Chapter 71 71
Alexandra glanced at the time on her watch, it was time to pick her kids. She looked behind her and Ryder was no where to be seen. Maybe he'd gone out to take a smile after being unable to work for more than six hours of her screams and distractions.
She walked out of the office, only to hear some murmuring in the adjoining room,
"Nothing would go wrong. Just make sure all documents of the paper company are hidden properly. No one.... absolutely no one must find them." The call ended and the smell of cigarette got into Alexa's nose.
She covered her mouth with her hand before she could sneeze and he caught her. When he turned, she quickly moved backwards to her office door, three steps and then she let out the sneeze
"Who the hll is smoking in-" Her head hit his chest and she raised her head, feigning ignorance, "Are you blind? Didn't you see me coming out?" She missed arrogantly.
Ryder narrowed his eyes at her, a small smirk on his face. Alexa bit her inner lips slowly, he hadn't seen her, had he? She thought.
"You smoke?" She asked, breaking the awkward silence.
"Hmm." He grunted a response.
"We see new sides of you no one thought existed. Mr Welland, you should stop pretending now. Show us all of your bad characteristics. Don't get us surprised later." She said and pushed him out of her slightly z before walking off.
She stopped to pick her phone from her bag, "Hey."
Ryder stared at her as she gave him a cocky smile when she got into the elevator.
Was she smart? Or was she stupid? He had ended the call because he had seen her hair dissappear through the glass but he wasn't sure she heard him speak. He would know depending on how she moved.
Alexa licked her lips as her fake call ended and the real one came in, Liam.
"Do you want to have lunch with me?" He asked and she furrowed her brows.
"What is this?" She asked, frowning.
"Just because I forgave you, Mr Jordans, doesn't mean you can have me back."
"Aren't we friends for now? If you forgave me, doesn't that mean we are friends, at least?" He asked.
"I have a lot on my table than to think about friendship and whatnot." She sighed, stepping out of the elevator as soon as it opened. Her workers bowed in greetings and she waved as she got out of the company.
"Where are you?" Liam asked.
"Out of the company. I'm about to go pick the kids."
"They are with me in the car." Liam said.
"So that's why you wanted us to have lunch together?" She asked.
"As a family, yes. But I also have something to tell you."
"Are you going to ask me to be your girlfriend? Thanks but no." She said, getting into her car. It was fixed already, thanks to Doreen. She was literally the best. Kisses, girl.
Liam didn't say a word for more than a minute. Was he broken?
"That's not it. I just have some findings." He said calmly.
"Send me the location, Mr Jordans." She said nonchalantly, driving out of the company.
"Alright, by the way, Alexa, why are you at the company?"
"You don't expect me to leave my office and company in the hands of a fraudster, do you? I could lose everything I worked.."
"I can't be worried about your company the way I'm worried about you, Alexa."
"Keep your worries to yourself. He can't do shit. I'm going to be fine. Thanks, Mr Jordans." She ended the call.
Liam sighed slowly, What the hell was Mr Jordans? Even when she hated him and was head to head against him, she still called him Liam. It was something he loved about her, the way she called his name smoothly with a perfectly angelic voice.
"Did Mom agree to lunch?" Jade, the masterminder behind all of these asked.
"Yes, mommy did." Liam smiled, staring at kids take ice cream behind him.
"Yay!" Jade jumped in excitement and Jace chuckled lightly.
Alexa drove into the car park first and Liam did next. The children jumped out of the car rushing towards her.
"Mommy!" She caught Jade in her arms, spinning her around while she ruffled Jace's hair.
"Mom, stop!" He frowned, "You don't know how much effort it took for my hair to be this perfect."
"Perfect? How much effort? Don't lie, Jace. Daisy did this..." Jade picked a strand and scattered it, "...for you at school." She brought out her tongue, waving it at him.
"You really like Daisy a lot, don't you?" Alexa asked Jace.
"She's nice, unlike Alice."
"Alice and the kids don't get along." She said nonchalantly, but gave Liam a glance, "Alice is your niece." She rolled her eyes.
"They'll get along soon, Alice is just on edge because her dad is out of the country." Liam replied.
"Does he still hates you?" Alexa asked as they walked into the restaurant.
"He does." Liam replied.
The few people in the restaurant couldn't get over the family.
"Such cute kids and parents."
"The kids really look a lot like their parents."
"I guess I'm still that handsome." Liam muttered quietly and Alexa scoffed lightly, "You wish."
They took a seat in the quietest place in the restaurant and ordered all the things they could for lunch.
The kids started eating and Alexandra cleared her throat.
"Ryder has a paper company."
"How did you know?" Liam asked. It was exactly the same thing he wanted to tell her.
"I caught him talking about it on the call today. But I think he saw me, cos he stared at me really suspiciously."
"The paper company is joint." Liam announced.
"With who?"
"SH Apparels. I think Stella works with the finance team. She has a mole there who helps her in these crazy things."
"Isn't that illegal? It's government money." Alexa snapped.
"It is illegal. But we need proof."
"Does everyone of this companies have paper company's?" Alexa asked.
"Hmm. Most. It's a way of embezzlement." Liam said.
"How come I didn't know about this? I would have been the richest unnamed lady in the world right now." She shook her head thoughtfully.
Liam placed his hand over her mouth, "You shouldn't say that in front of the kids. Paper companies are illegal." He said.
She slapped his hand off from her mouth, "My lipstick." She hissed in annoyance and he laughed, staring at her as she ate.
"She's eating right now with Mr Jordans and their two kids. They seem to be close. Has she forgiven him yet?"
"He has done a lot of things to earn her forgiveness. He even got into an earthquake to help her. He helped her out of prison, protected her when the public dragged her. What's worse, he had always loved her. Of course, she would forgive him." Ryder hissed.
"What should I do?"
"We need to break them apart and I need it to he swift. I don't want her kids so she can leave them with Liam. All I want is Alexa. Keep on watching her." He ordered.
"Yes, boss."
