Chapter 120 Withheld Orders
The house was silent as Romeo and Cara walked in together. It had been a while since Romeo stepped foot inside Cara's apartment.
He looked around, feeling like it had been years ago since he had seen the place. It had not changed at all. But that was not the only thing that made him look around the place, the living room was not untidy, but it was the same way he had left it those days ago after their fight.
He turned around to look at her, she probably knew what he was thinking judging from his silent emerald eyes.
She smiled softly. "Ever since the day we fought, I couldn't find the strength to leave my bedroom. I just laid there in my bed, drowning in my sadness."
"I'm booking an appointment right now with the doctor so they can check on our baby. We have to make sure everything is fine firstly before any other thing." Romeo said, his eyes now focused on the screen of his phone.
"No it's fine, you don't have to. I know that the baby is fine, I can feel it." Cara said in an attempt to convince her fiancé but it was already too late for that.
"Done. First thing tomorrow morning, we leave for the doctor's office." He said with a straight face.
Cara let out a soft sigh before settling down on her couch. A question had been battling her mind for a while now and she could not help but to wonder if it would be a good idea to ask him or not.
But little did she know how observant her fiancé was and how keen those emerald eyes were. It was impossible for such a thing to go by unnoticed by Romeo.
He sat down next to her and took her small and delicate hand in his. "Tell me what is it that is bothering you so much that you have to fall mute."
She looked up at her lover with surprise burning in her beautiful eyes. "You noticed?" She questioned with widened eyes.
"I would be blind not to." Romeo responded. "Well, either blind or ignorant. And I am neither of them so tell me what is bothering you."
She felt hesitant at first, not knowing how to lay down her question, but after a moment's pause, she finally spoke up. "During our fight... Why did you stop sending me gifts like you usually do? Not that I am attracted to material things but... Why did you stop?"
"What do you mean I stopped?" Romeo asked her while staring at her with an arched brow.
"Well I mean what I mean, stopped. You stopped sending me presents and gifts and flowers and that was what made me really worried that you are actually thinking about breaking off our marriage and it made me so depressed to think about--"
"Wait hold on," Romeo cut her off. "I still don't understand you. What do you mean I stopped? I never stopped, I took my time to order special gifts for you every single day like every other day. I am not petty enough to do something like that." He explained to her.
"Wait what?" She asked him confusedly. "What are you talking about? I didn't get any presents or flowers or anything at all! No delivery came to my doorstep, as you can see, it is empty of any packages even at the moment."
"This isn't making any sense." Romeo said before falling quiet to think for a moment. "What exactly could be the cause of something like this? I ordered every single product and paid for it! Hold on let me reach out to the company first."
He immediately took out his phone and dialed the customer care service of the usual company he always ordered from.
After a while, the call connected and a woman's voice could be heard from the other end of the phone. "Hello and good afternoon to you from Topmost fashion, how can I be of service to you today?"
"Yeah, good afternoon. So I placed some orders everyday for over the course of a week plus now but everything I ordered has not been delivered unlike before when it would get dispatched that very day! What could be the problem because I already made payments for them." He explained to the lady.
"Oh I see, please can you tell me your name so that I can go through the computer and check it out for you?"
"Of course. I made my orders under the name Romeo Armani."
"Okay, Romeo Arma-- Romeo Armani?! Wait hold up, are you really Romeo Armani? Are you Romeo? Are you the one on the call right now?" The lady could not hide the surprise in her tone as she asked.
Romeo could not say he was surprised though. A gentle smile formed on his lips. "Yes, I am Romeo Armani."
"Oh my goodness!" She exclaimed in surprise. "Mr Armani, I am so sorry for the trouble you are facing, I am a huge fan of you and I adore your family so so much! I really don't know how to let you know this but you are my role model!"
Romeo let out a soft chuckle. "Thank you so much for the nice compliments. I am not calling to raise any issues with you or the company, I just wish to know why my order has been delayed all this while without my consent."
"Yes of course sir! I am doing it right away Mr Armani! You don't have to worry, everything will be sorted out before you know it! I promise you that. All of your orders will come pouring in like a free stream sir! Please just give me some few minutes to get this done."
"You do not have to be so formal with me," Romeo said to her. "Please you can leave all of the formality out. Romeo is fine."
Just then, Cara stared at him with an arched brow, questioning his words. Was he really going to flirt with another woman in her presence?
