CHAPTER 108- ONLY ONE OF US GETS TO LIVE
Kiya got into work the following day. Yesterday night was beautiful, and she was still thinking about it. She, however, was a little anxious that she had to return back home today; she can't stay in Asher's place again because if the threat is from his mother, she obviously will not send anything threatening to her son's place.

The day moved pretty slowly; the coffee shop was mostly scanty, but Kiya absolutely didn't mind. She felt so tired and drained, probably from the stress of these past few days. She has still not told Amarah because if she did, she'd be going against her boss's order, but she missed her best friend so badly.

A teenage boy entered the coffee shop and walked straight to the counter to order an iced coffee. Just as he was about to take his seat, he handed an envelope to Kiya as he said, "A man outside gave me this to give you," he said, his eyes staring at the name tag on her chest. "I'm guessing you are Kiya, right?" the boy asked.

Kiya nodded, "Yeah, that's me. What guy, though?"

"He was just by the door; he was about to come in. He said he was a delivery guy, but he just got a phone call that his son was involved in an accident, so he asked me to help him complete the delivery so he could hurry to the hospital. Since it's just an envelope, I didn't see why not, so there you go," the teenage boy said.

"Okay, thank you," Kiya collected it. It was a sealed envelope, so she felt around for it to be sure nothing harmful was in it. It was just paper in it, from what she felt. She thought about opening it up right there, but then she figured if whoever it is that sent it is still lurking around, she won't give them the satisfaction of seeing her open it.

She texted her supervisor about the situation of things and went about her day as naturally as possible, ignoring the intense itch she had to tear open the letter and read its content.

She was glad when the close of work finally came. She headed home and was very careful, making sure she wasn't being followed by anyone that doesn't work for the agency. By the time she got home, something seemed off. Her couch looked like it had been sat in, and there was just something that seemed out of place.

She tiptoed around until she found herself in her kitchen. She grabbed her biggest knife and gently tiptoed around her house trying to find out who was in there. Then she heard a flush come from her visitor's toilet, and she went and stood by it, waiting for whoever it is to come out so she can attack.

Immediately the figure came out; she brought her hands down in an attempt to stab him, but he caught her hands midway to stop it. "Agent Kiya," he screamed, and she dropped the knife.

"I could have killed you, sir," she barked at him. It was her supervisor and he just chuckled.

He replied, "No, you couldn't have. I knew you had no idea I was waiting for you, so I'm on alert, and don't forget, I'm your supervisor. I have years of experience, so I know I can take care of myself," he said as he headed to the couch to sit.

"What are you doing here, sir?" Kiya asked , genuinely curious as to why he was there and why he didn't let her know he was coming.

"I'm here for protection," he said. "I don't know what the content of that letter is, but I'll be calmer knowing I'm here when you open it," he said.

"Okay," she said. She went and grabbed the letter from her bag, and she gently opened it. What caught her off guard was the paper it came in.

"Wow," she said.

"What? What is it?" her supervisor asked.

"It's Claudia Smith ," Kiya said.

"Really?" The supervisor asked, "Did she sign her name on it or something? Because if she did, then that's all we need."

"No , no, she didn't; it's something else," Kiya said. "When I went for dinner at her mansion, Asher gave me a tour of the place."

"Okayyyy," the supervisor said, edging her to continue.

"So, he brought me to a library that doubled as an office. It contained all these cute sticky notes on the table of like a to do list. Asher says his mum uses the place mostly."

"On the little to-do list, she had some things scribbled on it."

"And?" The supervisor asked, getting impatient and wanting to know where the story led.

"Well, this looks very much like her handwriting."

He groaned. "Agent Kiya, it looks like her handwriting isn't enough for us to arrest her. Who is to say two people's handwriting can't look alike?" he asked.

"That's not all," Kiya said.

"Okay, what else?" he asked. "Get to it, Agent Kiya; we don't have all day."

Kiya took out the letter and handed it to him. "Look at the kind of paper; can you see how velvety and beautiful it is? This is the exact material the sticky notes were made of. I remember admiring it because of how unique it is, and I bet there are not a lot of people who had papers that are like that, sir."

"Oh, wow, it truly is beautiful and unique," he said, "but that still doesn't give us much evidence against her. Anyways, let's just read the content."

Kiya gently took out the pin holding the folded paper together, making sure she didn't damage it, and then she finally opened it, and it read:

Let me tell you a secret, little girl.
Those girls that are now gone were intentional, no coincidence.
You look smart, so I trust you would do the right thing.
Disappear now before I make you disappear.

Then Kiya turned it over, and at the back of it, it read:

You know that saying, Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.
Well, now you know my secret, and only one of us gets to live.
Toodles.

Kiya froze; this is an open threat.

"I'm calling off this mission," her supervisor barked , interrupting all the thoughts that had now surrounded her mind.
