Chapter 52 Fifty two
Liam did the last button on his suit and stretched his hand for the mic which was to be attached to his cloth.
Eugene with a last look had no idea of that as he stared at the window for a relatively long period.
Liam hit his head lightly, "What is wrong with you?" He asked.
"How can you not be anxious? Everything in me is panicking right now." He came back to himself.
"If you are nervous, then just keep talking. I won't listen to you though but it's better than being silent and I think you are dead." Liam said and walked out of the office, Eugene trailing behind him. The time was 9:10 right now and he was sure the reporters were already available. Their noise resounded from the last floor and Liam scoffed lightly. The reporters tend to be the only set of people who took others businesses well than theirs.
He did the hand button of his suit as he got into the elevator, only for him to get out and walk right into his parents.
"What are you guys doing here?" He asked, glancing between the both of them.
"Why can't we be here? Do you see the crisis that Glamour Holdings is facing?!"
"Dad, I'm not a kid. It's high time you stopped interfering in my business." He shot.
"Or else what?" Miller asked.
"Or else nothing, cos I'm going to fix it." Liam walked past them and got into the large conference room.
Alexandra took a deep breath as she turned the TV on again. She just couldn't control the urge to watch whatever was going to happen in the conference.
A stab of pain was in her heart. She had thought she'd be excited after destroying him but it seemed opposite. Her palms were sweaty because she was nervous, anxious of if the public would accept him the way he was, with his mistakes. But another part of her wanted to know if he could fix it, if he could himself.
"Good morning to you all. I am Liam Jordans." Cameras flashed even in the TV, meaning about hundred reporters were right there and he had to face them all. She locked her fingers together, her heart racing fast.
He could deny it. He could deny it and say she was just doing this to cause commotion in his space. That she was just doing this to catch attention. It was the simplest answer, the simplest thing to say to clear the air.
"Concerning the recent controversy, I apologize to everyone. I actually have nothing to say because all that Alexandra said on the news was true. I was dating Stella and she had travelled abroad for a long time cutting all contacts with me. Alexandra helped me get out of my infatuation with Stella and took me out of the mess I had become. But after three years of our marriage, I had run back into Stella's arms foolishly. I am truly sorry." He gave a slight bow.
"Can we ask questions?" One of the reporters asked and Liam nodded slowly.
"Of course, I would like to take your questions." He replied.
"Alexandra Chapman or Stella Hills?"
"We have nothing with each other now. But I would like to declare my interest in continuing a relationship with Alexandra, that is if she agreed to it." He replied bluntly.
"What does this mean? From Stella to Alexandra and back?" One of them smirked and the others laughed.
"Call it whatever you might but my past doesn't affect me anymore, I'll only look into the future." He replied.
"Will Alexandra take you back?" Another asked.
"It's her choice. I can't force her to choose me."
"What would happen to your kids?"
"Of course, I would take care of them till eternity comes. Just like my parents did to me, they'll take over all I own and I'll take care of them like a father should."
"Is there anything reason why you divorced Alexandra? You couldn't run back into your fiancee's arms just like that after what she did to you."
"There is another reason." Liam said calmly, "But that is for only Alexandra to find out."
Alexandra. She blinked. She hadn't taken notice of it before. But her name particularly sounded smooth in when it rolled out of his lips. Alexandra.
"What exactly is this other secret that you have kept for five to eight years now? What exactly made you divorce Ms Chapman?" The reporters waited for his answer but just like Liam had said only her would find her, he didn't give a response. What exactly could it be?
The door to her ward opened and she smiled when she saw Ryder, "Where do you want to go?" He gave her a wide smile and she tilted her head, "Anywhere out of here." She muttered.
Few minutes later, Alexandra stepped into the large mansion, the lights really bright as it was turned on.
"It's almost ten am. Had breakfast yet?"
"Do you want to cook?" She scoffed.
"I can cook whatever you want. Just so you know, my mom was a chef." He smirked proudly in reply.
"You have a lot of pride, Ryder." She chuckled as she took her seat, "Your house is beautiful." She commented taking a deep breath.
"But not complete." Ryder glanced at her.
"What's missing?" She asked.
"You." He murmured and she scoffed lightly.
"You are kidding."
"I'm not. Alexandra..."He moved closer to her, "I know I said I would wait for you but I'm getting anxious. What if you get back with Liam? What if he could win you over again knowing you in the past?" He asked, his fingers going to her hands.
"Please....just give me all of you. I want to be the first person you run to when you are in danger and all that." He said, tightening his fingers on hers.
Alexandra felt her heartbeat rush faster, pounding into her ears that she almost didn't hear his words clearly.
"Alexandra..." He muttered, coming unreasonably close to her. Into her space. Into her protected space.
"Liam can't get me as easily. I've changed." She muttered, unable to control her raving heart. He was coming to kiss her.
"Maybe." He muttered as his lips neared hers and just as he was about to kiss her, Alexandra suddenly pulled away, getting up.
"I'm... I'm sorry but this.... isn't right." She muttered.
"Why? You aren't tied to anyone, are you?" Ryder's gaze sharpened. Alexandra was about to speak when her phone vibrated in her hands.
She could imagine Liam's angry face as she read the line of words, "Where are you, Alexandra?"
