planet."
Andrew let out a soft laugh which she chorused.
Standing in front of him, she remembered how taken aback she was by his looks and she swallowed hard.
