Chapter Thirty-Six

I realized that I didn't eat any breakfast and it was lunch time.

"Jaden." I called out, lowering my voice.

"What’s up?"

"Are you done yet?"

"I don't know, almost."

"Hurry up, please. I am starving!" I said.

"You're not even burning any calories." he said.

"I didn't eat any breakfast.” I snapped.

“Damn, chill." he said.

"I will if you come out right now." I said.

"Jaden?" I asked, "Can you please hurry up?”

There was no reply from him.

“Can I leave to grab some food?"

"Not without me.”

"Why?" I asked. "I am starving."

"Just hold on a second."

"I don't need to, you already have a pile of clothes over here, did you forget that?"

"Just wait." he said.

"I am going to leave in five minutes if you don't come out." I said firmly.

He sighed and got out of the changing room. He paid for all of the clothes. I grabbed his hand this time.

"Come on… I’m going to die of hunger." I dragged him to the food court.

"Hey, you want to eat at a resturant?" Jaden said.

"Do you know how long I waited for you? You might not be hungry, but I can already tell the place that you are suggesting is far away, so no.” I said, looking at him.

"I was asking." Jaden said, holding up his hand, in surrender. "And anyways, this is fast food, they aren't healthy."

I turned to him.

"Great! I need to gain weight anyways. And when did you care about what’s healthy and what’s not?"

He smirked, knowing I was right.

I dragged him to the nearest fast food store and ordered large fries, two large burgers, a tub of chicken, two slushies and some chocolate chip cookies. I paid with the card.

I sat down on a table with Jaden and started eating. Jaden reached over grabbed my slushie, taking a sip.

"Hey!" I said. "That’s mine."

"Sorry." he said, smirking. "I didn't know.” He took one more sip before dropping it by my plate.

"Asshole.” I commented before taking a long sip.

Jaden grinned, "That’s kind of like kissing."

"Not technically." I said, rolling my eyes at him as I continued eating.

"Yes, it is-" He argued and I wasn’t in the mood.

"Ok. Yes, got it! I kissed you. Better? Happy?" I said trying to shut him up. I justed wanted to eat my food in peace.

“Can you even finish this?”

"Stop being judgemental and yes, I can finish this, watch!" I said, taking a big bite of my chocolate chip cookie.

"Ohh, I’m going to watch.” He smirked, stealing one of my chocolate chip cookies before shoving it into his mouth.

"My cookie!" I said, leaning over to smack Jaden,

"That wasn't for you! That was for me."

"Oops." Jaden said, after he swallowed.

"Ohh… I feel thristy now."

My eyes widened as I grabbed my slushie away from him. But he wasn't planning on grabbing my slushie, again, he stole another cookie. My last cookie.

"Hey! You tricked me, and you ate my last cookie!”

"You didn't say we couldn’t trick each other."

"I am going to kill you!" I said, putting the slushie down.

"Not after I eat some fries!" Jaden said, grabbing a handful of fries befire stuffing them into his mouth.

“Traitor!”

He grabbed the pack and I got off my seat, trying to reach for my fries. But he stood up and he was obviously taller than me by over five inches.

"Give it back!" I said as I tiptoed in my heels.

Jaden laughed, before putting some of my fries into his mouth.

"You are so mean!" I said after I gave up. I plopped down on my seat, pouting.

"I know." he said, as he grabbed my slushie and took another sip.

"Could you just eat your own food?" I asked.

"Nope, don’t want to."

“Brat!” I spat.

"See, you are perfectly fine sharing your food." he said as he continued eating.

"Oh, trust me. I am dying on the inside, you just don't know." I said, as I rolled my eyes.

He laughed. I had to smile from just seeing him laugh, his laughter was quite contagious.

I tend to get that feeling a lot. I just can't help myself but smile because I know I made someone happy.

I sipped on my slushie and we continued to eat until we were full. I guess he was right, I couldn’t finsih it by myself, I finished it just because of him.

Shortly after, we walked out of the food court.

"Great, we spent exactly two hours in there." he said, checking his watch.

"I see Tom." I said.

We strolled towards the car and dropped the bags off in the trunk.

"Where are we headed now?" I asked, Jaden when we got into the car.

"We are not taking the car, we are strolling around this area." Jaden said, holding out a hand to help me out of the car.

