Chapter 79
Luna Maria comes running out and hugs Jake. “I wasn’t sure if we would find you again. How is Sonya?”
“Not good. She’s been in and out of consciousness but her body is healing. She’s not bleeding anymore.”
“Let’s get you all home. We have to carry her out of here flat. I don’t know how to do that without hurting her.” Greg says.
“I am all over it.” Francesca comes out from behind all the wolves. “I have a spell that we can use to carry her out surrounded by everyone so she won’t be hurt.”
“Let’s do it then. We need to get her home.” Jake says in a worried tone.
Greg pulls his lace back off the branches and the group pulls the branches down away from Sonya. As they pull them back Jake can see that Sonya is very pale and her breathing is shallow. “Jake?” She asks in barely a whisper.
“I’m here my love.”
“I…I…am….so….cold.” She shivers as she is trying to talk.
“Baby just rest up. We are going to get you back home.”
Sonya nods and closes her eyes going back to sleep right away.
“She does not look good. There is a doctor waiting back at the road. I will let them know to have blood waiting.” Alpha Scott says. “Let’s move now.”
Francesca and another witch wave their hands and Sonya flies off the ground to everyone’s chest level. “Guide her out Alpha.” Francesca says.
Both witches hold their hands and keep chanting as the group makes their way out of the dense forest.
It takes the group 30 minutes to get back up to the road to the doctor. There are several vehicles and more warriors there waiting. The doctor opens an awaiting ambulance for Sonya. Jake & Greg climb in with her. The doctor puts two IVs in right away. One for fluids and one for blood.
The ambulance takes Sonya directly to the Supermoon pack hospital. Once there she is taken into surgery to make sure her leg is set properly to heal. “Alpha you have to wait out here.”
“I need to be with my Luna.” Jake says trying to push past the doctor.
“Alpha, you can’t. Let them do what they need to.” Greg holds him back.
“Beta, I can’t lose her.”
“The doctor knows that & will make sure her and the pups make it out. Ain’t that right doctor?”
“Yes Alpha. Yes Beta. We will do everything in our power to make sure they are all okay. Now please wait here. I will bring you in as soon as we can.”
Jake nods and Greg helps him to sit down in a chair outside the operating room.
“Greg I can’t lose her. I just can’t. She was talking about how she thinks she needs to die because she is too much of a burden to me.” Jake says as tears run down his face.
Greg pulls him into a hug. “She will be okay man. I promise. Besides when she’s better we can get mad at her for thinking she is a burden.”
Jake and Greg chuckle and Jake nods as he wipes his eyes. “Damn this woman.”
“I know man. It’s crazy to think where we were even just six months ago.”
“Right. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Besides I think you all like her as much as I do.”
Greg chuckles and blushes. “You could say that. I never thought you would find someone that likes to play with all of us. Too bad she won’t share you.”
“It’s fine really. I like the fact that she is possessive over me. I am thinking when this is all over with, we should go back to no fucking each other’s mates again. We can mess around but no fucking. What do you think? Do you think everyone will be okay with that?”
“Yes, I don’t know how you share her the way it is. She’s perfect man.”
“Damn I know that pussy of hers I mean fuck.” Jake says with a groan.
“Alpha, please stop. You are going to give me a boner sitting here talking to you.” Greg says with a chuckle.
Jake laughs and says “yeah I know. I’m fighting my own right now.”
They both sit and laugh and talk while they wait for the doctor to come back out. After an hour the doctor came out.
“Alpha. Beta. Your Luna is doing well. Her leg was set okay. We just helped hold it in place. Her body is already healing the break. Hopefully by morning the bone will be reconnected but it will take about a week for her to be fully healed. She did lose a significant amount of blood so we are continuing to transfuse blood. I did have the obstetrician check the pups and she says they are perfect. They are quite large though so she will come talk to you later about what that means. We are getting her settled into a room right now so I will take you to her if you would follow me please.”
“Thank you doctor.”
“It’s my pleasure Alpha.”
Jake and Greg hug and follow the doctor to Sonya’s room. When they walk in, they are met with 3 monitors and 3 IVs poles. “We have an antibiotic and booster in this one, fluids in this one, and the blood in this one. We are giving pain meds on a scheduled basis as well. This should be the last blood bag she will need.”
The doctor nods and leaves the room.
Jake stands at the foot of the bed frozen staring at Sonya. She still looks really pale. Greg nudges Jake to go to Sonya’s side and hold her hand. Greg takes her other hand. Jake bends down and kisses her forehead and then her lips softly.
Sonya takes a deep breath and her eyes open a little bit. “Jake is that you?”
“Yes my love it’s me. Are you okay?”
“I am okay. Just cold and I hurt but I am okay. What happened? Where are we?”
“We are at the Supermoon pack hospital. We were ambushed on the way back to the hideaway. They rolled our vehicle and we had to run through the forest but you tripped and broke your leg. Do you remember anything after that?”
Sonya thought for a minute and shook her head. “The last thing I remember is the battle and Hades dying.”
“Well, the gods came and helped us finish off the army or so we thought. I had to set your leg when you broke it. I’m so sorry this happened to you.” Jake looks down as tears fell from his eyes.
Sonya moves her hand up to touch his cheeks. She winces as she wasn’t able to. “Jake, my love. This is not your fault. If you hadn’t set my leg I would still be bleeding. The doc said that whoever set my leg, saved my life. And that’s you, my love, you saved my life.”
Jake looks at her with a sad smile. “I can’t lose you my love.”
“You won’t I’m right here.”
Jake looks up at Greg and they exchange looks knowing what she talked about in the forest.
“What? There is more to the story isn’t there.”
“It’s nothing my love. You don’t need to worry about it. Just get better. Our pups need you strong.”
“Please don’t lie to me. Please tell me.”
Jake and Greg exchange a look again and Greg nods to Jake to tell her.
“When we were waiting for Alpha Scott to come you told me that you wished you would die so you weren’t a burden to me.” Jake trails off as he starts crying again. “Baby, I can’t lose you. You are not a burden to me or anyone. Please you have to believe me.”
Sonya is crying as well. “I will keep working on building up my self-worth. I’m sorry I made you think that you would lose me. I promise to never say anything like that again. I promise not to leave you. We have to get married yet and we have pups coming soon. We’re stuck together until death do us part baby.”
Jake smiles at her and kisses her hard. He presses his forehead to hers. “I love you baby.”
“I love you too. Now get in here so I can sleep snuggled to my Alpha.”
Jake and Greg laugh.
“Alpha can I borrow you for a minute please?” The doctor says as he sticks his head in the room.
