Chapter 66 Tables Turned
Chapter 66 Tables Turned
Luca's POV
“We can make this work together, Parker. While we were kids, we promised to always have each other's backs. Have you forgotten?” I had to refresh Parker's memory.
I figured that it would be enough to influence his decision and change whatever evil thoughts he must have harboured against me.
“I already made a mistake once. We can't afford to do the same thing," I put in more effort to calm Parker's nerves in the best way possible.
I know for certain that I am taking a huge risk, but I didn't care. The Parker I know will never hurt me.
He doesn't have the nerve to stab me with the dagger.
While we were kids, he was always the quiet type. And me? The most ruthless among my peers.
I've seen this happen before, over two decades ago, when Parker and I got into a huge fight in school.
While I hit him in the face, he walked out without retaliation. At that point, it dawned on me that Parker is the coolest person who has ever existed.
“Shut the heck up. Don't try to play the victim card on me. You should have thought about that when you shot me in the chest,” Parker silenced me.
“It was an accident, Parker. Don't you get it? How many times do I need to explain this before you understand that I never meant to hurt you?” I raised my voice at him.
It took me a while to realise that. I had to apologise to him when I realised that I was taking the wrong route, “I'm sorry. That shouldn't be coming out from me,”
I defended myself. “You know I have no grudge against you. You're my only surviving relative.”
“Enough with the gimmicks, Lucas!” He warned me to stop talking. “Now hand over your gun to me before I decide what to do with you,”
“Gun?” I scoffed. “What gun are you talking about?”
“I have no gun in my possession. Is the bullet wound causing me to hallucinate or what?” I lied to Parker.
I tried my best to maintain my composure to avoid getting suspicious.
Parker is too smart. It will take more than just my Brilliance to deceive him.
“You pathetic liar. I don't believe you,” he doubted me. “You're definitely hiding the gun you shot me with, and I'm going to find out. You have no idea who you're dealing with,”
I wasn't shocked that I failed in my quest to get my shit right. I already knew that Parker would be a hard nut to crack.
Regardless, I wanted to be sure if I'd be lucky to get away on this one.
“Stay calm while I search for you myself. I don't trust you any more.
You dare not move, else I'd be forced to pierce your ass with this dagger,” he warned me.
I freeze on the spot. I couldn't make a silly move, not when he had the dagger placed around my waistline.
I'd rather not be responsible for my death when I knew that it could have been averted.
Like a criminal caught red-handed, I raised both hands in the air to allow Parker to conduct his search on me
Patiently, I stayed calm to observe him. The moment I noticed that he was getting closer to pulling the gun away in my pocket, I spun around and snatched the dagger from him.
It was a calculated move that he never saw coming. In the process of snatching the dagger from him, I accidentally hurt myself, causing my arm to bleed.
“Ouch! That hurts!” I cried as I watched my blood from my wrist drop slowly on the ground.
I endured the pain to finish what I started with Parker. I wasn't going to let the bleeding palm become a stumbling block to my mission.
It's nothing compared to the pain I would have felt if Parker had stabbed me with the dagger. I probably won't have survived it either.
“Who's the boss now? Who has the last laugh now?” I mocked Parker with wicked laughter while still nursing my bleeding wrist. I try to stay strong but while I'm hurting inside of me.
“I'm sorry, Lucas. You won on this one.” He accepted defeat.
I never thought I'd ever witness Parker this calm. A while ago, he was acting as if he owned the world.
His humbling is proudly sponsored by my ability to outsmart him when he tried to pull the gun away from me. He had no idea that I had my plan.
“That was a prank. I was just testing your strength and patience,” Parker claimed.
He must think I'm a kid who can easily be lied to. I bet he wouldn't say that if he had succeeded with his plot against me.
“Is this the best excuse you can come up with? Damn you, Parker. Aren't you ashamed of yourself? I am not impressed. You can do better,” I snapped at him. I belittled and made him feel less of a human.
“I thought you were smarter than this? Perhaps, I was wrong about you. You're just a pathetic amateur who has refused to learn the basic rules of life,” I didn't stop mocking him. The plan is to instigate them into action.
The moment I knew Parker had lost it was when he said he knew I didn't intend to shoot him in the chest.
I laughed, “So in your fucking mind, you thought that was a mistake?”
He nodded like a lizard that had just fallen from a skyscraper. “Of course, Lucas. Brothers are meant to protect each other, right?”
The son of a bitch must think we are reading from the same script.
He'd be shocked to find out what I intend to do with him.
“Go down on your fucking knees now,” I ordered him.
“I'm not even joking. I got the gun and dagger. What did you get? Nothing!”
He hesitated, “What the heck are you doing? Please, it shouldn't get worse.”
“Obey the damn instructions and stop asking silly questions,” I yelled at him in a loud voice.
I had to bring myself to order when I recalled that Amira was still in the warehouse.
I wouldn't want her to find out what's happening outside.
After the hesitation, Parker finally obeyed my instructions.
The pleading didn't stop.
I could practically see his eyeballs pulling out.
I didn't pity him. No, I didn't. His tears meant nothing to me.
If he were in my position, he wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger to my forehead.
