Chapter 89 89
Alexa moved backwards to see the completed designs and she bit her lips, photographing it funnily with her hands.
"How does it look?" She asked.
"Perfect. You are always the best, Ms Chapman." Doreen gave her a thumbs up.
"Other countries won't see this coming." She shook her head staring at the clothes passionately.
"Yeah." Alexa clapped her hands and turned to Doreen, taking the measurement tape away from her neck, "It took me longer enough to ask but Doreen, how did you get Adele's wedding dress?" She asked and Doreen bit her lips.
"Spill." Alexa ordered.
"Well, we didn't have enough time to get a new one and fortunately, Blue was working on a project. He created it."
"I knew they were just from gifted hands. When it was reading Velvet Vixen, I was shocked not remembering any design like that." She said.
"Give the credit to Blue. It would be nice if he wanted to start his own business."
"But it would be competitive with yours." Doreen said and Alexa smiled as she fixed the hand of the clothes.
"You think so?" She chuckled and shrugged, "Well, life is always'bout competition, ain't it?" She said comically and Doreen laughed out, dipping her hand into her pocket to get her ringing phone.
"Eugene is a good guy." Alexa muttered absentmindedly and Doreen's phone almost fell from her hand.
"How did you...."
"It's obvious. You guys eat at the cafe right opposite us. I could practically see it. How does Eugene manage to eat lunch there everyday? The office is so faraway from here." Alexa muttered, shaking her head as she stared at the cafeteria, "Wow. " She muttered endlessly, her fingers underneath her chin.
"Well, he isn't coming today." Doreen said and let out a heave as she read his message. He has a meeting to go with Liam.
"Don't you think Mr Jordans overwork his employees?" Doreen asked and Alexa turned, her brows furrowed together.
"Do you think I overwork you too?" Alexa asked and Doreen blinked, pretending.
"What? Of course not. You have a meeting in the next ten minutes with the bride and the groom."
"Who?" Alexa asked shockingly, "Aren't we going to meet the bride's father?" She asked.
"Well, the oldsters decided to leave it for the youngsters." Doreen shrugged.
"I definitely see where that is coming from. They should have the right to choose their own designs." She said and removed the tape, adjusting her dress.
"We should be done with everything in two weeks, right?" Alexa muttered as Doreen helped her.
"I guess." She said.
"Don't accept any project for now. I'll like to take a week's break." Alexa said.
"Didn't you say a month?" Doreen asked and Alexa made a baby face.
"My business would suffer. I better cut it short. On that note, " She flipped a paper backwards to Doreen.
"What's this?" Doreen asked as she collected it, "Two seats?" She muttered.
"Do you want to go to Hawaii?" Alexa asked. Doreen blinked in shock.
"Bring one more person. It could be Eugene, yunno." She whined and picked her bag, walking out of the office. Doreen gasped in shock.
"Thank you so much, boss!!! You are the best!!!" She screamed out in excitement.
"Yes!!!!"
Alexa waved when the couple got in through the door. The man spoke to the lady in quiet tones and she immediately walked away with her bag.
Restroom maybe?
Alexa shrugged lightly.
The man walked to her with a smile and she stood up to get the handshake. He looked young....and handsome too. She had a big catch, the lady.
"Luca Lombardo." He introduced himself.
"Alexandra Chapman." She said as she took her seat.
"You look more beautiful in person than on TV. I follow your lifestyle, you know?" He smiled at her, his dentition showing.
"Well, what the news get." She shrugged.
Luca smiled again as he tapped the table rhythmically, his eyes fixed on her. The opening of the door made light flash on her eyes but she didn't look. She stared right back at Luca.
"Coffee?" He suddenly asked, "with milk. You know, Samantha doesn't take ordinary coffee."
"I don't like it either." Alexandra said and he smirked, raising his hand to call the waiter. Alexa made a mental note in her head, the man was totally weird. What was his case?
"Was taking Mrs Samantha so long?" She asked.
"Ah, she had to change her.... stuff. Ladies thing." He said.
"Oh." Alexa said.
"Mr Luca, can we just talk about the...."
"You know," He interrupted her, "The Lombardos are a long line of prosecutors. Like my father, his father, his father's father and the one..."
"I get it. Your whole family." She said. He nodded.
"Including me. So if you don't do the job right, it could make everything wrong. I could find faults in Velvet Vixen."
Oh, so this was where this attitude was going.
Alexa scoffed lightly, folding her hands, "If you didn't trust us, why choose us?"
"People say you are the best." The coffee was placed for them as he made the statement.
"So you work based on... people's opinions and all that? Not trust? Mr Prosecutor, I think you work very strange." She said.
"I don't trust you because you have never worked for us before. But if you do a good job this time around, you'll be our trusted designer." He said.
Alexa leaned forward, interlocking her hand on the table "Get me your design and I'll work with that."
He also leaned forward, shocking her, "And if you don't do it well? You accept that your brand would be destroyed?" He asked.
Alexandra blinked, this man was high in the head. What was his shit?
She suddenly fell a strong hand grab her wrist and pull her up. She was shocked,
"I've gotten enough watching you flirt with my woman." The baritone voice said, shocking her more.
"What are you doing, Liam?" She asked.
"Taking you out of this place." He said seriously and started pulling out.