I took his hand and got out. I expected him to let go of it when I got out, but he didn't. He held onto it. I wouldn't let go of his hands too. They were warm and welcoming. I liked holding his hand, I loved all of those moments we held hands. I held onto his arm instead as we started walking. He seemed to like it.

We walked around the block, looking into various stores windows. It was interesting. This place was almost like California in the summer. It was busy and everyone seemed to know where they were headed. It was a tad hot but I liked it here.

"Come in here!" Jaden said, pulling me towards an old, quaint building.

"Here?"

"Yeah."

The building the dirty and dark and the stairs were uneven. It had a musty feeling.

There were big graffiti on the grey and dull yellow walls. It was odd as to how Jaden knew such a place existed.

A really dim light was lit outside a door. It was kind of weird that people lived here. We continue climbing up the stairs until we reached a big red door, that was graffitied with the word ‘fucked’.

"Wow, what a place." I said, looking at Jaden.

"Like you said, don't be judgemental. This place is better than it is seems." Jaden said, looking at me.

I nodded and spoke as sarcastically as possible, "Yup, nice place, full of beauties, gotta love this place."

"Just shut up." He chuckled and I laughed.

“Are you ready for it?"

Before I even replied, he opened the door and I gasped. Yes, this place wasn’t bad at all.

"What did I say?" Jaden said.

He always had to win.

Again, he grabbed my hand and led me to the edge of the building to watch the sunset.

"You said that you wanted us to watch more sunsets, right?" he asked and I couldn’t help but coo as butterflies erupted in my stomach.

“You remembered…”

“Yes baby.”

He was the absolute best. He was thoughtful, sweet and caring.

I blushed. “You really did remember?"

He turned around, scratching his head. "I guess."

I hugged him from behind. The heat from his body was warm and it was coming through my dress and onto my skin. My heart beat a little faster and my stomach twisted in joy as I had him in my arms. It felt nice having him in my arm.

"Thanks." I said, pulling away.

He cleared his throat. "You’re welcome."

I couldn't tell what he was thinking or feeling, his face was so straight with no readable emotions.

"Come." he said, shaking me out of my thoughts.

He sat on the edge of the building. My mouth opened but I couldn't speak.

"I wouldn't fall, trust me. I've been at it plenty of time." he said, smirking. With the sun right behind, his beauty was almost inhuman, my stomach twisted again.

I walked up to him and he helped me sit down.

"What if I fall?" I asked.

"I'll fall with you."

I stared at him for a few moment. I don't know if he was telling the truth or not. He was like a mask. You could never be certain what was really underneath his stoic expression.

"Are you serious?" I asked him, staring at his eyes. His eyes draws me in every time. They are now hazel with hints of blue.

"I am serious." he said. I could feel his breath against my skin and I shivered a little.

I looked away, staring at his eyes for a long time, makes me feel exposed, like he could see every single flaw in me, like he could see my memories and through me as a whole.

"Just don't look down and could you close your eyes for a second?" he asked.

I nodded and closed my eyes. I held onto his arm, I didn't feel safe without it.

"Just hold on a second… almost." Jaden whsipered. I smiled.

"Ok, open your eyes." Jaden said.

I opened my eyes and tried to hold back another gasp.

It was beyond beautiful, the sky had a light shade of every color in a rainbow. And the tall, glass building in front of us made it all seem like a lucid dream.

"This is beautiful, how did you know the exact time?" I asked, not looking at Jaden. I couldn't even tear my eyes away from the sky.

He chuckled, "I came here way too often."

"I would come up here every single day if I was you." I said.

From the apartment below, a song played.

"I know that song!" I said and started singing along. I never sang in front of a boy before, never, ever did. He was the first boy that had ever seen me sing.

When the song was over another song was played. I turned to him.

"Does this always happen?"

"No, I think they’re having a party, somewhere downstairs."

"Wow...in this bulding? I'm surprised it is not tumbling down." I said and he laughed.

The night continued and the city lights came on. The songs continued playing and I continued to sing along.

Jaden cheered me on occasionally. It was the best night of my new life. Jaden quickly checked his watch and grabbed my hand.

"Come on baby, we are late." he said.

"Late for what?"

"Just don’t stress baby, you’d find out.” Jaden said, helping me off of the edge. We raced down the stairs like little kids, laughing hysterically not minding if we disturbed anyone’s peace with our noise.

We rushed into the car, laughing like maniacs at our little sport. We drove towards the airport.
