Chapter 109 109
Once at the hospital, they all walked to the doctor's office who ran a fast test on Jace and returned quickly with the results.
"Is he okay? A fever?" Alexandra was impatient but Liam squeezed her hand giving her comfort for a while, at least, until she heard,
"It's more than that." The doctor said and sighed, licking his lips, "I don't know if I should tell you this right now."
"Tell us." Liam said quickly, "At least, we have to know to do something quickly."
"Jace needs a bone marrow transplant. He has high risk lymphoblastic leukemia." The doctor said and Alexa's hand fell down to her side in shock.
"Wh-what?" Liam's eyes went wide open.
"He's just a kid...how...how this is possible?"
"Sorry to say, but leukemia is usually found in children. We are glad it is a cancer we can fix, so all we need is a donor for the home marrow."
"Use me." Liam quickly said.
"Mr Jordans, you are still healing. Your bones have not healed enough yet." The doctor advised against it.
"What about me? You can do it with me right?" Alexa stared at him for a last ray of hope and he nodded.
"When can the surgery be scheduled? Let do it now." Alexa said quickly.
"After we run some tests on you. Excuse me please." The doctor said and left the office,
"Alexandra." Liam called, making her stare at him, "You will be fine." He muttered.
"I know. I'm just worried about Jace. He'll be so so scared." She said and he smiled, rubbing her hair fondly.
"I'll go talk to him. He shouldn't be scared, hmm?" Liam said and she nodded, a tear slipping out of her eyes.
"He shouldn't. He shouldn't even pass through this. He is just so young and ....." She released a breath.
Liam stepped into Jace's room quietly and h sighed, seeing his son on the bed, his back facing the door.
"Jace?" He called and Jace immediately sprang up, turning around, a scared look on his face.
"Daddy?" He called and Liam smiled, walking slowly to his son as his legs were already hurting from the stress. He took a seat and Jace stared at him, his eyes conveying all of his emotions of fear.
"Are you scared?" Liam looked at him and chuckled a little, making Jace frown.
"Why are you laughing? It's not funny. I can see you are also worried." Jace folded his hands as he snapped angrily and Liam immediately stopped laughing, instead a smile played on the corner of his lips.
"I'm worried but I'm not scared. You see, iva passed through surgery before. Even your mommy." He said.
"And now me too?" Jace didn't seem one bit excited and Liam sighed, grabbing his hand in a tight hold.
"You'll be fine, Jace. Mom is going to be in there with you, I am going to be right outside. Jade will come in the morning and I'll tell your grandparents too. They'll be lots of people and lots of snacks when you wake up. We'll all but you get well soon flowers, what do you think? Are you still so scared when we all would be right here?" Liam asked and he nodded his head, sniffing lightly,
"I'm not scared anymore." Jace muttered.
Alexa stared at Jace from the other bed and smiled at him. He looked calm, this time around and not as scared as he was when he was called to change his wears.
"Don't be scared, mommy." He muttered to her from the other bed and she gave him a wide smile as he was asked to breathe in anesthesia.
He took in a deep breath and muttered some words which Alexandra didn't hear before he finally slept off. Alexandra bit her lips , taking in a deep breath.
"Jace." Jade rushed towards Jace when they rolled her him out of the theatre. Tears rushed out of her eyes as she stared at him, her lips trembling.
"Why is he not waking up, daddy?" Jade asked as he was pushed into the ward by the nurses.
"He would wake up soon. He needs time to rest." Liam said and she nodded as he pulled her into a hug, her tears wetting his shirt.
"I'm so scared. Bad things keep happening to us." She whispered, her chest heaving Io and down. Liam had to pull her backwards and stare at her right in the eyes.
"Bad things happens to everyone." He said, "We just need to keep on being optimistic and learn how to be ahead of our game. Let's solve it all so we live in peace from now on, okay? And never be scared. You are stronger than what you think. You are Jade, Jade Jordans, a woman of strength and bravery. Never ever.....think less of yourself, honey. You are so wonderful."
A surge of strength seemed to push into her blood system as she cleaned her face with her cloth arm and looked at him seriously, "I'm strong." She said and he nodded, a smile on his face.
"You are strong." He repeated, making her nod her head.
After an hour, the front of the ward was filled with Liam and the grandparents. Louisa tapped her feet worriedly on the ground as she placed her hands on her hips.
"You guys keep secrets a lot. Jace was rushed to the hospital in the midnight and you just called this morning?" She asked, releasing a sigh.
"It was so late in the night. We shouldn't disturb you." Liam said.
"Disturb me! I'm his grandmother. Even Antonia and your father. You can disturb us as many times as possible." She said, "Maybe the kids should stay with me."
"No." Liam's voice was calm but the instruction was clear and concise, "Even if Alexa has more children than this, they would grow with their parents. You both did a good job raising I and Alexa. We'll do the same to our kids." He said clearly and Louisa sighed.
"You think I'm about to steal your kids, don't you?" She asked and Liam smirked,
"I actually do. So I'm going to prevent that before it happens. They can come for holidays at any time with either of you guys but they would never live out of home."
