Chapter 43 Forty three
"I can't eat when my friend is uncomfortable." Cassidy eyed him while she picked her phone and started walking out, but he quickly wrapped his hand around hers tightly, making her halt to her feet.
"Let me take you there." He said and she twitched the corner of her lips, shrugging lightly,
"Fine." She muttered.
The news of Alexandra and Liam being parents to a certain beautiful twin made the headlines for the day. And suddenly, another nut-cracking news.
"What the hell is this about?" The remote flew from his hands in annoyance and crashed on the nearby table.
"Calm down, okay?" Antonia said, shocked by the news herself.
"Someone is trying to bring Alexandra down, just when she is at the top of her career. While this news about her and Liam is this way, why would another person post this?" Miller asked, as he groaned and sat down again, his left leg tapping the floor rhythmically.
"Call Liam here right now!" He ordered and stood up, walking to his room.
"Wake up." Cassidy tapped Alexandra softly and she stirred, her eyes blinking slowly.
"When did you get here?" She groaned.
"I sneaked into your bed while you were sleeping." Cassidy chuckled and Alexandra's lips curved upwards.
"Like usual, you are a darling." She muttered.
"What happened between you and Ryder last night?" Cassidy asked and Alexandra's eyes snapped wide open. She was fully awake now.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"The news is about you too." Cassidy said.
"Not about I and Liam but Ryder?" Alexandra didn't believe her ears and immediately got out of bed, rushing down to the living room. She turned the TV on immediately and the picture of Ryder hugging her last night at the front of her house was all she needed to see.
Assumptions were finally everywhere and people were making reports on whatever they could. Some of the comments read that she refused to sign a deal with Glamour holdings because she was in a relationship with Ryder.
Some said she cheated on Liam. For goodness's sake, she wasn't even married to the man.
"What is this?"
"It seems like someone has placed a tab on you. For all I know now, you might b a celebrity."
"Cassidy, it's not funny." Alexandra said as she plopped on the chair. This was going to affect her a lot and she knew. The Sunday news was a crazy thing since nothing could be done till Monday. But who agreed to put it on a weekend where it would get popular?
"It's all over social media." Cassidy shook her head lightly.
"Cassidy..." Alexandra dragged the phone from her hand and placed it on the table beside her, "What am I going to do?"
"I like Ryder. Date him. It is obvious he likes you too." Cassidy shrugged.
"I can't just....date someone that you like." Alexandra rolled her eyes and Cassidy turned to her fully, folding her legs on the couch.
"Even if you don't like him, or you won't date for real. Send a message like that. But first, you have to clarify that you and Liam are divorced." Cassidy said.
"You want me to use Ryder?" Alexandra asked.
"If you put it that way." Cassidy said and Alexandra bit her lips tightly, fiddling with her fingers. She needed to make a choice...if she could.
"No, I can't." Alexandra shook the thought out of her head before it was finally planted. It was really making sense to her and she hated it.
"Alex...."
"Shhh." Alexandra heard her phone ring and immediately rushed to it, it was Ryder.
"Ryder." She shook the phone in the air and Cassidy got up immediately, walking towards her.
"What should I do?" Alexa bit her fingers and Cassidy looked at her cockingly before swiping to green.
"What...." Alexa cleared her throat, eyeing Cassidy before finally speaking.
"Hi."
"Did you see the news?" His gruff voice came out from the other side and she nodded like he could see her.
"I did. I'm pretty sure your shareholders are in an uproar." Alexa said out of concern.
"Right. I can't let them pull out." He laughed and she grinded her lips against each other nervously.
"But I know you are in bigger trouble. They found out two things in between 24 hours." Ryder said.
"Don't feel bad, you were only trying to comfort me."
"You can use me, Alexandra." He suddenly said and her eyes blinked.
"What?" She asked.
"I'm pretty sure the thought crossed your mind, but you can use me. If things work out, I'll be really glad and if things don't....we can just say that we broke up."
"You don't have to do this." Alexandra said and Cassidy pinched her lap.
"Are you crazy?" She mouthed and Alexa shook her head slowly.
"I want to do this. Don't say no. And if possible, if you don't want to say it's a lie, them you can actually make it real. I can take care of the kids, actually."
"Are you asking me out?" Alexandra got the hint and he chuckled.
"I guess I am."
Cassidy's mouth was filled with air immediately and she placed a hand over her lips, trying to stop the giggle that threatened to escape.
"He's asking you out." She mouthed while moving backwards in awe.
Alexandra bit the corner of her lips tightly. Sorry, not sorry. But she didn't have a yes.
"Don't put Alexandra in trouble and divulge the fact that you are divorced. If possible, say everything that you did!" Miller said, his face tightening harder than before. Needless to say, he was really disappointed in his son. It was written all over him.
"Dad-"
"You were the one who cheated on her, Liam. She was the best but you decided to break her heart. She did everything for you, why did you repay her that way? Now she's in trouble for having your kids...your own kids! You better save her this time or consider yourself abandoned!"
"I can't!" Liam said immediately and Miller cocked his head.
"What?" It was unbelievable that Liam couldn't help. No, it was despicable.
"I...." Liam sighed, bowing his head in his hands, "I didn't submit the divorce papers." He revealed.
