Chapter 154 Fuck my life
Chapter 154 Fuck my life
Aurora's POV
I lay in bed, Eva's words echoing in my mind, a constant reminder of her growing weakness and our extraordinary bond with Caden.
The weight of the revelation pressed heavily on my chest, making it hard to breathe. My thoughts churned, a whirlwind of emotions—fear, anger, confusion, and an unexpected tenderness toward Caden.
Just as I was sinking deeper into my turmoil, I heard sounds from the front door. My heightened senses, a gift of my new lycan form, picked up the faint murmur of voices. I focused, honing in on the conversation outside.
"...I'm here to see Little—Aurora," Caden's voice, strong and steady, reached my ears.
"Why? Why are you going to see her?" Lucas's voice was sharp, filled with incredulity and barely contained rage.
"It's complicated, Lucas. Aurora and I... we're together. We are mates." He sounded so confident and determined.
The confession made my heart skip a beat. Despite everything, Caden was willing to face his son and declare his intentions openly. I felt warmth spread through me, melting the remnants of my resolve. But then, Lucas's voice cut through the tender moment like a knife.
"What? No, that's not possible. She told me you two were together, but I didn't believe her. You would never move on from Mom. Flora was everything to you."
Their exchange continued, each word revealing the depth of Caden's feelings and the struggle Lucas faced in accepting the truth. When Caden spoke of the bond we shared, of how I was his true mate, a tear slipped down my cheek. His words were filled with a sincerity that touched the deepest parts of my soul.
But then Lucas's response turned my blood cold. "Aurora is my best friend. She was everything to me before all of this. And I don't know how or why you two ended up together, but if you hurt her... if you make her suffer in any way, I will hunt you down."
I clenched my fists, anger bubbling up within me. Who did he think he was? After rejecting me, after making my wolf weak, how dare he claim any sort of ownership over me?
"I will give her up," Lucas continued, his voice hardening. "Because I see that you've already planted your seed and she's carrying what's yours. But one wrong move, Dad, just one, and I will be back. I will claim her like I should have in the first place."
His words were a slap in the face, igniting a fire within me. How dare he speak of claiming me after everything he'd done? He had no right, not after rejecting me and leaving me to suffer.
I felt Eva stir within me, her anger mirroring my own. "Who does he think he is?" she growled. "After everything, he still thinks he can dictate our life?"
I took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm raging inside me. The conversation outside had ended, and I heard Lucas storm off. Caden stood there for a moment longer before knocking gently on my door.
With a surge of determination, I got out of bed and walked toward the door. As I opened it, Caden stood there, a bouquet of lilies in his hands, his eyes filled with a mixture of hope and apprehension.
"Little fox," he began, but I held up a hand to stop him.
"I heard everything," I said, my voice steady but laced with the anger I felt toward Lucas. "And I want you to know, Caden, that I choose you. Lucas has no claim over me. He lost that right when he rejected me and weakened Eva."
Caden's eyes widened in shock. "Rejected you?" he repeated, disbelief etched across his features. "Lucas was your first mate?"
I nodded, the bitterness of the past welling up inside me. "Yes, he was. No one knows but him and me. He rejected me because he thought I was weak and didn't have a wolf. I left Brown Wood because of that. And now, now that I've shifted into a lycan, he wants to crawl back."
Caden's shock quickly morphed into anger. His jaw tightened, and his eyes darkened with fury. "My own son did this to you?" he growled, his voice trembling with rage. "He rejected you because he thought you were weak?"
"Yes," I confirmed, feeling a mix of relief and sadness at finally revealing the truth. "Eva and I have suffered because of it. And now, seeing my strength, he thinks he can just come back and claim me."
Caden stepped closer, his expression softening as he reached out, then paused, respecting my space. He looked at me as if asking permission to be near me like that.
"I am so sorry, little fox. I had no idea. But I promise you this: I will take care of Lucas. I will make sure he doesn't disturb you again. You deserve peace and respect, and I will ensure you get it."
His words were like a balm to my wounded heart. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding, grateful for his support and determination. "Thank you, Caden," I whispered, feeling a sense of safety and reassurance in his presence.
He gave me a gentle smile, his strength and warmth radiating from him without any need for touch. "You're my mate, little fox," he said softly. "And I will protect you with everything I have. Lucas will not trouble you again."
As I stood there with him, the weight of the past seemed to lift slightly, replaced by the promise of a future where I was valued and cherished. With Caden by my side, I felt ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing I was no longer alone in this battle.
I cared for him. Deeply. And for the first time, I didn't want to run from it.
