Chapter 91 - His Betrayal
Josie
As the weeks passed by things returned back to normal for us at school as we finished up our senior year. Joey and I spent as much time as we could growing closer as well as preparing for our graduation. Towards the end of our time at home Joey and I had run our plan for a camping trip to our parents, explaining how it would be a great way for us to spend time with our friend and family. Both of our parents loved the idea and actually started looking for some options for when to go, Joey and I started putting together a list of our friends to invite as well. It gave us something to look forward to as we got closer to the end of the school year.
Joey and I also found out that Angela was kept in custody due to the events and her irrational behavior after she was being sent for a psychiatric evaluation. I am not sure how I feel about all of this but Joey and I decided to wait and see what comes from the evaluation. I just know I don’t feel safe if she is out free so I am thankful that she is still in custody for the time being. At school we didn’t like the constant questions or gossip about the accident or gossipy versions of why Angela did what she did. A few of the versions had me as a boyfriend stealer and Angela felt she had to fight for what was hers. There were other versions we were hearing that were sometimes disturbing, but there were some amusing ones as well. The school had to finally step in and make an announcement that things were still being investigated and they didn’t want to hear any more gossip. We knew it wouldn’t stop the talk but it would make it quieter.
Graduation was a week away and we were all excited to the end of another school year. Joey and I already knew we would be graduating, our grades were excellent and our teachers already confirmed we didn’t have to take our finals since our grades were high. So for the last two days of school we decided to spend the days together since we didn’t have to take any of our finals. Joey told me he had plans to take me to Atlanta for a day of shopping fun just him and I and I was excited. He told me he already had tickets for the Aquarium and for us to do an escape room together. Then he planned to take me out to dinner somewhere fun, I know he felt bad that the day of our accident we couldn’t go out for the day he planned but I told him that it was not his fault and he didn’t need to keep making it up to me.
The thing that did concern me though was Lily, she has seemed off lately and I don’t know what is going on with her. She told me she was going to try to straighten things out with Jeremy but has not told me anything since that day we talked. I was not sure if she followed through having a conversation with him or not, I hope she did because I know she will regret it if she neglected to have this conversation with him.
In school I have seen Jeremy, but felt it was not my place to ask him if Lily reached out to him yet regarding her changing feelings for him. Lily seems to be a bit more distant with me, I know she would be aware of me being on her more about talking to Jeremy. When I have made attempts to pull her aside to talk it seems like she evades me to avoid talking.
Joey and I got together to discuss helping Lily after I expressed my concerns regarding her behavior. Joey and I both like Jeremy and want her to be happy either with Jeremy or with someone else down the line but we knew it needed to start with her having a conversation with Jeremy. Part of me thinks that Lily was starting to overthink things again instead of taking action. I am betting she thought Jeremy was wanting a relationship with someone else and she didn’t want to interfere with that so she is trying to step aside silently. I wish she would remember how Jeremy looked at her when we went on that double date to the bowling alley and how he would light up every time they were talking and how Jeremy would always gravitate to Lily. Lily couldn’t see this but I did looking in from the outside.
Lily didn’t realize it, but Joey and I decided that we were going to pull both of them in together to have a discussion regarding their relationship since it was apparent Lily was going to be stubborn and try to avoid having this discussion. Joey and I didn’t talk to her and set up this meeting at the end of the week before we went away on our own little vacation.
