Chapter 155 Counting Her Enemies
Cara did not enjoy anything more than the company of her man, alone, together in the warmth of her bed and blanket over their bodies.
His arms, stretched over her body and pulling her closer to himself. Her back pressing against his firm chest.
It still felt like a dream, the way everything was working out for her was almost too easy. She could not help but to get an uneasiness as she thought of the day that followed.
She planned to meet with Chris, not to fight, not to argue, but rather to reason with him and make him see that she was happy now and if he truly loved her enough to want her back then he would let her go.
If he refused, then she would have no choice but to involve the police. And of course, she was not going alone, she was going with an escort.
Romeo had already done everything for her, he arranged strong men and women to go around with her and keep her safe at all times.
It was excessive if she were to be honest but she also did not mind it at the period.
Romeo slept peacefully behind her while her eyes remained wide open. She couldn't sleep, anxiety had won her that night.
So she decided to count her enemies. Jessica was no longer a threat, she hoped. She had not done anything lately to make her seem a threat to her peace anymore and even if she tried, she would threaten her with the fact that she knew Jeremy was Jayden's son and not Chris'.
With Chris being obsessively in love with her, she doubted his parents would be any threat.
Of course, their hatred remained but as long as Chris was alive and well, he would not allow them to try anything stupid.
Plus, the Knowles couple were always smart which meant they would be smart enough to stay away from the Armani family so as to avoid getting in trouble with them and destroying their deal with them.
They were already one a warning, anymore mistake would not go without punishment.
So in short, she was safe thanks to her coming marriage.
"Why aren't you asleep?" Romeo's deep voice took her by surprise.
Maybe because he just woke up, his voice seemed thicker and sexier, causing a stir to rise inside her body.
"How did you know I was awake?" She questioned, her soft voice became even softer due to her sudden vulnerability.
Damn! Was her pregnancy to blame? Why was she so easily aroused?
"You have been sighing for a while now and I can't help but to think that something serious is disturbing your mind. What's wrong?" He leaned in closer to her as he spoke, his words causing her ear to tingle.
"Well uhm..." She did not want to tell him that she was worried about Chris because she knew he would ask her not to go even with her new escort team.
"Remember my friend, Abigail Coleman? The doctor." She asked him.
"I do. Is something wrong with her?" He seemed a little more intrigued now that it involved someone she cared about.
"Well kind of..."
His hands around her waist turned her body to face him. Looking into his emerald eyes, she just wanted to forget everything else and kiss him till dawn. Probably do more than kissing as well.
But she had to control herself, now was the perfect time to call his attention to her friend's issue.
So she cleared her throat and said to him as clearly as she could. "Well you see, she had a divorce with her rich husband when she has nothing and he took custody of their kid and remarried. But the thing is that, he never lets her see her son and his new wife mistreats the kid.
"Now she is a prominent doctor with a lot of money so she wants to charge him to court and demand custody. She even has more money and assets than him now because all his spendings are on his new wife and not their kid.
"I promised her that I would get you to help her and I have been feeling hesitant to tell you for a while now. But if I don't help her then I'll just be a bad friend who doesn't keep to her promises."
Romeo was silent, his silence could have meant anything though.
She could not help but to wonder what it meant. Was he angry that she gave his word to someone he did not know without his consent?
But his words made her suddenly racing heart calm down. "You should have told me the moment you made that promise to her, I would have started working on it since that day but nevertheless...
"Okay I'll talk to my lawyer and give him the details you have given me. She knows her situation better than anyone else so she will have ti meet up with him as soonest as possible. Talk to her and send me her contact details so u can forward it to the lawyer.
"Also, let her know that she doesn't have to worry about paying the lawyer, I don't say this to be rude or anything but she could go bankrupt if she decides to pay him herself."
Cara was wordless, she stared at the man right next to her, was he really going to take care of something like that without even knowing Abigail personally?
She did not know what to do, what to say. How to show her gratitude. If she felt that way then she wondered how Abigail would feel once she heard it for herself.
It would definitely feel like a dream until she would finally get her son back, then she would know it was her reality.
Rather than saying how grateful she was, she decided to show him instead.
Sliding her hand from his chest down to his waistline, she smiled softly, "I cannot tell you how grateful I am... Instead..."
Romeo's brow arched, a seductive smirk appeared on his face. "Show me then..." He whispered softly.
"With pleasure..."
