CHAPTER 112- CONFRONTATION
CHAPTER 112- CONFRONTATION
Asher couldn't believe his ears. It can't be; it's absolutely not possible. There has been absolutely nothing suspicious about his meeting Kiya; it had been purely coincidental.
He had walked into the coffee shop that random evening, and she had been the only one there to serve him. There was no way that was planned; it was not possible because how on earth would the NBI have known that he'd be going to the coffee shop? How would they have known he'd be interested in her even?
"Liar," he barked at Harry, who had a smug expression on his face. "And listen to me, Agent Harry or whatever your name is: the next time you call my girlfriend a slut, I will make you regret it. I'm done with this call."
Just as he was about to get up and end the call, Harry's voice called out to him, "I'm sorry, okay?" He said, "I'm sorry I called her a slut, but I'm not lying. Her real name is Agent Akiyarah Thomas; she is just using the alias Kiya Cole. Everything was planned and orchestrated. Surely some things were coincidental, but it was mainly orchestrated."
Asher settled back down on his seat as he listened to what Harry had to say.
Harry continued, "The NBI has been watching you for a while, and they figured you had a type, considering all the girls you dated had similar features. They also know you frequented the coffeeshop so all they had to do was plant a girl that looks exactly like what you're attracted to and plant her in a place where you frequented. Every other thing fell in place basically after you both met."
Asher shook his head repeatedly, not wanting to hear what Harry was saying, not wanting to believe it, but he knew deep down that everything Harry was spewing was most likely the truth because really, why would he lie about this?
"If you don't believe me," Harry said, "then you can just confront her about it. Of course, don't mention my name, but you get the drift."
"That's enough," Asher said. "My PI will settle you," then he logged out of the call.
He sat still in his chair, thinking back to every encounter he has had with Kiya and every moment. He thought about how if there was any sign, how had he missed it?
He thought about everything she has ever told him and wondered which is the truth and which is a lie, but most importantly, he thought about how she felt about him, if that too, like every other thing about their relationship, is a lie.
He could feel himself starting to panic and his heart racing. Sweat was starting to form on his forehead, and he started counting from a hundred downwards in an attempt to calm himself. When he got to sixty-four, he felt his breathing normalise, and he felt better.
Anger took over, and he rushed out of his room to head to Kiya's room to confront her about everything that had just happened.
As he stepped out of his room, he saw her in his kitchen, in just his t-shirt, which stopped just at the bend of her butt; she had her hair up in a messy bun and her face was so beautiful despite having no iota of make-up. He stared at her, trying to understand how such a beautiful, innocent-looking woman was able to play him as she did.
She looked up when she noticed his presence, and he snapped out of his thoughts.
"Is it true?" he asked her.
She stopped mixing the batter that was in her hand and set the bowl aside. She looked at him with confusion but a hint of something that told him she knew what he was asking.
"Answer me, Kiya. Is it true? Are you an undercover agent for the NBI?"
Her eyes widened in surprise, and that gave him his answer. She opened her mouth as though to say something, then she closed it. She opened it again, but before she could get anything out, Asher interrupted her.
"Is this all a lie, Akiyarah Thomas?" He said as he used her full real government name.
She looked to her feet, like a child that has just been caught stealing cookies, as she whispered, "I was going to tell you, Asher, I was going to come clean to you."
He laughed, a mocking one. "Oh, really?" he said. "When was that going to happen? When you find out I have nothing to do with my missing ex's or when exactly?"
She shook her head, and he shouted, "Answer me, Kiya or Akiyarah, whichever you answer to."
She looked up at him, and he could see a hint of fear in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, Asher," she said.
"That's not going to cut it, Kiya. Everything about us is a lie. Is that what you're telling me right now?"
"No, Asher, it started as a lie, but everything I feel for you is the truth. I love you, Asher; that's not a lie."
"Oh really, you can't blame me when I tell you I find that hard to believe," he said.
Then she looked at him with anger. 'You are one to talk," she shouted. "You claim to love me, yet you're cheating on me."
He was taken aback by what she just said, and he replied, "Now you're just adding to your lies. I love you, Kiya. I have never cheated on you."
"You're lying," she retorted. "I heard you. When we were in Thailand, I heard you and Suzan having sex."
"What?? Can you come off it and stop fabricating more lies to deviate from the real issue?" he said.
"I'm not lying, Asher; I heard when she was moaning and telling you, Faster, Asher, faster."
"Do you really want to push this, your agenda?" Asher said. He grabbed his phone and dialled Suzan's number, and she picked up almost immediately.
"Listen to me, Suzan, I need you to be honest right now, and you know you owe me that much. At what time did we have sex while we were in Thailand?"
"Uhmmm, what?" Suzan exclaimed over the phone. "We never did."
"Okay, Suzan, at what point did you moan and say Asher, faster," he asked.
Suzan went quiet on the phone, and after a while, she responded. "Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry you heard that; we didn't know anyone heard. It was just a mistake and a one-time thing. After we got into a fight, Abby had to leave, and Shawn came to comfort me. One thing led to another, and we had sex. It was while having sex with him your name slipped out."
