Chapter 75 75
"Thank you so much. Thank you." Grace cleaned her tears of joy and Alexa smiled.
"I'll have to take my leave now. Doreen would discuss everything with you tomorrow."
"Actually," Grace stood up with her and looked at them both, "I'll like to go to court over this matter. She was the one who framed you for the incident. Why then can't she take the blame? Besides, she fired me unjustly." She added.
"And she also took the money meant for bribe." Alexa glanced at Doreen.
"I'll call you when it is time." She held Grace's hands admirably.
Few minutes later, Alexa walked out of the house, Doreen accompanying her.
"I didn't expect that Grace would want to fight." Doreen said.
"Me neither." Alexa replied, "but it gets to a point where you get tired of it all and you just want to get over it, whether you win or not, you'll want to trample on those who trampled on you."
"Are you at that point?" Doreen asked carefully and Alexa smirked.
"Yes. I'll like to teach a lot of people lessons and they better prepare cause they won't see it coming." She smirked wider. Her phone vibrated with a messaged and a triumphant look seemed to appear mixed with anger.
"Drop me at the nearest bakery." She said and Doreen nodded, "Yes ma." She stared the car and zoomed off.
It was getting late into the night and she hit her leg patiently as she ate bread. She want to get doughnuts for the kids but she was eating bread after getting them. They were just so good.
Liam had called her but he wasn't here yet and that was making her angry, except that she couldn't. Cos the bread held it down.
The door opened and Liam walked in majestically like she hadn't just been waiting for him. If she hadn't forgave him, it'll be the other way round.
"I'm sorry I'm late." He apologized.
"Well, I have just five minutes more." She said, staring at the watch on her wrist as she kept on eating without bothering about him.
Liam stared at the bread she was eating and then her lips. Her lipgloss made some of the crumbs stick to her lips. He stretched out his hand to remove it but before he could touch her, she hit his hand away hardly.
"Just get me a napkin! How dare you touch me?" She glared at him, huffing loudly as she picked up a napkin and tidied herself.
Liam pursed his lips, letting out a sigh as he dropped a shopping bag in front of her.
"What's this? Oh....you went shopping with Adele and saw something that would look good on me, so you threw it in?" She asked.
He couldn't believe his ears, "Wh-what?"
"Stuttering now." She clapped her hands together, pushing the bag back to him, "Thanks, but I have more than enough money for my own wears, besides I create them."
"It was the joggers you created for the last edition. I know you haven't created a new one yet and the kids wanted to wear matching clothes. I picked for all of us. It was just a coincidence to meet Adele there and it was the best place to get information from her." Liam explained.
Alex chuckled, placing her fingers underneath her chin as she blinked slowly, "I didn't ask. Why are you explaining yourself?"
"You seem angry that I met with Adele." He pinched the middle of his brows.
"Angry? Me? Of course not." She waved her hand, relaxing back on her chair, "We signed a divorce paper...even if you didn't submit it." She smirked.
"I would never follow another woman except you. Besides, Adele's family and ours have been friends since like forever." He said.
"Oh, and I didn't know that friend after being with you for three years?" She asked.
"That's because they were out of the country." He said in frustration.
"Excuses after excuses. And I didn't even ask."
"Adele is engaged and to be married in two weeks." Liam replied and she blinked, trying so hard to remove the shock from her face.
She nodded her head, "That's right. She's beautiful and powerful. It's better she gets married early before someone would take advantage of her." She resumed with eating her bread.
"So would you take the clothes now? The kids want this."
"Why would I wear matching outfits with you!? It's abnormal." She snapped.
"It's their birthday. Aren't we obligated to do whatever they want even if it is for that day?" He asked.
"Don't use the kids to hide your hidden desires." She muttered and he went quiet, releasing a deep sigh.
"Adele found out something." He said instead, knowing the battle was far to be won as long as Alexa is involved.
Alexa became attentive, dropping her bed and staring at him expectantly. He figured that was the only way to get her attention.
"What is it?" She asked when she saw he was staring at her intently. He didn't move his eyes not even for a second till the papers got to her hand.
"His paper company is somewhere in Zambia. If we can get proofs of Helix and Co's money going to that route, then that's everything we need. In this documents, there are also proofs of bribery and corruption leading to some deals with Helix and Co should never have gotten. Practically saying, all of their game and wealth were built on lobbying greater people. Bribery, Corruption, covering of crimes with large sums of money. It's a lot but among all these crimes, one that could bring about the total downfall of Ryder is the proof of the paper company and it is somewhere in Helix and Co." Liam said.
Alexa gulped down the hardness in her throat as she stared at the files, reading them attentively, it was a lot to take in. To think she had almost fallen for the man if he was just cool for a little longer. He had been the one to play her dirty anyway and she was ready to take him down.
"Grace agreed to speak in court. She knows one or two and she's ready to say it. That should shake SH Apparels a little bit."
Liam went quiet for a while before talking, "It was Sam, Stella's brother."
"What?"
Liam swiped through his phone, stopping at a particular picture, "He was into drugs days in the past and he had a heart for most dark things. He was the one who had sent the threatening paper. It's safe to say he had eyes on you for a whole year. It took me so long to find him but just some days for Adele." He said
"I never knew Stella had a brother. Especially one who could do such. It seems to me all their families are totally manipulative."
"He was trying to help his sister."
"Are you saying that is enough reason for anyone to threaten someone's else life?" She narrowed her brows.
"Of course not. I'm simply saying Stella should pay for all the mess she'd cause. I'll make her do that painfully." He swore.
