POV Sage Winters

Drake's fury filled the hospital room like a physical force, making the air feel thick and oppressive. I watched him advance on Celeste, his face a mask of rage that I'd never seen before.

"A murderer!" Edwin's voice cracked with outrage as he stepped forward, his finger pointing at Celeste like an accusation made flesh. "She should be thrown in prison immediately!"

Jason's hands trembled slightly as he pressed them against his sides. "No wonder Alpha specifically instructed me to dispose of that fruit basket that night. He must have suspected something."

Caius let out a dark laugh that held no humor whatsoever. "It seems certain people's ambitions run deeper than any of us imagined."

I felt Thorne's hand find mine, his fingers threading through my own. The gesture grounded me, reminded me that I wasn't alone in this anymore. His presence beside me was solid, unwavering, even as everything else spiraled into chaos.

Celeste's back pressed harder against the wall. Her eyes darted around the room, searching desperately for an ally, for any escape route from the accusations closing in on her from all sides. "I... I didn't know there was grapefruit in that fruit basket. I had the servants prepare it for me."

Her voice took on that familiar wounded tone, the one she'd used so many times to manipulate situations in her favor. "It must have been a coincidence! How was I supposed to know what they put in there?"

The audacity of it made anger flare hot in my chest. "How convenient. Blame the servants for your attempted murder."

"This is slander!" Celeste's voice rose, taking on an edge of hysteria that might have been convincing if I hadn't seen through her so many times before. "I never wanted to harm Marcus! How dare you accuse me of something so horrible!"

I stepped forward, my voice cutting through her protests with deliberate calm. Each word was chosen carefully, precisely, like a scalpel making an incision. "Let me walk everyone through the timeline of events."

The room fell silent. Even Drake's heavy breathing quieted as all attention focused on me.

"First, you sent Marcus a fruit basket containing grapefruit, knowing full well about his heart condition and medication. You're a medical student, Celeste. You've been trained in pharmacology. You know exactly what grapefruit does to heart medication metabolism. You were trying to create what would look like a natural death."

I paused, letting that sink in before continuing. "But I identified the threat and had it removed. So you failed."

Celeste opened her mouth to protest, but I didn't give her the chance.

"Then you shifted your target to Lyanna. You exploited Elena's access to the pharmacy. You used her trust in you, waited until after her shift had ended, and you tampered with Lyanna's medication. You added ginkgo biloba to her anticoagulant prescription, knowing it would cause a fatal interaction."

My voice remained steady, clinical even, as I laid out her crimes. "You thought you could make it look like medical negligence. Pin it on Elena, on the hospital, on anyone except yourself."

"I... I didn't..." Celeste's voice came out as a whisper now, all the bravado stripped away.

"You're a medical student," I repeated, my eyes boring into hers. "You know what ginkgo biloba does. You know how it interacts with anticoagulants. You know it causes excessive bleeding, potentially fatal hemorrhaging. This wasn't ignorance, Celeste. This was premeditated attempted murder. Twice."

Edwin's voice shook with disgust. "If this is true... Celeste, you're a monster."

Drake's hands clenched into fists at his sides. His voice emerged low and deadly. "Attempted murder of family elders. That's a capital offense in Pack law. You evil, twisted woman."

Caius crossed his arms, his expression carved from ice. "Two counts of attempted murder. One against Marcus, one against Lyanna. The evidence is damning."

Jason pulled out his phone with trembling hands. "We need to call the police. These are serious criminal charges."

Elena's voice cracked as she spoke, tears still streaming down her face. "I told you all! It was her! She used me to frame Sage! She manipulated me into being her weapon!"

Celeste's gaze swept around the room, taking in the accusing stares, the disgust and anger written on every face. I could see the moment she realized there was no way out of this, no clever lie that would save her now. Her carefully constructed house of cards had collapsed entirely.

Throughout all of this, Vivienne had remained silent. She stood frozen near the door, her face pale as death, her eyes fixed on Celeste with an expression I couldn't quite read. Shock, certainly. But there was something deeper there too. Something that looked almost like grief.

I watched her hands tremble at her sides, watched her throat work as she swallowed hard. She'd been Celeste's closest ally, her most devoted friend. And now she was learning that every word, every confidence, every moment of their friendship had been built on manipulation and lies.

"Celeste..." Vivienne's voice emerged so quietly I almost missed it. "Is this... is all of this really true?"

Celeste immediately turned toward her, desperation naked on her face now. She reached out with both hands, her fingers grasping at Vivienne like a drowning person reaching for a lifeline. "Vivienne, you have to believe me. We're friends. You know me better than this..."

But I saw the moment something shifted in Vivienne's expression. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and when she spoke again, her voice was harder. "But... those things you told me about Sage. You lied to me about all of that."

"I just... I just told you what I saw." Celeste's voice took on that pleading quality again. "I didn't think it would turn out like this. You have to understand—"

"Understand what?" I interrupted, my voice sharp. "Understand how you manipulated Vivienne into being your weapon against me? How you fed her lies and twisted her perception until she became another tool in your schemes?"

I turned to address Vivienne directly, watching her face carefully. "Celeste is a medical student. She's received professional training. She knows exactly what grapefruit and ginkgo biloba do. She tried to murder Marcus, and when that failed, she moved on to Lyanna. And you, Vivienne—you've been her instrument this entire time. She used your anger, your jealousy, your insecurities. She weaponized you against me."

Vivienne's face went from pale to ashen. I saw the exact moment the full weight of my words hit her, saw the memory flash across her features—the argument with Marcus, the shouting match that had escalated until his face went red and his hand clutched at his chest.

"Oh god," she whispered, her hand flying to her mouth. "The argument... I argued with Grandpa Marcus. I made him so angry. His heart..."

Her eyes went wide with horror as the pieces fell into place. "You... you set that up. You told me all those things about Sage, got me so worked up that I confronted him. You knew he had a heart condition. You knew..."

"Vivienne, that's not—" Celeste started, but Vivienne cut her off.

"You used me." Her voice cracked, tears beginning to stream down her face. "You turned me into a weapon. You made me fight with my own grandfather, knowing it could kill him. You were trying to murder him through me."

The grief in her voice was raw and terrible. "I could have killed him. I almost killed him because of you."

Celeste reached for her again, panic clear in every movement. "Vivienne, please, you don't understand—"

The slap echoed through the hospital room like a gunshot.
