Chapter 66 66
Her heels resounded as she walked into the bubbling hall and everyone turned as she got in, Doreen behind her. The girl had bags under her eyes which make-up had failed to cover while Alexa had feiry red lipstick on, something that warned everyone possible to stay clear of her. It was a warning, especially to the guy who came forward to check up on her in front of the press.
“Alexandra…” he called softly as he pulled her into a tight hug, “I'm so sorry for what happened last night.”
Alexandra smiled, softly as she hugged him tight, “Ryder, get your fvcking hands away from me.” She muttered in his eyes and he smiled, moving backwards politely.
“I wanted to help her company from going under. Shares were plummeting, so I thought it would be wise to put it under my company and stabilize it.” He said and Alexandra smiled.
“You thought you were doing a wonderful job, weren't you?” She asked, knowing the press was getting all of their conversations. Ryder nodded with a cocky smile and she gave him a tight lipped one as she hit his shoulders in a pat and walked up the podium.
“Good morning, people of New York City. It's Alexandra Chapman. The lady with the best news of all time. Every since I came back here, it's been one chaotic movement after another and then another, isn't it? Number one, I started my brand with a no face show until after five years where it had gotten to the point it is now. But someone somewhere decided to turn those things around for bad because of love. I won't disclose much right now as I really have nothing to say until I AND MY COMPANY MEMBERS come to a collective decision. As for that, whatever voting Mr Welland got was definitely in disfavor of me as I was in the prison then. An original person would call it null and void, isn't it?” She glanced at him and he smirked, rocking himself back and forth on his feet.
“Helix and Co. And Velvet Vixen are two entire companies owned by two different people. No one can come and get shares manipulatively and expect to win my company. I did not shed my tears, blood and sweat for that purpose. I won't let them rip me off.” She smirked widely.
“So watch as the show unfolds carefully. I, Alexandra Chapman isn't going down anytime soon.” She said and was about to leave when she suddenly remembered something, “By the way, I would need public pity to win support.” The press all laughed and she smiled.
“So I'd like to let you know that I was put in prison few days before my kids birthday. Pathetic, isn't?” The press shook their head and Alexandra looked at Ryder with a smile, “The person who did this has no respect for little kids like mine.”
With that, Alexandra walked down the podium, a triumphant smile on her face as she left. Doreen chuckled when she got to her and immediately accompanied her out.
The elevator door opened and Alexa walked out of the place, going directly to the office on the highest floor. Her office.
She looked around the place as she walked in. All their files had been returned earlier this morning when there was no traces of whatever cases was mentioned and it was revealed that the smuggling of the goods was a set up by a third party. It was all Liam, she knew. He was the one who helped her get out of the problem.
Her hands traced the glass nameplate and she scoffed lightly when it read CEO, Ryder Welland. She picked it up and swiftly hit it on the ground, the plate shattering into pieces.
“Who does he think he is?” She scoffed loudly as she placed her hands on her hips, taking in a deep breath.
“I'm to blame did trusting him.” She muttered.
“No, you didn't want to accept those jobs in the first place. Also, when he bought the first share, you felt something. I was the one convincing you otherwise.” Doreen said apologetically, her head moving downwards.
“Was that why you didn't sleep?” Alexa asked.
“I was awake trying to get proof of the smuggling.” She confessed.
“And what did you find?” Alexandra asked.
“This.” Doreen passed her the tablet, swiping across the woman whose face they couldn't clearly see but she looked a lot like someone really familiar.
“I have sent it to the visual team and soon, they'd get her face. After checking properly, she was the one who tipped them to change the container and fix smuggled goods in.” Doreen said and Alexandra nodded calmly, her fingers playing drum on her table.
She pressed her lips tightly together, “If they don't agree for me to be back, what can we do?”
“I don't know. We would have talked about shared rights with Mr Jordans if you were still married with him. For example, Velvet Vixen and Glamours Holdings' merging together but still viewed as a separate company. It happens but unfortunately, you guys sr separated.” Doreen shook her head and Alexa's hand stopped drumming on the table as she looked at Doreen.
“Liam..” she muttered slowly with a sigh.
Then her face hardened, “They must be thinking we are sulking right now.” She suddenly said and Doreen blinked.
“What party can we go to have fun?” She asked.
“It's not advisable to drink right now.” Doreen shook her head slowly.
Alexa smirked, “we aren't going to drink. We are going to feel and make others look like they are really below us.” she said, “isn't there a party?” She asked.
“Actually, there is one. They sent us an invite but I thought you won't be opportuned to go."
"A lot of people are coming, including SH Apparels, Glamour Holdings and Helix and Co."
"The show is for the big guys. We can't miss it." She smirked.
